3. For what value of p, (–7) is a zero of the polynomial x2 – 2x – (7p + 3)?
4. If 6 is a zero of the polynomial p(x) = ax2 – 3(a – 1) x – 1, then find the value of a.
5. If (x + a) is a factor of 2x2 + 2ax + 5x + 10, then find a.
Day 3
1. Find two numbers such that their HCF and LCM are 7 and 28 respectively and one of
the numbers is 4 times the other number.
2. Prove that the square of the number of the form 5k + 1 is also of the same form.
3. Find the HCF of 52 and 117 and express it in form 52x + 117y, where x and y are
integers.
4. Write a quadratic polynomial, the sum and product of whose zeroes are 3 and –2
respectively.
5. Find the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial 5x2 – 4 – 8x.
Day 4
1. If one zero of the polynomial (a2 – 9) x2 + 13x + 6a is reciprocal of the other, find the
value of ‘a’.
2. Find all the zeroes of the polynomial 2x4 + 7x – 19x2 – 14x + 30, if two of its zeroes
are
3. If α and β are zeroes of the quadratic polynomial x2 – 6x + a; find the value of ‘a’ if
3α + 2β = 20.
4. A polynomial g(x) of degree zero is added to the polynomial 2x3 + 5x2 – 14x + 10 so
that it becomes exactly divisible by 2x – 3. Find the g(x).
5. The sum of the numerator and denominator of fraction is 3 less than twice the
denominator. If the numerator and denominator both are decreased by 1, the
numerator becomes half the denominator. Find the fraction.
Day 5
Day 6
5. If a and b are roots of the equation 9x2 – x + 2, then find a quadratic equation with
roots 2a/b and 2b/a.
Day 7
1. A two digit no. is obtained by either multiplying the sum of the digits by 8 and adding
1; or by multiplying the difference of the digits by 13 and adding 2. Find the no. How
many such nos. are there.
2. A boatman rows his boat 35 km upstream and 55 km downstream in 12 hours. He can
row 30 km. upstream and 44 km downstream in 10 hours. Find the speed of the
stream and that of the boat in still water. Hence find the total time taken by the boat
man to row 50 km upstream and 77 km downstream.
3. α, β, γ are zeroes of polynomial x3 + px2 + qx + 2 such that α.β + 1 = 0. Find the value
of 2p + q + 5.
4. Ashok covers 60 km in 1½ hours with the wind and 2 hours against the wind. Find the
speed of the Ashok and speed of the wind
5. Puru chase Vinayak who is 5 km ahead. Vinayak is travelling at a speed of 80 km/h
and Puru chase at an average speed of 90 km/h. After how much time Puru met
Vinayak.
Day 8
1. In a function if 10 guests are sent from room A to B, the no. of guests in room A and
B are same. If 20 guests are sent from B to A, the no. of guests in A is double the no.
of guests in B. Find no. of guests in both the rooms in the beginning
2. Prove that √2 + √5 is irrational
3. The LCM of two numbers is 64699, their HCF is 97 and one of the numbers is 2231.
Find the other number.
4. Places A and B are 80 km apart from each other on a highway. A car starts from A
and another from B at the same time. If they move in the same direction, they meet in
8 hours and if they move in opposite directions, they meet in 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Find the speed of the cars
5. A boat goes 16 km upstream and 24 km downstream in 6 hours. It can go 12km
upstream and 36km downstream in the same time. Find the speed of the boat in still
