This is important because it teaches you to dig into what you read and confirm what others are stating. This
has impacted me by reminding me that I can't take things personally when students are unhappy with what
we decide to change/implement in higher education. Of course I have learned to listen to all opinions and
reactions, but it has reminded me to ask students what they know about something. Majority of students

reply that they don't know much, so that tells me they are reacting to situations when they don't have the
full story - much of what it's like to do research and not believe the first thing I read. I have learned to try to

for Leaders - Dr. Haese
Storytelling is an effective way of communicating
change in the workplace. It is also important to give
opportunities to receive feedback to the story and its
changes proposed.
This is important because as a leader you will always work to notice where change is needed. It is necessary
to know how to effectively communicate the need for change and what the update should/will look like. I
Michael Z. Hackman and Craig E. have used the storytelling technique when proposing a new position on the board. The students felt as

supportive since they were able to help tweak it. This helped me fulfill the "envision and guide organizational

This is important because higher education plays a huge part in shaping peoples' perceptions on privelege
and inequity. If we can eliminate those cases of inequity in higher education, then hopefully students can
pickup inequity in areas outside of higher education. It's also important because we want everyone to have

I am both hesitant and embarrassed to admit that I did not know I was priveleged before this class. I have
always been thankful for the life I live, but I never knew about privelege or that it has this strong of an affect
