History of potatoes

The potato was first domesticated in the region of

modern-day southern Peru and extreme north
western Bolivia between 8000 and 5000 BC. It has
since spread around the world and become a
staple crop in many countries. The earliest
archaeologically verified potato tuber remains
have been found at the coastal site of Ancon
(central Peru), dating to 2500 BC .According to
conservative estimates, the introduction of the
potato was responsible for a quarter of the growth
in Old World population and urbanization between
1700 and 1900.[32] Following the Spanish
conquest of the Inca Empire, the Spanish
introduced the potato to Europe in the second half
of the 16th century. The staple was subsequently
conveyed by European mariners to territories and
ports throughout the world. The potato was slow to
be adopted by distrustful European farmers, but
soon enough it became an important food staple
and field crop that played a major role in the
European 19th century population boom.
However, lack of genetic diversity, due to the very
limited number of varieties initially introduced, left
the crop vulnerable to disease. In 1845, a plant
disease known as late blight, caused by the
fungus-like oomycete Phytophthora intestines,
spread rapidly through the poorer communities of
western Ireland, resulting in the crop failures that
led to the Great Irish Famine. Thousands of
varieties still persist in the Andes however, where
over 100 cultivars might be found in a single
valley, and a dozen or more might be maintained
by a single agricultural household.
Back ground theme behind the fries
For many years the name potato chips has been
applied to thin slices of potatoes fried in deep fat.
In the past, firms have marked articles they wish to
identify as potato chips. Although these are not
made by the traditional process of frying thin slices
of potatoes in deep fat. These are made from
dehydrated potatoes with or without added
carbohydrates from other sources plus other
ingredients commonly used in preparation of
potato chips. Complaints were received from both
individual manufactures of potato chips. So we will
introduce our product crispy fries of different
flavours.

Costs. In order to make a profit a business must
make sure that its products are priced above their
cost. The total cost of a product includes
overheads such as research and development,
investment in equipment, people and technology,
as well as direct costs, such as raw materials and
ingredients.
Competitors. If there is no competition the
business can set whatever price it chooses. On
the other hand, if there is perfect competition then
the business must accept the market price for its
products. In most cases the reality is somewhere
in the middle.
Customers. The business needs to consider
what its customers' expectations will be. For
example, customers may be prepared to pay more
for a product that is unique or produced in an
ethical and sustainable manner. This would place
it as a premium brand above its competitors.
Vision. In the success of my business in our
country then I want to spread out my business in
different countries.

communication.

Marketing strategy..
A combination of local media and local store
marketing programs will be utilized at each
location. Local store marketing is most effective,
followed by print ad. As soon as a concentration of
stores is established in a market, then broader
media will be explored. We believe, however, that
the best form of advertising is still "buzz." By
providing a fun and energetic environment, with
unbeatable quality at an acceptable price in a
clean and friendly outlet, we will be the talk of the
town. Therefore, the execution of our concept is
the most critical element of our plan. We will
actively build our brand, through the selling of
supporting materials.
Brand Challenges
Crispy Fries must establish a distinct brand to
stand out from the other Western-style fast food
competitors.
 Our logo is distinct as fresh, energetic and
playful with color elements that are eye

Production process…
To give the French fry the right taste and a lovely,
golden brown colour, they are blanched, which
reduces the amount of fat absorbed during the
preferring. After that blanching process has been
completed, the French fry is dried using hot air. By
drying, the relative percentage of dry material
increases and the French fry gets its typical potato
taste and it becomes crunchy and crispy.
Product safety…
The final fries contain a lot of
energy from carbohydrates in the form of starch
and from the fat absorbed during the frying
process. g of carbohydrates and the 25 g of fat,
plus 350 mg A large serving of 150 g of fries
provides close to 500 kcal from the 60of sodium.
Tospend that amount of energy you would need to
run for an hour or walk for more than two hours
