Article Review of Teamwork Is Key To Solving Complex Research Problems

The article “Teamwork Is Key To Solving Complex Research Problems” written by Elizabeth
Culotta (1993) broadly describes the importance of the teamwork in a scientist environment.
The author describe that the scientists need together because they don't know everything and
they have to cover all possible perspectives to solve a problem. We think that this article is
very accurate and shows the importance of teamwork in our future jobs, and that we can’t
have all the knowledge,therefore we need the help of others to supplement that knowledge
that we do not have.First of all, Elizabeth Culotta (1993) explains that when you are working
in a team, it's necessary to have a good relationship with your teamwork because if you are
not synchronized with your team the communication will not be the best and you can have
some troubles and that might affect the success of the project, so you need to take the time to
talk and know your team to make the communication easier. Moreover, in her article the
author showed that sometimes when you are working in a complex problem, you may need
help and that's really helpful. If you are a scientist, you will probably need some extra
help,,because it’s impossible that just a single person can have the knowing and experience in
all the fields.Lastly, Elizabeth Culotta argue that if you want to achieve success you will have
to work with a team because one day, you might need the help of other you can't do
everything by yourself and when you need to work with others, you will need to have a good
communication to avoid problems and obtain the proposed goal. We think that no one can
argue that Culotta in her article, “Teamwork Is Key To Solving Complex Research
Problems”, did not do a good investigation; she has a very good handling of topic. For she the
teamwork and the interdisciplinary skills are a key of success. However, in our opinion, she
is condescending with all persons and studies which she uses as examples, because in these
cases even though the team work it is important, is more important the objective. That is to
say, the people who participated worked together for the principal objective, not because they
value teamwork. On the other hand, the teamwork as a tool for get more experiences, is very
important and, in the article, she is very emphatic in this. As an explanatory article is good,
but like a serious academic article is a fail, because the examples are simple. Finally, we
considered that article meet their goal; it explain what it is a teamwork and their benefits, but
it is a bit simple in its arguments. Lastly, Cullotta, made a good investigation about the
teamwork in scientific aspect and as this is important in the resolution of problems. However,
she is a few superficial and their examples they lack real value.
