Preppy fashion started in the late 1940s and 1950s as


the Ivy League style of dress.

Some typical preppy styles also reflect traditional

khakis, stripes, nautical and equestrian leisure.

Solid Pattern
Apparel that is the same shade of the same color
throughout the entire piece.

I​f a garment has an accent (beads, chains, fur, fringe,


sequins, studs, etc.) the accent must be the same
color.

On ​this garment​, you can ignore the small logo and


drawstring and tag this as Solid.

Stripes

Stripe print consists of horizontal or vertical lines


consisting of the same width in the pattern.
If a piece of clothing or pair of shoes includes one
stripe, it should ​not​ be considered striped. It must
have two or more stripes.

Also, athletic pants that have stripes down the side


should ​not​ ​be considered striped.

Think of bright colors, flip flops, tribal influence, laid back


style, shorts, tank tops, flowy, casual, easy and
