TCS: An Entrepreneurial Air-Express Company in Pakistan

What makes TCS a success at the time of writing the case? What do you think resulted in the
success?

TCS has gained numerous milestones by operating on a business strategy that is still growing
and gaining strength. The result of which is that today this company leads the courier sector of
Pakistan and is still growing and setting new limits to improve its standards in the industry.

TCS considered the threat of new entrants very small as there were numerous barriers to entry.
Not only because of the cost associated to build a nation-wide network like TCS but also
attaining a workforce similar to TCS by the competitors. The support from DHL was very
beneficial in terms of managerial expertise for TCS. Domestic courier service is a major part of
service of TCS as this unit gives a wide range of services including quick service like hourly
service and overnight service. TCS was able to generate cash internally to fulfill its beginning
capital needs rather than financing externally. As a key part of its growth strategy TCS focused
on leasing to acquire assets rather than buying to gain tax benefit and grow stronger financially.
