1390 Network Planning Tool

The Nokia 1390 Network Planning Tool (NPT) is a highly sophisticated, multi-
functional software application that adds intelligence, automation and efficiency to
optical networking design and operations. It is purpose designed for offering
service providers a comprehensive set of engineering, planning and analysis
functions for multi-layer converged OTN/WDM optical networks based on the
market-leading Alcatel-Lucent 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS)

Intelligent network planning of GMPLS -based control plane mechanisms is

supported for automated network dimensioning
A comprehensive framework for managing the and fault analysis, including single and multilayer
optical network life cycle from design to simulation for faults and bandwidth utilization, as
commissioning, the Nokia 1390 NPT is ideal for well as recommended capacity expansion when
service providers that want to ensure the most certain faults are identified in the network.

equipment and network levels, and be able to
implement in-demand services. In addition, it
offers unparalleled capabilities to address
unpredictable traffic and service demand changes
that may dramatically impact network planning
and design. By leveraging unique algorithms
developed by Bell Labs, the tool provides a
powerful forecasting framework for demand
planning and network design, including network
extensions, network defragmentation and
network re-optimizations upon changes in traffic
demands and SLA requirements.
