Treatment Philosophy

The Raw Sewage from surrounding villages collectively flows by gravity into
the Mechanical Course Screen Chamber (2 nos. Screens of 40 mm).

Mechanical Fine Screen

The Sewage after screening is taken by gravity into the Main Pumping Station
which is then pumped with the help of Raw Sewage Pumps (6 Nos.
Submersible pumps) to the Screening (2 nos. Mechanical coarse Screens of
40 mm) and Grit Removal Chambers. The sewage flow is divided into two Grit
chambers with the help of Gates, the Grit is removed through Grit Removing
Mechanism.

Grit Disposal
After Grit removal the sewage is taken by gravity into the C-Tech basins.

There are four C-tech basins in the Plant. These C-tech basins work in
sequence and the influent flow is distributed using Automatic Gates provided
in the inlet chamber of C-tech basins. The C-tech basins are equipped with Air
Blowers, diffusers, return Activated Sludge (RAS) Pumps, surplus Activated
Sludge (SAS) Pumps, Decanters, Auto Valves, PLC, etc. All cycles will be
automatically controlled using PLC.

The C-tech system is operated in a batch reactor mode, which eliminates all
the inefficiencies of the continuous processes.

The complete process takes place in a single reactor, within which all
biological treatment steps take place sequentially. Additional settling unit /
secondary clarifier are not required.

The complete biological operation is divided into cycles. Each cycle is of 244
min. duration, during which all treatment steps take place. Each SBR Basin
performs 6 cycles per day. Hence total 24 cycles are performed in a day for
Plant.

A basic cycle comprises:

 Fill-Aeration (F/A): During the period of a cycle, the liquid is filled in the
C-tech basin up to a set operating water level. Aeration blowers are
started for aeration of the effluent.
 Settlement (S): After the aeration cycle, the biomass settles under
perfect settling conditions.
 Decanting (D): Once settled the supernatant is removed from the top
using a Decanter. Settled excess sludge is taken to the Sludge Sump
using SAS Pumps. The balance activated sludge is re-circulated back
to the SBR basin using RAS Pumps. The sludge from the Sludge sump
is taken for dewatering.

These phases in a sequence constitute a cycle, which is then repeated.

Decanter Assembly

The treated effluent from the C-tech basins will then pass through Chlorine
Contact Tank in which Chlorine is introduced for disinfection. After chlorination
treated water is discharged into the Mula – Mutha river.

The excess sludge is feed into the Centrifuge by means of Centrifuge Feed
Pumps. The dewatered sludge cakes are taken for disposal and centrate is
taken to Main Pumping Station.

Future Expansion

The plant is now running to its Peak capacity. The future expansion of Plant
can be planned in the adjacent area.
