UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:

● The cardio is part of the TN core standards which enables the student to be active during class. They will
be moving continuously while trying to help themselves and their other classmates while using
technology resources to help track their data.

LESSON OBJECTIVE:
 Given the cardio workout, TLW track Heart Rate compared to their pace with 80% accuracy.
 Given the fit bit app, TLW record their data with 90% accuracy.
 Given the excel worksheet. TLW transfer their recorded data with 100% accuracy.

STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
 TN Physical Education – FPA.2 Participate in health-related fitness activities.
 ISTE Standard(s) – 3. Research and Information Fluency: Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use
information.

MATERIALS:
● Phones
● Gym Clothes
● Pencil
● Checklist
● Cones

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:

● The key concepts are to track their HR compared to the pace of their workout then to transfer their data
to an excel sheet.
● No academic language to be addressed
● Lesson will be a continuation of the TN Physical Education FPA.2 standard.
● I will build on this lesson by discussing the different energy systems we use during workouts and how
those effect HR.
● Modifications will be made for those unable to complete the objectives.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:

Introduction:
 The class will begin with warm up stretches consisting of: high knees, butt kicks, lunges, shuffle, each
will be 2 sets going sideline to sideline.
Procedures:
 I will go over the app and how to use it. (5 min)
 Once everyone is logged in to the app they will begin running laps around the gym. (10 min)
 Students will find a spot on the floor and begin crunches then log their data. (5 min)
 Water Break (5 min)
 The students will then attempt to run suicides. Starting at the baseline the student will sprint to the first
line, touch the line with their hand, then return to the baseline. Repeat the sequence until every line on the
floor has been touched. Log data. (10 min)
 Next the students will do burpees by jumping into the air then dropping down to a push up. Log data. (5
min)
 Water Break (5 min)

Closure:
 We will do some cool down stretches: seated toe touch, butterfly, hamstring pull, trunk twist. Each stretch
last 30 seconds.
