1.

Interesting reaction coke and milk The reaction of phosphoric acid to proteins
in the milk - they are cut and causes a precipitate.
It is a reaction of the Phosphoric Acid contained in the coca cola to the milk. Phosphoric
Acid molecules attach to the milk giving them more density and separate out while the remaining
liquid that makes up the milk and coca cola now being lighter floats on top. The solid matter is
basically milk that has been curdled by the addition of the more acidic soda.

2. Mentos in Coke experiment

What you need
1 x bottle of cola (diet cola works best)
1 x bottle of lemonade (or any other soda)
1 x packet of mint Mentos
An outdoor area you can hose down afterwards

Why is it so?
There are many explanations for this phenomenon. Here is one abridged version:
A bottle of soda is full of carbon dioxide (the bubbles.) The bubbles stay suspended in the
liquid until the bottle is opened.
When you drop any sort of object into a bottle of soda, bubbles form on the surface of the
object. This is called, “nucleation.”
Add to this the fact that the surface of a Mentos is textured: it’s made up of lots and lots
of tiny craters. These tiny pits create a larger surface area and essentially provide many more
“nucleation sites.”
The Mentos drops to the bottom of the bottle, forming lots and lots of bubbles on its
pitted surface along the way. When all of this gas is released it forces the liquid up and out of the
bottle in a giant whooshing geyser of sticky soda.

3. Penny Cleaning Experiment

Materials Needed
 dirty pennies
 disposable cup
 dark cola like Coke or Pepsi
 permanent marker
Step 1: Pour a couple of inches of Coke or Pepsi (any dark cola will work) in the bottom
of a disposable cup.
Step 2: Using the permanent marker, mark an X on one side of several of the pennies.
Record which pennies that were marked by writing down the year of each penny.
Step 3: Drop a few pennies in the bottom of the cup. Most pennies that were minted
before about 1982 have much more copper content than newer pennies. It is fun to try some
newer pennies and a few older pennies to experiment with the results.
Step 4: Let the pennies sit in the cola overnight.
Step 5: Pour the cola down the drain, leaving the pennies behind. Never drink the cola
used in this experiment. The residual copper left in the cola can make you sick. Also, throw away
the cup after using it for the experiment.
Step 6: Compare the pennies used in the experiment to other uncleaned pennies

4. Effect of coke on meat

Materials
The materials required for the science fair project:
 300g of fresh steak
 300g of fresh chicken breast
 300g of fresh salmon steak
 3 large bowls
 6 bottles of Coca Cola
Procedure

Clean the 3 bowls and place a piece of steak, chicken breast or salmon inside each of the
bowls. Pour two bottles of Coca Cola into each of the bowls. The meat in the bowl must be fully
immersed in Coca Cola.
Inspect the meat in each bowl every day to check if the Coca Cola has succeeded in fully
dissolving the meat. Record your observations once a day over the next 5 days.
It is observed that the Coca Cola did not dissolve the steak, chicken breast and salmon
that were immersed in the beverage for 5 days.
In conclusion, the hypothesis that immersing the steak, chicken breast and salmon in a
bowl of Coca Cola would not dissolve the meat has been proven to be true.

5. This is what happens when you pour Coca-Cola on your hair

You would have heard of many tricks to make your hair wavy without using heat, but did
you know that carbonated soft drink Coca-Cola or Coke, as it’s popularly called, can leave you
with perfect tousled waves? While rinsing hair with Coca-Cola make it soft and voluminous, it
can also give your strands a soft curly texture.
YouTuber Ellko tested this theory on herself by pouring two bottles of Coke on her
straight hair. When she rinsed off the the soda and blow dried her hair, she was left with a nice
tousled wavy texture.
So, what is in Coca Cola that adds volume and texture to hair? It contains phosphoric
acid, which means it has very low pH levels. This tightens the cuticle of our hair and makes it
appear smoother and also, enhances natural curls.
So instead of shelling out money on salt spray, dry shampoo or texturising spray, simply
pour Coke on your head.

6. Boil Coke

Most people think nothing of opening a can of happiness and downing its entire contents.
Coca-Cola is a veritable American staple: How could the kind-hearted folks at Coke give us
something to drink that would do our bodies harm? What’s a little sugar, anyway? As it turns out,
if you boil Coke, you may answer differently.
The experiment begins by bringing a one-liter bottle of Coke to a roaring boil. What
begins as a normal reduction process, as the water in the soda evaporates in the form of steam,
ends with a dirty pot caked in a black, tarry sludge. While the black goo may look off-putting,
there’s no two ways about it: The same stuff that’s in that pot would, at one point, have made its
way into your stomach if you were to drink the liquid straight from the bottle. A combination of
sugar, chemical additives (listed notoriously as “natural flavors”), and caramel coloring make for
a gunky, shiny pudding you wouldn’t feed to your dog. Yet we still think we’re doing ourselves a
favor by drinking it.
