Abstract
The challenge due to the growing population and the demand for proper
housing for the Filipino people have increased over the years. With these requirements, cost,
and time efficiency of construction methods are being looked after. With the factors are
being considered, the study aims to look for alternatives, such a wall panel system that is
economical and of high quality. This study proposed a three-storey residential structure that

builds on 128 square meters lot area and utilizes a wall panel system compare to concrete
hollow blocks by cost analysis. AutoCAD and sketch up was used as a software tool to
design the detailed drawing and the three dimensional of the model of the house,
engineering analysis. The result of seismic analysis was determine the value of shear force
acting on exterior column was , and compared to NSCP 422.5.6 shear capacity of concrete
for non-prestressed members with axial compression of , the analysis shows that the structure
was safe for shear. Likewise, the cost of tradition and proposed wall panel system are Php
2,757,063.89 and Php 2,540,210.64 respectively. It was concluded that using a wall panel
system saved 8.6% of the total cost and 1.11% saved in time particularly in wall activity.
Introduction
Being the sole manufacturer and distributor of lightweight M2 Brand Load Bearing
Concrete Panel in the Philippines, Next Century Building Systems Incorporation has
conducted over 35 years of Italian technological research and experience for the said panel
system. Using their panels as an integral system, structures up to six-storeys may be built
without the traditional column and beam construction method. Furthermore, if desired, the
panels are also completely compatible with conventional building methods and it may also be
used as interior partition, exterior curtain walls and even for floor slabs and stairs.

building material for socialized housing, economic housing, residential and even high-rise
building projects. Compared to CHB unit weight of 240 kg/m², M2 Panel unit weight of 147
kg/m² that will give a 40% lighter structure and safety factor of the structure becomes higher.
M2 Wall Panel is also durable because the wire mesh is giving the concept as a web and the
Expanded Polystyrene is acting only as a spacer and insulator. The finished M2 Wall Panel
has a compressive strength of 1,200 pounds per square inch (Psi) or more while the non-
bearing CHB is only 400 pounds per square inch compressive strength. Lastly, the
construction cost using M2 Panel Building Systems is up to 10% lower compared to the
conventional method.
Methodology
This chapter explains the procedures during the stages of the study. Also stated here
are the steps taken in the selection of the materials for the design. In the study here are the
To be able to attain the project objective the researchers used input, process and output or IPO concept.
The framework flow chart was drawn as the basis for the study.

To address the growing middle class families’ needs for proper housing with cost and time
efficiency requirement.
To differentiate the advantages of using Wall Panel system compare to traditional hollow
blocks.
Is the Wall Panel System more efficient to compare to traditional concrete hollow block
Hypothesis
The researchers of this study expect that the results of this research a Wall panel system is more efficient
compared to traditional CHB in terms of cost of materials and time.
This Civil Engineering project study will provide relevant input for the incoming researchers. The
researchers can conduct further study for the use of wall panel for cost and time efficiency. The country
will benefit from the study because it will address the call for proper housing and by adapting to this we
are also promoting eco-friendly methods of construction compared to the traditional.

The total lot area of this study is 128 m². There are three floors in total with infinity
pool located at the top of the building. In this project study all the structural components will
be design: (slab, beam, column and footing). First floor consists of garage, living room,
dining, kitchen and bathroom. Second floor consist of balcony, two bedrooms, T&B and it
connects to the second floor of the building. The third floor consists of master bedroom,
guest room, library and office. Roof deck consists of infinity pool with pump room, slide up
Definition of Terms
CHB (concrete hallow block) – is a primarily used building material in the construction of walls.
Concrewall system – is composed by panels consisting of a polystyrene sheet assembled together
with welded wire mesh.
Construction Materials – an item used in construction projects that is added to the structure or
building.
Conventional way – refers to what is generally expected by people based on what is common.
Corrugated panel – is a traditional, economical wall and it installed horizontally.
Earthquake Engineering – The performance of the buildings and structures when subjected to
seismic loading.
Economical – giving a good value or service in relation to the amount of money, time, or effort
spent.
EPS Panel – (Expandable Polystyrene) Is a cost-effective, lightweight construction material with
excellent insulation properties.
Galvanized Wire Mesh – is an electric fusion welded prefabricated joined grid consisting of a series
of parallel longitudinal wires with accurate spacing welded to cross wires at the required spacing.
Lateral load – are horizontal forces applied to a structure at its rigid joints and cause deflection.
Load Bearing – is a wall that is an active structural elements of a building, that is, it bears the weight
of the elements above said wall, resting upon it by conducting its weight to a foundation structure.
Monolithic – a plain or reinforced mass of concrete cast as a single, one piece, integral structure.
M2 Panel – the Emmedue M2 Panel is design for all purpose groups defined in the TGD to part B of
the building regulations. The system has been assessed for use as load bearing and non-load bearing
walls, and for floor and roof panels in the construction of specifically design building.
NSCP – National Structural Code of the Philippines
Precast – a concrete unit, structure or member that is cast and cured in an area other than its final
position or place.
Project schedule – is the tool that communicates what work needs to be performed.
Reinforced Concrete – is a versatile composite and one of the most widely used materials in modern
construction.
Residential Building – means a building, other than a domestic building, having a sleeping
accommodation.
Schnell – is a manufacturer of machinery for the production of innovative building elements.
Shear wall – it is a vertical plate like RC wall.
Structural Engineering – the branch of civil engineering that deals with large modern buildings and
similar structures.
Tensile Strength - the resistance of material to breaking under tension.
Wall Panel – is a single piece of material, usually flat and cut into rectangular shape that serves as
the visible and exposed covering for a wall.
Wind Load Analysis – are subjected to horizontal loads due to wind pressure acting on the buildings.
