1. Complete the following exercises:


a. Think and answer according to your opinion:
 Do you think the weather is changing? Yes, a lot
 If so, why do you think this is? We don’t take care of the planet
and we contaminate it.
 Have you heard about climate change? Yes.

Go to the Activity5 file and look for at least 5 words you don’t know
and write their meaning.
 Floods: It is a natural event or occurrence where a piece of
land (or area) that is usually dry land, suddenly gets
submerged under water.
 Head waves: Head wave A refracted wave which enters
and leaves a high-velocity medium at the critical angle.
 Warmer: A device for warming something; a thing that
warms.
 Light dusting: The act of making something clean by
brushing or wiping away dirt and dust from the surface the
furniture needs a good dusting.
 Droughts: A prolonged period of abnormally low rainfall,
leading to a shortage of water.

 Afterwards, write the letter of the paragraph that answers the question:
1. What is climate change? Variation of the climate of the
planet earth generated by the action of the human being.
This climate change is produced by the process known as
the greenhouse effect.
2. What is the ‘greenhouse effect’? Increase in the
temperature of the atmosphere that occurs as a result of
the concentration in the atmosphere of gases, mainly
carbon dioxide.

3. What is the evidence of global warming? Decomposition of


the ozone layer
4. How will the weather change? Can change drastically as
the sun’s rays penetrate the earth more strongly.
5. What is the international community doing? There are
campaigns which promote environmental care and gather
people to pick up litter thrown on the streets and also
promote recycling.
b. Being green means, you take care of the environment. Go to
theActivity5.pdf file and do the quiz “How green is you? to
find out how ‘green’ you are. Find at least 3 words you don’t
know and write their meaning. Check the answers with your
teacher afterwards.
 Driving: Driving is the controlled operation and movement
of a motor vehicle, including cars, motorcycles, trucks, and
buses.
 Flying: Moving or able to move through the air with wings.
 Bottle: a container, typically made of glass or plastic and
with a narrow neck, used for storing drinks or other liquids.

c. Your opinion counts! Go to the Activity5 file and read what


some users wrote on the “Global warming message board”.
Write the answers to these questions:
1. Who do you agree with most? I agree with the market they
are the ones who know that the world is constantly
changing and we can adapt with it.
2. Who do you disagree with? With ruts because she believes
what comes out on TV.
