ADB
Project Details:

American Data Bank was founded in 1998 with the goal to provide a revolutionary way to
protect organizations, employers and universities from the uncertainties that come with
hiring and school admittance. ADB partnered with Intersoft/ VServ in beginning of 2013
with a vision of building a robust software that would make them an Industry leader in
respective domain. Hence, Complio was created. This software has been ever evolving,
delivering comprehensive releases into production every two weeks, keeping ADB way
ahead of the competition in terms of software richness. ADB has been continuously
expanding business and adding more features to the already rich software. Most recently,
they have partnered with Colorado Bureau of Investigation to aid them with fingerprinting
work.
Where we are right now:

ADB collaborated with Colorado Bureau of Investigation to aid them with fingerprinting
work. Team has successfully completed phase 1 of Fingerprinting requirements, and
proceeded to next phase of development. System has been upgraded to .net framework
4.7.2, SQL Server 2016, VS2017. We are adding "Multilingual" support for fingerprinting
modules, with immediate use on CBI applicant side where Spanish language users are
expected to using the application very soon. To provide the CBI applicants mobile access
to the system, the Complio mobile web app is being enhanced to support registration
and placing Fingerprinting orders. System is being enhanced to provide incident
management capabilities by adding a full-fledged incident management module.

Technology Set:

On .Net framework 4.7.2, ASP.net 4.7, Microsoft SQL Server 2016, deployed on Windows
server 2012 and IIS 8.0. Built initially on VS2012, the application has been upgraded to
VS2017. The project makes intense use of third party tools from Telerik, Rad Pdf, Suatinsoft,
Winnovative etc. The application recently included WEBAPI2, Angular, Google
Authenticator, Shibboleth SSO as well. The application integrates with different partners
for uploading data to their application / sites. The system is hosted on AWS Cloud and
uses various AWS Cloud services like EC2, SNS, S3, Glacier and more.

Next Roadmap:

ADB understand importance of modern day Business intelligence tools for quickly creating
various reports required for business analysis and reporting. We are not far distant from the
day when we will have Tableau reports integrated into Complio. Rotation placement
matching work has reached a level where we can start thinking about adding
intelligence to the system using Microsoft Cognitive services and other advanced AI
platforms.
BTE MCU
Project Details:

The BTE MCU Multi-Cervical Unit is the most effective and complete system for the
assessment and rehabilitation of patients suffering from neck pain, whiplash associated
disorders (WAD), and general cervical spine disorders. The MCU is an unmatched,
research-backed tool that empowers physical therapists and chiropractors alike to
objectively evaluate, strengthen, and restore the ailing neck and cervical spine. This
projects involves hardware interaction altogether from top to bottom.

Where are we right now:

BTE Multi-Cervical Unit (MCU) project started a year ago. We have almost touched all the
use cases of this project and 75% work is completed. Two most important aspect of the
projects are HL7 protocol and Hardware API integration.

Health Level-7 or HL7 refers to a set of international standards for transfer of clinical and
administrative data between software applications used by various healthcare providers.
These standards focus on the application layer, which is "layer 7" in the OSI mode. In our
context, mainly health related information of clients or patients is transferred from one
clinic to another, this data contains cervical tests results which were being performed by
the clinician to check the cervical strength of the patient on BTE MCU device. While
implementing HL7 we came across many hurdles e.g. there are less documentation and
resources available on internet for HL7 and also lack of C# API available for
implementation. To overcome this problem, we did comprehensive research on this topic
by studding lot of articles over internet and even purchased a book for HL7 to get through
it. After analysing and gaining knowledge from the resources available, development of
HL7 was initialized and an extra feature of SSL certificate was added to make the
application reach the most advance level in field of developing an excellent application.
To read data on server side a HL7 Protocol industry standard tool “MirthConnect” is used,
which came out to be no succeed because the open source of this tool does not
supports SSL certificate authorization and the paid version costs almost around $ 2,100
which was costing a great amount. So, to make this work a utility was being developed
which supported SSL certificate authorization while transmitting data from one source to
another.

Another challenge (or opportunity) in this to perform tests and exercises on the hardware
simulator device and get the data to the MCU software. Although client has provided the
data to the MCU software. Although client has provided the hardware API, but it was not
easy task to integrate it our application. In one interval of time, the simulator returns more
20(or more) records per second. Two of the major problems with Hardware simulator was
missing angle points and single load cell. While performing tests or exercises using this
hardware simulator was that the angle points were not mentioned on the hardware
simulator, so it became very difficult to recognize that which angle is where as it does not
have any marking. To overcome this problem, lot of time was being utilized as it was the
major part of our project and finally after putting great effort and performing various hit
and trials we were able to achieve this. Also, the actual BTE machine works with two load
cells but the simulator being provided by client contains only one port for load cell, so
with time it became strenuous as well as demanding for us. To make the application work
for two load cells on site in spite of having only one with us various conditions were being
applied and tested side by side to fulfil the requirement. At last we were able to deliver
our application perfectly working with two load cells.

Technology Set:

WPF, SQL Server Express 2007, DevExpress, Log4net, HL7 Protocol API (nHAPI), Mirth
Connect

Next Roadmap:

We are working on release 8 currently. Going forward, our roadmap is start the UAT on the
client location in coming month.

SAM
Project Details:

Follett Corporation has been a trusted partner to Pre-K and K-12 schools, districts and
college campuses. Follett serves over half of the students in the United States and works
with 80,000 schools as a leading provider of education technology, services and print and
digital content.
Where we are right now:

DB accounting integration is provided in which SAM system fetches data from CARP and
create invoice automatically by comparing SAM and CARP data. Accounting team and
store users are informed once comparison is completed and results of the invoice are
shared with them. This has fastened the process of invoice creation without waiting for
accounting team to get data for a particular store and term from CARP and SAM and
then comparing data manually and decide the results. This will help accounting team to
charge Stores more accurately and without going through much manual work. Early
invoicing feature is deployed which will provide approximate invoicing details to
Accounting and Admin teams before running actual invoice. This will help them to figure
out invoicing of a term beforehand and provide them approximate amount which will be
charged from campus for that term. Student pay functionality is provided which will help
students to buy the books/Materials directly from eFollett for student pay included
sections and charge students directly on eFollett. eFollett links are provided in emails
which are send to students which are enrolled in student pay section. The links takes
students directly to student pay sections on eFollett and materials can be ordered.

Chrome, IE, Firefox etc.
Next Roadmap

Will be providing functionality on customer portal to get Credit card information of

student to charge students directly for rental items. Earlier RIM system (Rental books) used
to charge campus for rental items and then campus further used to charge students
which delays the invoicing process but now students will be charged directly. Credit Card
details interface which is provided by third party component Vantiv is integrated in SAM's
module customer portal which provides secure and safe way to get credit card details
without storing the details in SAM system.

systems and PDM has no visibility to them. Therefore, going forward PDM will
reflect/update ALL Product from the Beyond box (includes product owned by Beyond &
SWS product which are owned by Harmon/CTS and sold by Beyond), via a nightly feed
from JDA. This will also enable other systems (i.e. Enterprise Order Management,
Warehousing, etc.), to receive the necessary data updates via PDM. This replaces the
existing mini conversion process.
What is Drupal?

Drupal is a free and open source Content Management System (CMS) that allows
organizing, managing and publishing of content. More specifically, Drupal is a web
application that allows one or more users to create, edit, publish, and control access to a
website using a graphical user interface (GUI). Many modern content management
systems use a database to store the content and a scripting language (in Drupal's case,
PHP) to dynamically build the HTML needed to present the content to a web browser.

Drupal is released under the GNU General Public License, which means that the software
itself is free to download. There are no license fees, as are often found with proprietary
software, e.g. Sitecore or SharePoint. Due to the large community of contributors who can
easily extend the functionality of Drupal, there is also a huge free community library of
extensions, called modules, and themes that can change how the website looks.
How it’s used

In the enterprise space, one of Drupal’s architectural strengths is its support for multi-site
and virtual site environments – where different web properties appear to be separate sites
but share common Drupal components. Organizations with different business units and
product lines might deploy as a multi-site installation, so that each business unit can tailor
its own theme, content, and functionality. For e.g. Organizations such as car franchises
might deploy as a virtual site installation so that each dealership can localize information
such as inventory, events, and promotions while adhering to franchise-managed
branding and content.
Under the Hood
Underneath the powerful UI,
there is a very flexible object-
oriented framework, which
has been built from the start to
be modified and extended.
This allows developers to finely
tune a Drupal site to have the
features and functionality you
need. There is also a robust
template layer using the Twig
templating language, which
lets you precisely customize
the look of the site.
Drupal’s architecture is more
of an interlinked set of
components than a structured
hierarchy. There’s general
agreement that Drupal
consists of core APIs, modules,
and themes but since it’s so
scalable and flexible it’s hard
to present a standardized
Drupal APIS: At the heart of Drupal is a representation.
set of API services (in blue) that modules
use to interact with content and with
other modules. Drupal’s modules sit on
top of these API services.

Drupal Modules: A module consists of

code and files that extend Drupal's
functionality. Modules make use of
Drupal's APIs and are event-driven: they
‘listen’ for hooks, or events, generated by
APIs and other modules which will trigger
them into action. Some modules are
essential (Core Modules) and are part of
the standard Drupal release whereas
others can be developed by the
community.
How Drupal Renders a Page
(Assume an Apache webserver)
1) A user makes a webserver request by clicking on a URL.

2) Drupal reads the (Apache) configuration file .htaccess; .htaccess tells Drupal to
execute index.php, a script file.

3) Index.php bootstraps the process by loading up the APIs in the include folder,
initializing the database; then it initializes session handling, loads the libraries, and
prepares to handle the request.

4) The Menu API, one of the APIs loaded up, now checks for the module responsible
for getting content from the database for that URL. Modules are event-driven and
listen to the Menu API for requests. At this point, Drupal gets to skip steps 5 – 8 if:
page caching is turned on /the page has already been rendered once during the
caching interval /the user is public (‘anonymous’)

Caching stores pages in memory in their rendered form so that Drupal can just
serve up the page without having to assemble it again. This means that ‘static’
pages that don’t interact with users are good candidates for being cached. On a
website with lots of static pages, this can represent a significant performance boost.

5) When the module gets the request, it goes to the database and loads up content
from the appropriate node, but it also fires up hooks to allow other modules to
interact. These other modules might add business logic, extra functionality, make
changes to the content, bring in more content, and/or hand off to other modules
by firing up other hooks. This handing-off and delegation is what makes Drupal
event-driven. Modules build the content and respond to events.

6) Assuming there are no errors, when all the content is available the module(s) hand
back control to the Menu API, which determines which theme should be used and
hands the raw, unformatted data to the Theme layer.

7) The Theme styles the content and may also call more hooks, or change the
content. Then it hands a fully-formed HTML page back to Menu API, which hands
the page to the user’s browser for rendering.

8) The browser renders the page for the user, the user clicks on another link, and the
entire process starts all over again.
What is Blockchain?

Blockchain is "an open, distributed ledger that can record transactions between two
parties efficiently and in a verifiable and permanent way". It is a growing list of records,
called blocks, which are linked using cryptography. Each block contains a cryptographic
hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data. By design, a blockchain is
resistant to modification of the data. For use as a distributed ledger, a blockchain is
typically managed by a peer-to-peer network collectively adhering to a protocol for
inter-node communication and validating new blocks. Once recorded, the data in any
given block cannot be altered retroactively without alteration of all subsequent blocks,
which requires consensus of the network majority. Although blockchain records are not
unalterable, blockchains may be considered secure by design and exemplify a
distributed computing system with high byzantine fault tolerance. Decentralized
consensus has therefore been claimed with a blockchain.

History

Blockchain was invented by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008 to serve as the public transaction
ledger of the cryptocurrency bitcoin. Shortly after Nakamoto’s whitepaper was released,
Bitcoin was offered up to the open source community in 2009. Blockchain provided the
answer to digital trust because it records important information in a public space and
doesn’t allow anyone to remove it. It’s transparent, time-stamped and decentralized.
Even though blockchain technology was invented in 2008, it took 10 whole years for
blockchain technology to take over the internet and even banking!
Even today, there are many who believe Bitcoin and blockchain are one and the same,
even though they are not. Those who started to realize around 2014 that blockchain
could be used for more than cryptocurrency started to invest in and explore how
blockchain could alter many different kinds of operations. The biggest key to turning
blockchain’s potential into a reality for industry today is the amount of collaborative effort
needed to create a network to support blockchain services.

How Blockchain Works?

A blockchain is the structure of data that represents a financial ledger entry, or a record
of a transaction. Each transaction is digitally signed to ensure its authenticity and that no
one tampers with it. Ledger entries being distributed among a deployment or
infrastructure.
These additional nodes and layers in the infrastructure serve the purpose of providing a
consensus about the state of a transaction at any given second; they all have copies of
the existing authenticated ledger distributed amongst them. When a lot of people have a
copy of the same ledger, it becomes more difficult to cheat. If anyone wanted to falsify a
transaction, they would have to compromise the majority of participants, which is much
harder than compromising a single participant.
When a new transaction or an edit to an existing transaction comes in to a blockchain,
generally most of the nodes within a blockchain implementation must execute algorithms
to evaluate and verify the history of the individual blockchain block that is proposed. If a
majority of the nodes come to a consensus that the history and signature is valid, the new
block of transactions is accepted into the ledger and a new block is added to the chain
of transactions. If a majority does not concede to the addition or modification of the
ledger entry, it is denied and not added to the chain. This distributed consensus model is
what allows blockchain to run as a distributed ledger without the need for some central,
unifying authority saying what transactions are valid or invalid.
Types of Blockchains

Currently, there are three types of blockchain networks - public blockchains, private
blockchains and consortium blockchains.

Public Blockchains
A public blockchain has absolutely no access restrictions. Anyone with an internet
connection can send transactions to it as well as become a validator. Usually, such
networks offer economic incentives for those who secure them and utilize some type of a
Proof of Stake or Proof of Work algorithm. Some of the largest, most known public
blockchains are Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Private Blockchains
A private blockchain is permissioned. One cannot join it unless invited by the network
administrators. Participant and validator access is restricted. This type of blockchains can
be considered a middle-ground for companies that are interested in the blockchain
technology in general but are not comfortable with a level of control offered by public
networks. Typically, they seek to incorporate blockchain into their accounting and
record-keeping procedures without sacrificing autonomy and running the risk of exposing
sensitive data to the public internet.

Consortium Blockchains
A consortium blockchain is often said to be semi-decentralized. It, too, is permissioned but
instead of a single organization controlling it, several companies might each operate a
node on such a network. The administrators of a consortium chain restrict users' reading
rights as they see fit and only allow a limited set of trusted nodes to execute a consensus
protocol.

Blockchain Platforms

Ethereum, RChain, Hyperledger Fabric, IBM Blockchain, Multichain, HydraChain,

BigChainDB, OpenChain and ChainCore are some examples of blockchain platforms. Let
us discuss couple of them.

Ethereum
Ethereum is a platform based on blockchain technology. Using this platform developer
can build decentralized applications. It is distributed public blockchain network. We can
consider it equal to Bitcoin but there is a major difference like, Bitcoin offers one
application of blockchain technology that enables online Bitcoin payments while the
Ethereum blockchain focuses on running the programming code of any decentralized
application. Ethereum applications are built with the use of smart contracts. A smart
contract is computer algorithms which execute themselves, based on incoming data
from the network. The self-fulfilling nature of such applications allows them to run without
reliability issues associated with human operators. For example, a smart contract could
technically say, “pay Fred $1 if he clears the exam by Dec 18” and it would pay Fred
once the conditions are met. These smart contracts are executed by Ethereum Virtual
Machine (EVM), run by an international public network of nodes.

RChain
RChain is the latest addition of blockchain platforms. RChain’s concurrent execution
throughout the network unlocks blockchain's potential for transactions of every type and
scale. Current platforms are constrained by the single chain problem, sequential
computing inevitably limits scalability and speed, while increasing transaction costs.
Massive energy and computational requirements are major obstacles to mass adoption
of decentralized systems. Unlike other chains, RChain's concurrent computing capabilities
exist natively in the architecture, innovations in consensus and concurrent processing
increase transaction velocity, security, scalability, and sustainability. RChain offers
following advantage over other platforms
 Speed- RChain’s architecture should allow it to easily accommodate tens of
thousands of transactions per second. RChain plans to launch with the capacity to
handle 40,000 transactions per second eventually improving towards its goal of
100,000 transactions per second.
 Tools- The developer tools that will come along with the RChain platform are
unmatchable by current market offerings. RChain plans to offer a platform that
easily allows developers of different backgrounds and coding languages to easily
connect their apps and products to its blockchain.
 RChain Cooperative- The co-op is a public group made up of RChain’s developers,
investors, and users. It allows its members to develop and access RChain’s open
source blockchain. Creating a community atmosphere, the co-op gives every
member the ability to influence the future of the platform.
 Trust- RChain will enable developers worldwide to create safe and tamper proof
decentralized solutions that are both scalable and fast.

Future

Harvard Business Review claims that blockchain will do to banks what the internet did to
media. And 60% of financial organizations plan on using blockchain for international
money transfers, 23% for security clearing and settlement, and 20% for Know Your
Customer (KYC) regulations and anti-money laundering services. Blockchain will likely to
disrupt many industries in the coming 5 to 10 years. These are some of the industries it’s
already disrupting.
 Banking and Payments
 Cyber Security
 Supply Chain Management
 Forecasting
 Networking and the Internet of Things
 Insurance
 Retail
 Private Transport and Ride Sharing
 Cloud Storage
 Charity
 Voting
 Government
 Public Benefits
 Healthcare
 Energy Management
 Online Music
 Real Estate
 Crowdfunding

Development Considerations

NBitcoin
NBitcoin is a C# library for creating blockchain using Visual Studio for Bitcoin currency
transactions only. NBitcoin is the first software created for Bitcoin and Blockchain. Bitcoin is
a cryptocurrency, a decentralized digital currency without a central bank or single
administrator that can be sent from user-to-user on the peer-to-peer bitcoin network
without the need for intermediaries. The client can connect to Bitcoin MainNet and
TestNet. The TestNet is a testing blockchain network. TestNet coins are separate and
distinct from actual bitcoins and are never supposed to have any value. This allows
application developers or bitcoin testers to experiment, without having to use real bitcoins
or worrying about breaking the main bitcoin chain. MainNet is the actual network for
Bitcoin transactions for real economic value. It is the bitcoin network everybody uses.

Ethereum
While NBitcoin is limited to bitcoin currency transactions only, Ethereum is applicable to
maintain any kind data with logic written in smart contracts. Ethereum application can be
developed in solidity language by using VSCode or Remix Solidity IDE. Smart contracts
can be written in solidity, which trigger events to execute the code. Ganache (truffle
framework) can be used to create the test account on local machine. Ganache test
account used by Meta Mask simulator that allows developers to test smart contract and
transactions using ether(ETH). It allows you to run Ethereum distributed applications right in
your browser without running a full Ethereum node.

Conclusion

The most important steps IT companies can take today is to stay updated with
blockchain. This includes the process of making sure developers are not only aware of the
technology but begin to become conversant in the technology and truly understand it.
This includes understanding what blockchain technology can realistically do and what is
not feasible. As with any new technology, it can often be difficult to differentiate
between legitimate capabilities versus pie in the sky claims. Again, education is the key to
staying informed about realistic capabilities.
It is also useful to understand blockchains in the context of bitcoin. Bitcoin is
implementation of blockchain and you should not assume that all blockchain ecosystems
need bitcoin mechanisms such as proof of work, longest chain rule, etc. Bitcoin is the first
attempt at maintaining a decentralised, public ledger with no formal control or
governance. Blockchains can be deployed to solve other sets of problems and industries.
As ever, there are trade-offs and pros and cons to each solution, and you need to
consider these individually for each individual use case.

Talk On Unleash Your Potential
On 20th July 2018 at BBBY office a session on Talk on Unleash your potential was
delivered by - Captain Dharmveer Singh. The idea is to give hope and
motivation through live examples.

9 Things You Can Do To Completely Unleash Your

Potentials
1. Observe your Feelings: Let’s face it – you are the only person
in the world that knows what you feel. Others may guess,
speculate or ask, but they never know for sure. Sometimes you
are excited, worried, feel pain and sometimes you are bored to
death and want to dissemble this fact. Take responsibility for
your feelings and observe when you feel unusually high or low
and think why.

Take a sheet of paper and list last week moments that

energized you and depressed you. Every week you can make
such list and take one step away from “depressors” towards
“energizers”. This will unleash your potentials step by step.

2. Make Personality Test(s): Observing your feelings is a great

way to realize your uniqueness and potentials, however there
are also many personality tests available that may help you
discover your natural gifts and talents. Try Strengths finder,
Myers-Briggs, Enneagram, or others. The key is to find your
strengths, something you can build on effectively.

3. Listen when People Praise your Talents: As theologian

Frederick Buechner said: ”Your calling is where your passions
meet the world’s needs.” When you are aware of your
strengths and weaknesses, it is a good moment to ask how you
can apply them to the world around you.
It may be as simple as asking your friends and colleagues to list
your five strengths and one weakness. The next key question
you have to ask yourself is, how you can grow in these areas
even further.
4. Be Courageous: When facing death, people usually regret the things they did not do, rather
than what they did. Life is full of challenges and fears, but you may ask yourself few questions:
Will I regret not doing this when I am old? Will I remember this in 10 years from now? How much
it matters for me? Will I be able to look in the mirror if I don’t do this?

It takes courage to unleash your potentials and without bold moves you may be just spinning in
circles.

5. Set Challenging, but Achievable Goals: Settings goals is a great way to trigger action and
motivate. It sets the direction, next steps, unclutter your mind. Challenging goals stimulate the
flow experience that so many people want. As some people say “a life without challenge and
risk is not worth living.” The key to unleash potentials is to set stimulating, challenging goals that
are achievable and not overwhelming.

You may write down the goal and read it aloud. If it didn’t move or empower you, you didn’t
want to take an action or didn’t know what to do, you need a different goal!

6. Everyday make a Small Step: As Lao-Tzu said “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a
single step.” You may travel from East to West Coast with a car by seeing just a few miles ahead
at any specific moment. This is also true to unleash your potentials. Don’t think for too long –
discover your strengths and weaknesses, find the world hunger you may feed, set challenging
goals for them, but at the end, use every day to make just a small step towards it.

7. Work on your Habits: Every day we make hundreds and thousands decisions, but most of
them subconsciously. All these small and big decisions sum up to your life. This is why working on
habits is so important. You may turn negative patterns into positive, and learn how to be
thankful, how to deal with stress, have healthy and inspiring relationships.

They won’t change overnight, but once formed they will positively impact hundreds of your
decisions later on.

8. Let go of Bitterness: One of the biggest contributors to not unleashing your potentials is
resentment. As Malachy McCourt stated “Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the
other person to die.” Do not let others steer your life into negative thinking. Past already
happened, future is unsure, so focus on here and now. Don’t let the past define your future.

9. Be Thankful: Our sensitivity increases in direct proportion to the positive responses we give to
our impressions. If you are thankful, your sensitivity to positive aspects of your life will grow. You
will see more opportunities, you will relax and your relationships will flourish.
You are living the only life you have, I hope you will unleash your potentials completely! I
believe if you realize what you have, recognize how you can use it, let go the negative past
and build positive habits over the steps you are making every day, you can achieve great
things.

THE BENEFITS OF MEDITATION YOU NEVER KNEW

What is meditation?

Meditation is relaxation. It is not about concentration, it’s actually about de-concentration.

It’s not about focussing one’s thoughts on one thing, but instead on becoming thoughtless.

What are the benefits of meditation?

 A calm mind
 Good concentration
 Better clarity
 Improved communication
 Relaxation and rejuvenation of the mind and body.

6 Health benefits of meditation

With meditation, the physiology undergoes a change and every cell in the body is filled with
more prana (energy). This results in joy, peace, enthusiasm as the level of prana in the body
increases.
On a physical level meditation:

 Lowers high blood pressure

 Lowers the levels of blood lactate, reducing anxiety attacks
 Decreases any tension-related pain, such as, tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia,
muscle and joint problems
 Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behaviour
 Improves the immune system
 Increases the energy level, as you gain an inner source of energy.

11 Mental Benefits of Meditation

Meditation brings the brainwave pattern into an alpha state that promotes healing. The
mind becomes fresh, delicate and beautiful. It cleanses and nourishes you from within and
calms you, whenever you feel overwhelmed, unstable, or emotionally shut down. With
regular practice of meditation:
 Anxiety decreases
 Emotional stability improves
 Creativity increases
 Happiness increases
 Intuition develops
 Gain clarity and peace of mind
 Problems become smaller
 Meditation sharpens the mind by gaining focus and expands through relaxation
 A sharp mind without expansion causes tension, anger and frustration
 An expanded consciousness without sharpness can lead to lack of action/progress
 The balance of a sharp mind and an expanded consciousness brings perfection.
Meditation makes you aware - that your inner attitude determines your happiness.

3 Spiritual benefits of meditation

Meditation doesn’t have a religion and can be practiced by anybody regardless of the
faith they follow.

 Effortless transition from being something to merging with the infinite and recognizing
yourself as an inseparable part of the whole cosmos
 In a meditative state, you are in a space of vastness, calmness and joy and this is what
you emit into the environment, bringing harmony to the Creation/planet.
 Meditation can bring about a true personal transformation. As you learn more about
yourself, you’ll naturally start discovering more about yourself and love yourself.

How to get meditation benefits?

To experience the benefits of meditation, regular practice is necessary. It takes only a few

SHIV KHERA’S FORMULA FOR SUCCESS

With positive thinking, commitment to values, and a vision, you can reach great heights.
Your attitude, your values and your vision form the blue print of your success. Anything is
possible to achieve by psyching oneself with positive thinking. — These were the words of
wisdom by motivational speaker and author Shiv Khera who was in Chennai recently.
Positive thinking alone cannot guarantee success. “It is a supplement, not a substitute for
your action plan. Your positive action combined with positive thinking results in success.”

Will vs. Skill Selling

Mr. Khera said that it was will power When it comes to selling, Mr. Khera says
more than skill that contributes to one’s that success in life depends on our

Character

For most of us negative thinking has become habitual. Positive behaviour has to be a
reflex action. Develop good habits, for it greatly contributes to positive habits and
attitudes. Give importance to your reputation and most importantly your character.
Keep up your self-esteem.

Key Learnings: Keep Trying And Don’t Give up.

All The Difference In The World
Every Sunday morning, I take a light jog around a park near my home. There’s a lake located
in one corner of the park. Each time I jog by this lake, I see the same elderly woman sitting at
the water’s edge with a small metal cage sitting beside her.

This past Sunday my curiosity got the best of me, so I stopped jogging and walked over to her.
As I got closer, I realized that the metal cage was in fact a small trap. There were three turtles,
unharmed, slowly walking around the base of the trap. She had a fourth turtle in her lap that
she was carefully scrubbing with a spongy brush.

“Hello,” I said. “I see you here every Sunday morning. If you don’t mind my nosiness, I’d love to
know what you’re doing with these turtles.”
She smiled. “I’m cleaning off their shells,” she replied. “Anything on a turtle’s shell, like algae or
scum, reduces the turtle’s ability to absorb heat and impedes its ability to swim. It can also
corrode and weaken the shell over time.”
“Wow! That’s really nice of you!” I exclaimed.

She went on: “I spend a couple of hours each Sunday morning, relaxing by this lake and
helping these little guys out. It’s my own strange way of making a difference.”

“But don’t most freshwater turtles live their whole lives with algae and scum hanging from their
shells?” I asked.
“Yep, sadly, they do,” she replied.
I scratched my head. “Well then, don’t you think your time could be better spent? I mean, I
think your efforts are kind and all, but there are fresh water turtles living in lakes all around the
world. And 99% of these turtles don’t have kind people like you to help them clean off their
shells. So, no offense… but how exactly are your localized efforts here truly making a
difference?”

The woman giggled aloud. She then looked down at the turtle in her lap, scrubbed off the last
piece of algae from its shell, and said, “Sweetie, if this little guy could talk, he’d tell you I just
made all the difference in the world.”

Key Learnings: You can change the world - maybe not all at once but one person, one animal
and one good deed at a time. Wake up every morning and pretend like what you do makes a
difference. It does.
The Weight of the Glass
Once upon a time a psychology professor walked around on a stage while teaching stress
management principles to an auditorium filled with students. As she raised a glass of water,
everyone expected they’d be asked the typical “glass half empty or glass half full” question.
Instead, with a smile on her face, the professor asked, “How heavy is this glass of water I’m
holding?”
Students shouted out answers ranging from eight ounces to a couple pounds.

She replied, “From my perspective, the absolute weight of this glass doesn’t matter. It all
depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute or two, it’s fairly light. If I hold it for an
hour straight, its weight might make my arm ache a little. If I hold it for a day straight, my arm
will likely cramp up and feel completely numb and paralyzed, forcing me to drop the glass to
the floor. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the
heavier it feels to me.”

As the class shook their heads in agreement, she continued, “Your stresses and worries in life
are very much like this glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens.
Think about them a bit longer and you begin to ache a little. Think about them all day long,
and you will feel completely numb and paralyzed – incapable of doing anything else until you
drop them.”

Key Learnings: It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses and worries. No
matter what happens during the day, as early in the evening as you can, put all your
burdens down. Don’t carry them through the night and into the next day with you. If
you still feel the weight of yesterday’s stress, it’s a strong sign that it’s time to put the
glass down.
8 SLICES OF PIZZA

Wife: Don’t put so many clothes for wash today.

Husband: Why?
Wife: Maid has said she won’t come for two days.
Husband: Why?
Wife: She said she is going to meet her granddaughter during Ganapati festival.
Husband: OK, Will not put too many clothes.
Wife: And shall I give her Rs.500 for Ganpati? Festival bonus?
Husband: Why? Diwali is approaching; we will give her at that time.

Wife: Oh no dear. She is poor. Going to meet her daughter and granddaughter, so she will
also feel nice. Moreover, everything has become so expensive these days. How will she
able to celebrate festival?
Husband: You! I don’t know why you become emotional so easily.

Wife: Oh dear, don’t worry. I am going to cancel today’s program of ordering Pizza. Why
unnecessarily blow away Rs.500 on eight pieces of stale bread.
Husband: Wow. Great. Snatching Pizza from us and giving to the maid!
Maid returned after three days and got busy in mopping and dusting.
Husband asked her “So, how was the vacation?”
Maid: Very nice sahib. Didi had given Rs.500 festival bonus.
Husband: So you went and met your daughter? And also met your granddaughter?
Maid: yes sahib. Enjoyed a lot and spent Rs.500 in two days’ time.
Husband: Really? Ok so what did you do with Rs.500?
Maid: Rs.150 for dress for granddaughter, Rs.40 for a doll, bought sweets worth Rs.50 for
daughter, Rs.50 as offering to Deity in temple, Rs.60 towards bus fare, Rs.25 for bangles for
for daughter, bought a nice belt worth Rs.50 for son-in-law, balance Rs.75 gave to
daughter to buy copy and pencil for grand-daughter. Maid gave a full account of the
expenses incurred.
Husband: So much in Rs 500?

With surprise, he started thinking. The eight pieces of Pizza appeared in front of his eyes
and each one of them acted as a hammer started pricking his consciousness. For the
price of one Pizza, he started comparing the expenses his maid had incurred during her
visit to her daughter.

The eight pieces of Pizza floated in front of his eyes.

 First piece - dress for the child.

 Second piece - towards sweets.
 Third piece - towards offering to the deity in the temple.
 Fourth piece - towards bus fare.
 Fifth piece - towards doll.
 Sixth piece - towards bangles,
 Seventh piece - towards belt for the son-in-law.
 Eighth piece - towards copy and pencil.

So far he had observed pizza only from one angle. He turned it upside down and observe
how it looks like from the other side but today his maid showed him the other side of the
pizza. The eight pieces of pizza showed him the real meaning of life and the meaning of
“Spending for life” or “Life for spending”.

Think about it.

which was scheduled for the next day.

In the morning they thought of a plan. They made themselves look as dirty with grease and
dirt. They then went up to the Dean and said that they had gone out to a wedding last night
and on their return the tyre of their car burst and they had to push the car all the way back
and that they were in no condition to appear for the test.

So the Dean said they could have the re-test after 3 days. They thanked him and said they
would be ready by that time.

On the third day they appeared before the Dean. The Dean said that as this was a Special

Change shall not come from Paradise!

People are dying people are crying,

For the hope of life, they are trying,
Where are you God, where is your dome,
Upheaval just has frazzled everything in the bottom of your home …
Trauma is being faced by the humanity.
How they will bring back the serenity?
Someone says it is natural calamity,
Someone says it is human intrusion’s cruelty…
Please turn up if you can,
She believes in you, she is your fan,
She prays now and again,
And trusts you will vanish all the pain…
The little girl is chanting your name and roam,
Where are you God, where is your dome
Upheaval just frazzled everything in the bottom of your home …
Please listen to the prayers they are just vibes,
Make efforts to endow some strength to the tribes,
Thus they will identify change shall not come from paradise,
They need to change their selves in order to achieve the rise.
