recommend interning at L&T. They were very welcoming and more than willing to help us to
I got an opportunity to work on the project assigned for me during the internship. With the
help of my internship guide, online tutorials on technical aspects and with the guidance of my
mentor I was able to complete my work given during my internship successfully.

At the Internship I was required to create an employee notification management

system where we will create a database for employee for storing the details of
employee(EMPNO,Name,Gender,Date of joining,EMP dept,date of expiry)as shown in
figure 3.On the period of employee work expiry he will get an email to extend his period of
work. I used PHP and MySql as the front end and for back end MariaDB. PHP is a server
side scripting language. that is used to develop Static websites or Dynamic websites or Web
applications. PHP stands for Hypertext Pre-processor, that earlier stood for Personal Home
Pages.PHP scripts can only be interpreted on a server that has PHP installed. The client
computers accessing the PHP scripts require a web browser only. A PHP file contains PHP
tags and ends with the extension ".php".MySQL-Front is a Windows front end program for
the MySQL and MariaDB database servers. The database structure and data can be handled
via dialogs or SQL commands. Import and Export in standard file formats is supported. The
database server can be connected directly or via HTTP

2.1 Database Management System

A database management system(DBMS) is system software for creating and

managing databases. The DBMS provides users and programmers with a systematic way to
create, retrieve, update and manage data.[1] A DBMS makes it possible for end users to
create, read, update and delete data in database. The database essentially serves as a interface
between the database and end users or application programs, ensuring the data is consistently
organized and remains easily accessible. Formally, a "database" refers to a set of related data
and the way it is organized. Access to this data is usually provided by a "database
management system" (DBMS) consisting of an integrated set of computer software that
allows users to interact with one or more databases and provides access to all of the data
contained in the database (although restrictions may exist that limit access to particular data).
The DBMS provides various functions that allow entry, storage and retrieval of large
quantities of information and provides ways to manage how that information is organized.

Because of the close relationship between them, the term "database" is often used
casually to refer to both a database and the DBMS used to manipulate it.[2]

2.2 Introduction To MaraiDB

MariaDB is a popular fork of MySQL created by MySQL's original developers. It

grew out of concerns related to MySQL's acquisition by Oracle. It offers support for both
small data processing tasks and enterprise needs.[4] It aims to be a drop-in replacement for
MySQL requiring only a simple uninstall of MySQL and an install of MariaDB. MariaDB
offers the same features of MySQL and much more. MariaDB is used because it is fast,
scalable and robust, with a rich ecosystem of storage engines, plugins and many other tools
make it very versatile for a wide variety of use cases.[2] MariaDB is developed as open
source software and as a relational database it provides an SQL interface for accessing

The system must be compatible with, but not limited to:

 Browsers:

After joining as an intern in Larsen & Toubro Electrical and Automation, day by day I
experienced how the corporate life will be and also, I experienced the work environment in
the company. I got an opportunity to work on the project assigned for me during the
internship. With the help of my internship guide, online tutorials on technical aspects and
with the guidance of my mentor I was able to complete my work given during my internship
successfully. I gained a valuable work experience and confidence during my internship days.

This being my first experience in an office atmosphere, I didn’t know exactly what to
expect. The environment here at L and T is quite relaxed, yet it taught me how to behave in
the workplace. Simply working in the office and getting used to everything here has
definitely prepared me for whatever my next position may be. Just observing the everyday
events has taught me more about teamwork, and how people can come together to get things

My internship was completed in the Larsen & Toubro L&T, [one of the largest Indian
multi-national firms and leading construction company in India]. Through this internship, I
was exposed to various technologies, including database management system, Maria DB etc.
I would highly recommend interning at L&T. All were very welcoming and more than
willing to help you succeed. I was also entrusted with a large amount of responsibilities and
was able to work through things on my own after being given initial direction." This
internship was easily one of the most valuable experiences in my college career."

 Communication Skills (Listening, Speaking And Writing) ..
 Flexibility/Adaptability.
 Ability to make decisions and solve problems.
 Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work.

The environment here at L and T is quite relaxed, yet it taught me how to behave in
the workplace. All were very welcoming and more than willing to help us succeed.
Good relationships among employees help them to build effective teams where all the
members are united and work for a common cause. A positive attitude helps employees to
appreciate each other’s competencies and work as a team for achieving common objectives
instead of being overly perturbed by inadequacies of team members.Having a positive
attitude helps in motivating employees to overcome obstacles that they may face during the
course of their job.

4.4. The most challenging task performed

The most challenging task was managing with the time and keeping up with the
deadlines.Working under trained professionals and getting to understand their level of work
was quite challenging. Being a student who is new to industry environment and getting along
with the industrial ambience is itself a great challenge.

The most challenging task here was to learn a new technology in the specified time
and implement it in the task given to me.Working under the professionals and understanding
their nature of work was quite challenging task.Work culture was a complete different
environment compared to the environment in the collegeas a student. So adapting was also a
difficult task.

Dept of CSE, VVCE 11

It was a great experience of being able to work as an intern for this organization.
Being totally new for the industrial environment, it was a challenging yet one amazing
experience to be able to work in a company, carrying out the assigned tasks within the given
deadline and successfully completing the project on time. I got an idea about work ethics that
I should follow as an IT professional in the future. It was indeed a great exposure to the
corporate world. On the whole ,this internship was a useful experience. I have gained
knowledge, skills and met many new people. The internship helped me to find out my
strength and weakness. I have learnt how corporate world works and I now can present and
express myself more confidently. To conclude, this internship was very beneficial to me as it
gave new insights and motivation to pursue a carrier in IT profession.
