The results of compressive and tensile test vary significantly as the percentage of black
sand also varies. The percentages used was 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% casted in three cylindrical
and three rectangular specimens in each percentage. The results obtained from compressive and
flexure test shows that as the percentage of black sand increases, its strength decreases. And in
terms of workability, it is observed that when the compressive and flexural strength of concrete
is lower, its workability also varies. Therefore, the use of black sand is not suitable as an
RECOMMENDATION
If this study will serve as the basis of other researchers for the same purposes, the
percentage they should use must be lower than the percentages used in this study in order to
determine if black sand can be suitable in concrete. It is also recommended that the aggregates to
be used must be fresh from quarry and the cement must be newly purchased. The used of a
vibrator is also recommended so that the concrete will be easily and properly compacted.
