2. The design of this mosque initially had
problem and can cause many problems in
the future.
3. Major defect of the mosque during and after
the completion of the project
i)Beam and Column
It is noticeable that the column and the
beam in the mosque had moisture problems
at the basement of the mosque. This can be
seen in figure 1 and figure 2
STEPS TAKEN TO RESOLVE
The intended construction period originally is that the mosque
must finish in 2 years’ time. Then the construction period had
to be extended to 5 years. This delay happen according to the
government instruction and the government is the client in this
project. This delayed happen due to the budget for the
construction must be plan carefully so that the construction can
be proceed during a period when the country economic is
balance .
To ensure the client satisfaction and value for money the
problematic design where being redesign.
The engineers responsible had to reevaluate the design so
that in the future the mosque can stay durable in a very
long time.
To solve this presence of moisture in beam and column
the contractor remove or control the source of the
moisture , remove excessive internal moisture sources in
the basement ,use dehumidification, and use a membrane
or coating on the inside (Safrinaz, Safwan and Hui,
2014).
ii) Pool
Mr Mohd Rafi bin Khalid an Assistant
Manager at Ahmad Zaki Resources state
that the ceramic tiles at the pool collapse
and maybe this is because in a wet condition
the connection between the tiles and its
floor become weaker.
iii) External area for praying area
The tile for this area exploded due to the
incorrect installation method and they are
not using enough mortar to join the tiles
with the floor together
iii) Rain water is stagnant on the floor at the
basement of the mosque. The whole stretch
of the floor from the front to the rear of the
mosque is choked and molds are spotted.
The floor tiles at the pool is the being hacked off as soon
as the project had been handover toward the client and
when doing the tiling work the client had to make sure
that the collapsing of the tiles dint happen anymore, so
before making the pool being filled with water the client
make sure that the connection of tiles is strong and free
from any presence of water that may affect the tiles
durability.

The tiles at this area had to be hacked off too, to make
sure all the bad tiles are being removed and then new
tiles are being brought out and more mortar is placed
between the tiles in order to strengthen the combination
of the tiles. Also this this time they make sure that they
install the tiles properly.
To solve this problem the parties involve must done a fast
maintenance since it is on the floor. They had to touched up
the floor and make sure that the floor is flat and straight so
that it would not become like a mud road. Since people are
using the mosque they had done their job quickly.
