RECOMMENDATION LETTER

Dear Program Director,

It is with great enthusiasm that I submit this letter of recommendation on behalf of Agnes Wanda
Suwanto. As an assistant professor at the Medical Faculty of Brawijaya University, I have had
opportunity to see many talented medical students over the years. Rarely do I have an opportunity to
work with a student as talented as Agnes Wanda.

I first met Agnes when I served as an anatomy lecture and small groups that we call clinical tutorials.
Agnes has small-group interactive sessions, students learn to do a history and physical examination,
develop a problem list, and learn basic differential diagnoses. Students develop their own learning issues
and report back to the group. It was obvious from the beginning that Agnes was enthusiastic about
clinical medicine and very well prepared. She had an unusual command of the basic sciences and a
genuine curiosity about clinical presentations and about patients themselves. She exceeded expectations
in her research on the clinical issues she was assigned to present to the group. At the same time, her
presentations were not only well organized, but delivered at an appropriate level. Agnes works well as
part of a learning team. She has the exceptional talent of facilitating the participation of others and
making those around her function at a higher level of enthusiasm and achievement.

Agnes immerses herself in solving clinical problems, and is persistent until she has found answers. She
worked with a very complicated diagnostic problem where the differential diagnosis and the number of
consultants became extensive. She went out of his way to coordinate with consultants, residents and staff
the multiple complex input and problems in her patient, and she benefited as a result.

Over years that I have known her, I have become very proud of her for many reasons. She has endearing
personality and treats others with kindness and respect. The thing that you can always count on from
Agnes is her positive attitude, constant inquiring, and diligence. She is also well known as very rounded
student at campus that seeks her maximum potential both at classroom and beyond.

I have seen Agnes grow into a mindful, responsible and motivated student in every way. Her yearlong
progress in class participation, academic achievement, and dedication represent a young woman

motivated to reach success. She is a special person who has unlimited potential and the ability to succeed
in so many things. She plans to pursue higher education to create positive changes in Indonesia, for the
world of knowledge, and herself. Agnes sees the potential for a clinical research career combining her
interest in Community Health Problem and Obstetric Gynecology. She sees a career in that as one where
she will enjoy functioning in a team, solving problems and benefiting those who are ill, as well as
developing clinical applications for her research. I know she will accomplish this goal and many others
along the way.

In summary, Mrs. Suwanto is not only very bright, but she is hard working. She is totally reliable and
dependable. She is well liked by patients, their families, colleagues and staff. She is an individual who
makes those around her better. In my 20 years of practicing medicine Agnes Wanda is one of top students
I have worked with, therefore it is my pleasure to enthusiastically endorse her candidacy for your
residency program.
