What are some different names for “mission statement,” and where will you likely find a firm’s mission statement?
Answer: A mission statement are also called a creed statement, a statement of purpose, a statement of
philosophy, a statement of beliefs, a statement of business principles, or a statement “defining our
business.” A good place to look for a company’s mission statement is on the firm’s website, quality
manual and on school handbook.

2. If your company does not have a vision or mission statement, describe a good process for
developing these documents.
The following are the process for developing vision and mission statement.
 Revisiting Your Business Strategy Plan - whatever you need in order to build your vision and
mission statement is present in your business’ strategic plan. This plan needs to be carefully
revisited for you to find the common thread and the sole message that your business is trying to
convey to its customers and staff.
 Creating a Vision Board – in this process, the company will determine the aim of the business,
who is your target audience, how the company intend to make a difference in this world with your
product and services, identify the risk and opportunities, purpose in starting the business and
determine uniqueness of the company.

fails to develop a clear and effective mission and vision statement loses the opportunity to present itself
favorably to existing and potential problem.

A mission statement should not include monetary amounts, numbers, percentages, ratios, goals or
objectives because the statement needs to be broad in scope to effectively provide a basis for performing

specific strategies and objectives in a mission statement could reduce the level of innovative and creative
thinking in an organization and jeopardize the potential for the statement to be widely accepted by all
managers and employees. Acceptance of a clear mission is a prerequisite for gaining acceptance for
strategies and objectives to pursue. In addition, it is simply premature in the mission to include strategies
and objectives where are determined after the mission is decided upon.

This statement describes that a good mission statement should identify the customers’ needs in order
for them to become aware what products and services that has a company offers. For example, a
stakeholder wants to know first the firms’ mission statement before investing his/her money.

The self-concept of a mission statement describes a firm’s distinctive competence or major competitive
advantage. The philosophy components of a mission statements refer to the basic beliefs, values,
aspirations and ethical priorities of the firm.

now. When it terms to its composition, vision has only one sentence while a mission statements has
several sentences and includes nine components.

No, it’s not necessary to have written vison and mission statements because they are less affected of its
competitors and they are not in detail when it comes to document strategic management. Maybe they
have vision and mission statements in their mind however its still recommended for them to develop
written statements in order for them to their business to grow exponentially.

I think why organization that have a comprehensive mission tend to be high performers because its states
all the purpose and aspirations of all employees and managers to work eagerly and passionately. By
these comprehensive statements it also provides the company foundation for effective strategic planning
rather that guessing about what actions would be best to take in the future.

Ideally yes, it will cause high performance because they will be guided for what the firm wants do now.
But practically speaking it doesn’t cause high performance because there are policies and guidelines
needed to achieve in the company.

A mission statement should not include strategies and objectives because the statement needs to be

The principal value of a vision and a mission statement is that they provide the organization’s idea and
undertaking in terms of products, services, market, technology, concern for survival growth, profitability,
philosophy, self-concept, concern for public image and concern for employees.

It is important for a mission statement to be reconciliatory in order for the organization to be efficient and

The three most important components should be included when writing a mission statement are
customers, employees and philosophy. The company must be customer-oriented for them to know their
customers’ wants and needs. Employees, the company should always think the welfare of the manpower
because it’s the company’s asset. Philosophy, the company should target and identify the basic beliefs,
values and philosophies in order for them to be guided.

The mission statement of a profit and non-profit organization differs only on the concern for survival,
growth and profitability.
