What is the purpose of Educational
technology or technology in
education? As discussed in class, whether
education fuels the technology or the other
way around should not be the issue. What
must be taken into consideration and given
thought is how they are going to be able to
work as one. How educational technology
or technology can be integrated to education
to make it more efficient and effective.
What do you value in education and
technology?
Education - informal or formal - is that it
enables us to learn and gain wisdom. It
gives access to concrete and abstract skills
and understanding that will not only prepare
us for the future but also will give us the
ability to live the present with ease. This
also what I value in technology. It allows us
to live easier and in a more comfortable
way.
What is the state of educational
technology in the Philippines? As
witnessed in our group presentation
(Banawe Grade 2 Students), the situation of
the educational technology in the
Philippines is very poor compared with that
of the other countries and also we are really
still very far from that of the “classroom of
the future”; how and what we have showed
represented how we see educational
technology today. Furthermore, the fund
intended for our education per se is
insufficient, what more for educational
technology. However, what I’ve realized is
that the available resources as simple as
internet access, webcam, and LCD projector
could be enhanced or utilized in a better
eLearning
How prepared are we as a country for the
challenges of 21st century learning?
In my opinion, we are not prepared for the
challenges of the 21st century learning
because we still have problems with
teaching per se - classroom, teachers,
system. However, I would like to believe
that we are currently transiting towards
education which is focused on our students'
learning. Education is actually prioritized
and given importance by the government;
this is evident with the current
administration's budget allocation for
education
Do you think the government is doing
enough to push eLearning into the
Filipino classroom? Why?
Yes, there are efforts being made. However,
these are not enough and mostly, these are
done in schools located in urban cities.
Also, as discussed in class, one computer
given to a school is already considered by
the government as an effort in eLearning.
But, at the very least, as witnessed, this
sole computer is not actually used, may it
be in the classroom or by the students; it is
in the principal's office and/or for display
purposes only.
If you would be given the chance to
conceptualize an eLearning project, what
would that project? Expound.
I would create a website specifically for
high school students. It would primarily
tackle and give resources for the subjects
Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. The
website would generally offer lectures,
practice activities, and other assistance
programs for the said subjects. Its content
way; like what Sir suggested in class. would come from the collaboration of
different professionals,
As a future educator, what are you going organizations/institutions, and publishing
to do about it? Honestly, it is really houses competent in the subjects. On the
