General teaching techniques for the grammar lesson

One of the important topics in English is grammar without a doubt and learning it requires a
lot of attention since in itself it contains other activities such as reading, speaking and listening.
It is a more complete topic and to have a successful grammar requires some steps like
Elicitation, which the teacher collects the student's information through the use of language
and focused questions . This step helps you solve many problems in the teaching of English as
when knowing how to use each word, phrase, verb, etc. Another step is the Grouping Work
where students have the opportunity to work with other classmates and help each other in the
doubts they have, they are not alone and on the other hand they overcome their shyness to
do it before the whole class that starts talking in their group , it also allows the teacher to
approach them if asked about a question that the students have .

Another step to have a succesful grammar lesson in class is time management , the process of
deciding on the order in which you will do tasks, and making sure that they are done on
schedule. In this step you need a lot of intelligence to know how to manage time and try to
carry out all the activities in that class, there are situations where the teacher can shorten an
activity too long or even lengthen a small activity . The Next step is checking homeworks ,
where many times a high level is needed to correct students' mistakes and to master the
subject obviously, but also the teacher can let the students correct their mistakes in group and
compare with their classmate, especially those of high level, but those of low level it is
necessary that the teacher is there close to them to guide them in any doubt . Correction
errors is the following step ,corrections in English have to be very careful, especially not to
discourage the student, but rather to have the ability to correct it and give a good explanation
to his or her error, that will also give the student more confidence to ask to the teacher before
any doubt that may have . The penultimate step is : spoken errors , it is advisable that if
students make the same spoken error many times, correct him or her in the wisest way using
gestures with hands, voice, face, especially if it is tenses in the past or in the future, being very
careful not to make gestures offensive that can be annoying for some people from other
cultures or traditions. Another way is to wait for the end of class and call him to explain his
mistakes and how to correct them .

And the last step is : written errors , one way to correct written errors is to establish a set of
symbols for each error, if it is an error in plural, in verb tense or absence of some letters that
the student could have forgotten, students will have to know the symbols and be able to
correct them. their mistakes, saving the teacher's work and making the students also learn.
The students could also work in a group, that helps them to lose a bit of shyness to their
classmates and realize how much they can learn from each other .
