Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

In order to succeed in the Secondary Education degree, We must first finish the Praxis

Core required in the state of Nevada to move on to continue a Bachelor’s degree in Education.

The Praxis Core Exam consists of Math, Reading, and Writing. The Praxis I must be passed with

a score of 150 in the Math section, 156 in Reading section and 162 in the Writing section. The is

to plan to transfer into Nevada State College to obtain a Bachelor’s degree, but without passing

the Praxis Core Exam, one cannot continue the Bachelor's degree.

Exam Preparation

Previously professors have taught throughout the courses about the test in education

courses. They want to provide information and resources for the success in the Praxis Core. For

the past two weeks with on and off sessions, days studying were incorporated into a routine but

did not help much since I did not entirely focus on it. Also the subject I needed the most

improvement would be Writing rather than Math; According to the tests Reading and Writing

needs more improvement along with Math, but I did get a higher score than expected in the Math

portion. The way of studying used for the practice tests was studying with the Praxis Core for

dummies booklet that was provided by the Education Department at CSN. The scores display

that I need to study a lot more during the week spending more time on each concept.

Exam Results

In Math, I scored in the 60% range, which means that I require improvement in the Math

section for when taking the official Praxis Core Exam. In Reading, I scored in the 39% range,

which means that I require significant improvement in the Reading section for when taking the

official Praxis Core Exam. In Writing, I scored in the 58% range, which means that I require

significant improvement in the Writing section just as much as all the other sections for when

taking the official Praxis Core Exam. The scores were very low which means that there is a need

to focus more on studying for the praxis in order to improve the low scores to pass the official

Praxis Core Exam.

Future Exam Preparation

In order to prepare for passing the exam, I will dedicate at least 4 hours a day to

studying, using the Praxis Core for dummies practice tests and reviews in order to pass the

official Praxis Core Exam, finding a tutor willing to spend time throughout the week to help

prepare for the Praxis Exams. There is a need to focus more on what the practice test stated were

the lower aspects of each test. The practice test gave a clear view of what the strengths and

weaknesses were throughout the test. Those results will help my study plan, and hopefully, I will

be successful on the official Praxis Core Exam.
