1. This statement surmises that the process of feeling emotions is something that develops
over the span of your life and is the root to experiencing a fulfilling life. The longer you
spend on this Earth, the more capable your mind becomes at properly processing your
emotions. I would agree with this statement, due to the fact that elderly people are
typically viewed as being wiser.
2. This statement showcases the validity of the claim that you can alter your thoughts and
feelings by changing the way you think. For example, if you may feel yourself slipping
into a rut, it could potentially be beneficial to exude positive thoughts and in turn, alter
your mental state.
3. This statement talks about how emotions are “motivational and informational, primarily
by virtue of their experiential or feeling component”. I think that this refers to the
concept of happy and sad memories. Recollection of pivotal moments in your life not
only help steer you through life, but also give you something to reflect back on, whether
it is positive or negative.
4. I find that this statement is a reflection of sudden urges that are experienced by
humans. Whether it is a moment of joy, panic, anger, or depression, these are slightly
different reactions due to the instant nature of them. They can be compared to a “fight
or flight” response that is your body’s instant reaction to a moment. These differ from
person to person and are molded by the life experiences each person goes through.
5. This statement was primarily a summary of the first four statements. It talks about how
our experiences and memories shape who we are as a person and how it can alter our
emotions and responses to external stimuli.
6. I think this statement primarily focuses on the development of negative coping habits as
a response to something bad happening to a person. Over time, if the same negative
coping habits become the only way a person can cope, then your mind will associate
bad times with that habit and will automatically lead you to take the same actions. For
example, alcohol is a prime example of people coping negatively. Alcohol gets used to
escape from a current reality by numerous people. This can become debilitating if
people allow it to consume them and reach for the bottle every time something goes
wrong in their life.
7. Interest is a crucial part in motivating humans to strive for more in life. Some of the
most successful people in the world have various different interests in life instead of
focusing in on one single thing in life. I think that exploring new things and furthering
your experiences in life is something that should be done by all people.

Overall, I learned a good bit about how different emotions can impact your personal life,
along with the way that some of these emotions end up coming to light. However, the thing
that sticks out most to me is ensuring that I have proper ways to cope whenever something
negative happens to me in life. This will ensure I don’t veer off the track that I have in mind
for my future, and I think that finding new interests that keep me occupied with reaching
new pinnacles will help greatly with that.
