A. MEANING
Biography usually tells about one's life history. The biographical term comes from the
Greek biographia, then absorbed into Latin and French around the 17th century.
Biography means "writing about life". This definition is formed because the term
biography is a combination of the words bios (live) and graphein (writing). Biography
can also mean a story about someone's life written by someone else. Whereas, if written
by yourself it is called autobiography.
B. STRUCTURE
Following is the structure of the biographical text consisting of orientation, events and
reorientation.
ORIENTATION
Orientation is the part where explaining about the introduction of characters, contains
an initial description of the characters told in the biography.
EVENT
Part of the event or event is a part that contains an event or event that has ever been
experienced, including in it contains about the problems it has faced in achieving its
goals and ideals. The interesting, amazing, impressive, and touching things that
character has ever experienced are also described in this section.
RE-ORIENTATION
Reorientation is the closing part. This section contains the author's views on the
narrated figure.
C. EXAMPLEIF BIOGRAPHY
Raden Ajeng Kartini was born to a descendant of a prominent family on April 21, 1879.
His character was thirsty for knowledge and he had felt the bench of elementary
education. He wanted to be able to continue his education but his father opposed it.
Kartini finally had to harbor her desire to go to school, but did not stop learning that is by
reading a lot.
From here he could then teach other women around him and instill a more developed
mindset. At the age of 25, Kartini died. Nevertheless his works and thoughts are still
remembered today.
FOLKLORE
A. MEANING
Folklore are stories that originate from the community and develop in society in the
past that characterize every nation that has a diverse culture that includes the cultural
and historical richness of each nation. In general, folklore tells of an event in a place
or origin of a place. The characters featured in folklore are generally created in the
form of animals, humans and gods.
B. STRUCTURE
Golden snail
Once Upon a time. There lived a king named Kertamarta. He led a very beautiful and
majestic kingdom, this kingdom was the kingdom of Daha. Raja Kertamarta has two
beautiful daughters, Dewi Galuh and Candra Kirana. Their lives are very happy and
well-off.
One day, a handsome Prince came from the Kahuripan kingdom. This prince named
Raden Inu Kertapati. The arrival of Prince to the kingdom of Daha was to apply for
one of the King's Daughters, namely Candra Kirana. The Prince's arrival and
intentions were very well received by King Kertamarta. Princess Candra Kirana also
accepted the proposal of Prince Raden Inu Kertapati.
Because the engagement made Dewi Galuh very jealous. He was happy with Raden
Inu Kertapati and asked him to be more suitable to be his fiancee. From feeling Irilah
then develops into feelings of hatred. Dewi Galuh Starts Negotiations to Appease
Candra Kirana from the Kingdom.
