Asclepius, Healer of the World

Denizen of the Life Aspect

Ascleipus is the Greek God of Healing and various Medical Practices. A son of Apollo, Ascleipus
was once a demigod who was raised by the centaur Chiron after his father killed his mother,
Coronis, in a fit of jealousy and rage. Asclepius was taught all the secrets of healing Chiron had
to offer and became a magnificent healer, capable of curing those most would thought to be
lost. Eventually, he learned of a way to cure death itself, returning the Dead to Life. He learned
this either by observing a snake resurrect one of it’s kind, being actually taught by snakes, or by
using a bit of Gorgon’s Blood which possesses resurrective properties. Whatever the case,
Hades was angered by the healer’s resurrecting shenanigans as one of his rules is that the
Dead must stay in the Underworld. Hades lodged a complaint with Zeus who, fearing mortals
would learn how to become immortal, struck Ascleipus down with a thunderbolt. Now Apollo is
pissed, but because he can’t harm Zeus he decided to kill the Cyclops who made Zeus’
thunderbolts instead, even though all they did was provide Zeus with his weapons. Zeus
punished Apollo by having him serve a mortal for a time, put up the constellation Ophinicius in
Ascleipus’ honor, and then had Ascleipus ascend as an Olympian God.

The Quest
Land of Immortality: A Land where death is essentially a myth, as any and all inhabitants of
this planet have become immortal. While this sounds great and all, it is actually pretty horrible
as not only are Underlings unkillable (and thus, cannot provide Grist) but the Consorts have
become drunk in their invincibility, performing various crimes and deed that would have
consequnces if they weren’t immortal. Some of the Consorts have also gotten pretty bored with
life as they have essentially fufiled all that they could ever want and would like to move on
already. It also gets worse as the Underlings have gotten bolder, invading the Villages and
basically pillaging the hell out of it. Sure, they can’t kill anyone, but they can certainly make the
Consort’s life hell. There are fates worse than death after all. The Player must find a way to
either bypass or dispell the Land’s immortality field, perhaps the Denizen knows a way.

The Battle
Ascleipus is a similar combatant to his daughter Panacea. Difficult and annoying in the fact that
he can’t die. While his most prominent ability allows him to bring back the dead with ease his
most used, and most annoying, ability can automatically restore himself back to near-full health.
Making said ability more annoying is that it can be applied to an Underling that is aiding
Ascelipus, or any groups of Underlings within an area (though it can also heal the Player is they
are in the radius). This healing also happens to dispell negative Status Effects, though not to the
extent Panacea could thankfully enough. Ascleipus’ other notable power is to create and cure
any type of snake venom in existance, not very impressive compared to his mass heal or his
resurrections.

The Prize
Gorgon’s Blood - A vial of the blood that flows through the Gorgons, those with hairs of
serpents and with the ability to turn others to stone with a glance. The Blood of Gorgons are
quite interesting in their duality, as blood from their left sides could kill anything instantly, while
the blood from their right side could bring others back to life. Either effect merely requires a
single drop of blood. Unfortunately, there is no telling from which side of a Gorgon this blood is
from, leaving it a coin toss as to whether the blood would revive or kill.

Strife Portfolio

Revivification

Through certain methods, the demigod Asclepius learned to revive the dead. This was not
meant to be and Zeus smited him with lightning as a punishment. And though Ascelipus was
revived as a God of Healing, Zeus warned him that he may only revive the Dead with under his
approval. This ability allows Ascleipus to revive the dead, though with some limits. First, the
deceased being must be willing to be revived. Second, he could only use this ability upon the
request of others (this usually factors in the Choice he provides). And third, should Zeus be
present in the session, only Zeus or Skaia could have Ascleipus revive someone. Only the first
limit applies should Ascleipus be attempting to revive himself.

Wisdom of Serpents
Ascleipus is said to have gained knoledge of medicine from the serpents, beings that symbolise
resurrection, healing, and wisdom. Perhaps he was taught by a serpent he aided, perhaps he
merely stole this wisdom from abserving their actions, whatever the case, Ascleipus learned
many things from the snakes. This ability grants Ascleipus the ability to create any existing type
of snake venom in existance, along with the remedies to their effect. These venoms usually
within whatever grasping appendage he has, though he may also have them cover any weapon
he or another may wield. He cannot make these substances simply appear in a target’s
bloodstran, though having them appear in their mouths are fair game. Any snake venom remedy
Ascleipus makes with this ability not only instantly reverses any damage the venom had dealt,
but also confers a great resistance to it. A side effect of this power is that Ascleipus is immune to
all types of snake venom.
World Healer
Ascleipus is a greatly renowned healer, said to be capable of healing any who are at death’s
door, or even those who have already died. This ability allows Ascelipus to greatly heal a single
target with a moment of concentration, bringing them back to 90% of their Health Gel with only a
moment of concentration. Ascleipus can also use this effect while targeting an area, healing
everythin within it for 50% of their Health, which can go over their usual limits. The area function
is non-specific and can also heal any enemies within that area as well. Aside from healing, this
effect also dispells any and all Status Effects based on wounds, poisons, sickness, or venom
that has been placed upon the target. Ascleipus can obviously use this ability upon himself, and
regularly does so every few turns, though this ability can only be used once per turn.

Treasure Hoard

Gorgon’s Blood
“A vial of what appears to be snake blood, taken from the veins of a terrifying Gorgon. Beings
with hair of snakes and gazes that could turn other’s to stone.”
Type: Consumable - Damage: None - Attribute: N/A - Range: Touch
Features
A Vial of gorgon’s blood could have either one of these features, depending on whcih side of a
Gorgon it was taken from. Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell which effect the blood contains
without actualy using it first.
Envenomation: The blood is taken from the left side of a Gorgon, allowing it to kill almost
anything. Should even a drop of the blood touch a living creature’s skin, it would immediately
seep into it and begin it’s vile process. It would convert all of the liquid in the victim into every
type of poison in existance, almost guarnteing their gruesome deaths. The only way to resist
this effect is to both have complete immunity to all poisons and to be able to survive without any
liquid (such as blood or water) in their bodies. The blood is quite benign to non-living beings.
Revivification: The blood is taken from the right side of a Gorgon, allowing it to heal any wound
and to even reutrn the Dead to Life. Should even a drop of the blood touch the remains of a
deceased being, it would immediately seep into them and start it’s process. It would rapidly
regenerate all of the victim’s wounds, repairing even the most gruesome of wounds in a matter
of seconds. In the case of something already deceased, it would first repair their bodies,
manefesting any missing flesh or bone from the air, before dragging their soul back from
wherever it has gone and returning them to life. The blood cannot return something that suffered
Soul Death and would merely repair the bodies of such beings.

Rod of Asclepius
“A wooden staff decorated with two snakes entertwined upon it’s length. The snakes are
positioned such that their faces meet above the rod’s tip, their fangs bared and seemingly
dripping with poisons.”
Might - Type: Short Bludgeoning Weapon - Damage: Medium - Attribute: Mangrit - Range:
Melee
Magic - Type: Focusing Magic Weapon - Damage: Medium - Attribute: Acumen - Range:
Medium
Features
Snake’s Sagacity: This ability grants the weilder an innate knowledge of snakes and their
venom. They would be able to identify the symptoms of their venom with a glance with such
accuracy as to pinpoint the exact species of snake it came from. They would also be able to
identify the exact method required to heal or ease the pain of such poisons.
Arcane Predilection (Healing): The staff grants the wielder a grand affinity for all types of
healling magic, allowing them to learn and cast such workings with ease so long as they hold
the staff. This reduces the time required to learn them by half, and reduces their casting difficulty
by two.

Urn of Cures
“A black clay urn, painted with depictions of Ascleipus and his deeds in healing others.”
Type: Trinket - Damage: None - Attribute: N/A - Range: None
Features
Cure Brewer: The urn could create cures to any disease, poison, or venom in existance. This
merely requires a sample of said substances (for diseases, the spit or blood of a carrier would
do) to be placed within it, along with a pint of clear water. Within a minute the urn would turn
both the substance and the water into a potent cure for the sampled malediction, only a sip of
which is required to completely cure anyone from it. Recovery may still take some time however,
as such cures merely exterminate the targeted malediction from the drinker, and it does not
grant regeneration or instant recovery.
