POPE FRANCIS

Pope Francis was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio on December 17,1963 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Born to Italian immigrants, Pope Francis lived with his mother, father, two brothers and two

sisters. After studying Theology and obtaining his Doctorate in Theology, Pope Francis was

ordained a priest in December 1969 and served the people of Argentina. On March 13, 2013,

Francis was named the leader of the Roman Catholic church becoming the 266th Pope and the

first Pope from the Americas. Pope Francis currently lives in the Vatican, in Vatican City. Not

only is Pope Francis a priest and head of the Roman Catholic church, he is also an author.

Pope Francis has accomplished a lot during his papacy. He has a new way of evangelizing and

has reformed the governing structure of the Catholic church. He has spoken and expressed his

ideas on controversial topics such as homosexuality and sexual abuse that has plagued the

Catholic church. Pope Francis is known for his humility and frugality. He cares deeply for children

and the poor and encourages humanitarianism, education and sharing of resources to help those
less fortunate. He has strong views on the environment and believes we should protect natural

resources.

Pope Francis has lived and continues to live an admirable life. He is a leader who promotes peace

and unity for everyone. As the leader of the Catholic church, he lives his life according to his

Catholic values and beliefs. He has strong morals and values and lives his life in a way that others

look up to him.

Pope Francis is successful and is considered a hero to many because he has made his way through

the various levels of the Catholic Church to become the Pope or highest priest. He shows

compassion for everyone, especially those that are less fortunate. To those people, he helps

them get the food and education that they need. To others, he shows inclusion, love and

kindness. To be a hero, you must have those traits but I also believe you must have a impact on

society and Pope Francis definitely has had a huge impact on society.

LIONEL MESSI
World famous soccer star Leo Messi was born in Rosario, Argentina on June 24, 1987. Leo is a

nickname as he was born Luis Lionel Andres Messi to his parents Jorge and Ceclia Messi. He

was the youngest of three boys and grew up playing soccer with his brothers.

Best known for being a professional soccer player, Leo began playing with a Rosario based

youth soccer club at age 8. At age 13, he began training at a Barcelona, Spain soccer

powerhouse, and by age 16, he made his first appearance with the FC Barcelona soccer team

who later went on to win the under-20 World Cup that same year. Leo Messi has numerous

world records and played in the World Cup in 2014, 2016, and 2018 but his team has never won

the championship title.

In addition to being a famous soccer player, Leo Messi is married and has two sons, Thiago and

Mateo. They live Barcelona Spain where he plays soccer and also runs the Leo Messi

Foundation which provides assistance to disadvantaged children. He is focused on children’s

rights around the world and was named the UNICEF goodwill ambassador in 2010.
Leo Messi lives an admirable life, even though he has had some controversy. He uses his fame

and wealth to help others, especially the poor. He also is a family man and keeps his personal

life private so that they can live as normal as possible.

Many people consider Leo Messi a hero and I would too. He is a hero because he has saved

people from burning buildings or natural disasters but because he uses his popularity to

encourage and influence others and he uses his money to help others. He he is a role model to

kids and a lot of those kids consider him a hero because he is a great soccer player who gives

them hopes of playing professionally one day.

 Albert Pujols

José Alberto Pujols Alcántara, best known as Albert Pujols, was born in Santo Domingo,

Dominican Republic on January 16, 1980. The son of Bienvenidos Pujols, Albert’s parents

divorced when he was very young and he had very little contact with them. He was primarily

raised by his grandmother America in the Dominican Republic. They lived in poverty but he and

his family immigrated to the United States in 1996 and settled in Independence, Missouri.

Alberto spoke very little English but was very good at baseball, which helped him make friends.

Alberto was drafted in 1999 by the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team after playing one year of

college baseball. He played in the minor league first and in 2001 joined the major leagues. His

first year in the major league, he was named to the All Star Team and was the National League

Rookie of the Year. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals for 11 seasons and currently plays for

the Los Angeles Angels. He has received three most valuable player awards, ten all star awards

six silver slugger awards, two gold glove awards, two Hank Aaron awards, two home run leader

awards, is a National League batting champion, member of the 3,000 hit club and has made

three World Series appearances.

Alberto Pujols currently lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife and four children. In

addition to playing baseball, Pujols is the founder of Pujols Family Foundation which helps

families living in the Dominican Republic who are affected by Down Syndrome and also families

living in poverty.

Pujols lives an very admirable life. He has had to overcome a lot of obstacles to get where he is

today. Most people would have given up but it made him stronger. Now that he is a

professional baseball player, he uses his wealth to give back to families who need help.

Overcoming so much and also giving back to his home country makes Pujols a hero to many.

He gives a lot of people, especially kids, hope that they can do big things.

Alberto Pujols place of birth:

 SHAKIRA

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born in Barranquilla, Colombia on February 2, 1977. Her

father, William, was Lebanese and her mother Nidia was Colombian. Known as Shakira, she is

the youngest of eight children and began singing at an early age. She received her first record

deal at age 13 but the album did not do well. At the age of 20, she and her family moved to

Miami, Florida. She learned to write music in English and was mentored and managed by

famous Latin singer Gloria Estefan. This benefited Shakira and her first American album was

number 3 on the music charts the first week it came out. Two years later, she had two songs on

the Top 10 album charts. Additionally, Shakira has toured throughout the world performing at

concerts, has sold more than 70 million albums worldwide, has been a judge and mentor on

The Voice TV show, has won Grammy’s, wrote and sung the theme song for the 2010 World

Cup and performed at the 2014 World Cup.

Shakira founded the Pies Descalzos Foundation which provides children in Colombia with an

education. She is involved with the America Latina en Accion Solidaria project which works to

fight poverty in Latin American and has been named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
Shakira has homes in Miami, Florida, Columbia and Spain. She dates Spanish soccer player

Gerard Piqué and has two sons, Milan and Sasha.

Shakira lives an admirable life because despite all the fame and money that she has, she gives

back to her home country and the less fortunate to try to help make their lives better. She is

considered a hero to many, especially young girls because she has had to overcome a lot of

obstacles in order to get to where she is at. She moved to a country, not being able to speak

the language and still became a world known singer.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, one of the things I enjoyed most about this project was seeing how much these

celebrities give back to the less fortunate. Most of them did not grow up with a lot of money.

They could have easily used their popularity in a negative way but they did not. Other than the

Pope, these people live very nice lives with nice cars and big houses. They also give back to the

less fortunate and their home countries. I think that it is important to remember where you

come from.
