2 Fire Protection Work

Fire Protection using Cement based Spray Vermiculite
Supplying and applying light weight vermiculite portland cement based wet mix spray
to structural steel elements to get fire protection up to 2 hours, by certified applicator.
Applied thickness to suit structural steel size and relevant Hp/A calculation. Substrate
must be clean, dry and free from dust, or any other condition preventing good adhesion.
Substrate shall be treated with adhesive key coat /primer prior to spray application as
required . The vermiculate spray material used shall pass all the necessary testing
2.1
criteria required for specified fire rating as per NBC / BS or applicable international code
and shall be applied with necessary priming of the surface to get attractive, monolithic ,
textured finish which is durable and economical. The treated surface shall be with a
monolithic spray texture cured with hydraulic set with no cracks or delamination's , no
erosion, no spalling etc and does not promote corrosion of steel. compund like Isolotek
CP2 Spray, Monokote or equivalent conforming to UL - 263 Product. Approved makes
Newkem, Akzonobel, Berger, Carboline.

Fire Protection using Intumescent Paint.

Supplying and applying (single pack water based intumescent paint, certified Green
Label) to structural steel for fire protection up to 2 hours. , by certified applicator.
Applied thickness to suit structural steel size and relevant Hp/A calculation. Substrate
must be clean, dry and free from dust, or any other condition preventing good
adhesion.Intumescent coating is applied using airless spray machine. Structures
protected with intumescent paint, should have undergone extensive fire resistance
tests for up to 120 minutes in approved independent accredited international
2.2 laboratories to recognised standards throughout the world and assessed in accordance
with ASFP (Fire protection of structural steel in buildings) procedures.
The intumescent paint of density 1.33kg / litre and 70% solids by weight having
Durometer Hardness 80 shore D when tested to ASTM D2240, impact resistance
18kg/m when tested to ASTM D2794, abrasion resistance 0.6505g/1000 cycles when
tested to ASTM D4060 with PH value 8.0 +/- 0.2 at 25oC. Paint to be approved for
Loss Prevention Certificate Board (LPCB), and Green Label Material (Low VOC) • The
system is tested to BS 476 Part 21, AS 1530: Part 4: 2005 and UL Certified/ASTM E119:
2007 standards. Approved makes Newkem, Akzonobel, Berger, Carboline.
