The hardest part of the discussion was getting started. Once the group was able to set a
day to meet and work though the material, we were able to get the needed work done in a timely
fashion. The struggle to get everyone’s schedules to match together and to work around sports
practices and other commitments was a difficulty right from the start. Once we started working
everyone was able to bring something to the project and it made it so much easier because one
person was not carrying the team. This was one of our greatest triumphs because we were a great
group together and worked very well together. Another struggle we came across was the topic
we were given. Initially we were stuck on what to do regarding our topic because of its specific
purpose of “Revision” compared to other groups with social norms and topics easy to make
activities based on. This experience has greatly changed my view on both the learning process
and public speaking. I was forced to create a lesson plan of my own and put myself in the
professor’s shoes which helped me understand what goes into each lesson. Regarding the
learning process, this discussion turned it inside out for me. I needed to look at the process in a
different light and I learned that learning isn’t always about handing a piece of paper in or
getting a good grade on a test. It also works with life skills and other skills needed to survive in
today’s world. This discussion will greatly impact my future courses both regarding public
speaking and the learning process. Regarding the learning process I will be able to easily
understand how I personally learn and the best way for myself to understand the information. If I
was to conduct this discussion again there isn’t much I would do differently. I felt this was set up

very evenly regarding the groups and we were given a good length of time to complete the
project. The only piece I can think of is that we could be better aware of what we needed to be
included in our presentation. Otherwise I felt this was a very good and easy project to complete.
