Quest for the Crown

Overflowing pulchritude gave life to stage as gorgeous and handsome Philomenians

lit the stage on fire .
Before the lava walk became a trend in the world of pageantry , Philomenians already
have their own striking pose and signature walk. The battle for the most coveted crown was
tough among the equally deserving candidates.
Earlier, the candidates showcased their talents during the preliminaries. Cyrille
Valencia, 16 , bested other candidates with her declamation piece while James Natividad,16,
won with his captivating talent.
Marjorie Alnas, senior-high school bet bagged the crown and James Natividad , grade
10 lad, took home the title, besting other candidates during “Mr and Ms Intramurals 2018.”
Of the 12 women, those who made it to the top were Tifarah Sabiniano (grade 12), 4th
-runner-up, Judy Torrado (grade 11), 3rd runner-up, Nikka Oro (grade 12) 2nd runner-up, and
Carmina Pichay (grade 10), 1st runner-up.
The men who made it to the cut were Justine Uanang (grade 9), 4th runner-up, Ryan
Salamero (grade 12), 3rd runner-up , Jomar Caleja (grade 12), 2nd runner-up, and Aaron Paul
Guimmayen (grade 11) 1st runner-up.

Question and Answer

During the final question and answer, Alnas was asked “If you will be crowned as Miss
Intramurals, what would be your advocacy?”
The Senior lass retorted quickly “ If I will be crowned as Miss Intramurals , my advocacy
would be the empowerment of youth. I want to improve not only the mental and physical
capacity but also their personality as social being”
“I want them to become a better person not only in our locality but also globally” she ended.
Natividad was tested through the question” What makes you proud as a Philomenian”
“ The virtues and values thst are being taught make me proud as a Philomenian. Throughout
my stay in this institution I imbibed these and I will use it to omprove my craftsmanship and
my attitude in hnadling difficult situations in my life.”
“I believe with these virtues and values, I am worthy of the crown tonight” he concluded.
 “SPA promotes sustainable nutrition”
As the government gears toward a sustainable food access and healthy lifestyle; nutrition
month celebration is celebrated anually with this year’s theme “Ugaliing Magtanim Sapat na
Nutrisyon Aanihin”
The school actively participated with this endeavor by encoouraging the students to
develop food gardens. This activity will not just augment the food access of every Filipino
family but also to help Filipinos not to depend too much on what can be bought on th market..
To mobilize the community specifically the school to provide a fostering environment for
sustainable food gardens is the primary goal the theme.
Following the traditional way of celebrating nutrition month, cooking contest was one
of the highlights of the event. Participants were asked to prepare dishes from vegetable, meat,
and dessert category. Among the other activities were poster making and slogan where Tesoro
and Rueco won, respectively.
Nutrition’s focus is to emprove accessibility of every Filipino to food through food
gardens.

A Sweat of Victory

The activity was single handedly designed to encourage, inspire and motivate people of
all ages to improve their mental and physical health through exercise.
On this occasion, the organizers distriributed the food to the participants who came
ecstatic at the statrting point. Staff and organizers of the said activity were there to supervise
the whole event. Medics and police officers were also on standby to provide assistance to the
runners
Moreover, the participants were then transported to Tupang, Alcala, Cagayan where
the starting point is. The participants ran with all smiles, notwithstanding the heat of the sun.
Spearheaded by Chonard Calvo, SK chairman, he said “ This activity is first among
the other activities that will involve the kabataan and the whole Alcaleno”
“Pioneering this event is such an honor because it encourages indivisibility and cooperation
aiming for a certain goal’ ,he added.
Asked about what’s next after the fun run , Calvo responded “There are more to watch out
for.” Calvo was supported by the local governement unit of Alcala and other participating
agencies in the municipality.
After the activity the participant were given foods and snack in which after eating, a
raffle activity started. Behind the success of this activity were the full support and love from
the Alcalenos.
