The information in this bulletin is a snapshot of weekly activities in our
church and community. It showcases new events that may not be present
in our monthly newsletter. The Weekly News is also posted on our
website: www.esumc.net along with other news and events.
If you want your activity to be included, please make your submissions
to the church office before 10 a.m. on Tuesdays. Submissions can be
faxed to 421-0778, emailed to koney@esumc.net or brought to the
church office.
Welcome Visitors!
If this is your first time worshiping with us, we welcome you. As a
church we are committed to Love Jesus Christ and to Share His Love.
We offer three services: 8:30 and 11 a.m. are traditional, and 9:45 a.m.
is contemporary.
~ Our Welcome Center is located in Oberholtzer Hall, the room next
to the sanctuary. Brochures on all our ministries are available there.
~ Our Holy Grounds Café is a place for light refreshments and coffee
from 8:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. each Sunday in our Fellowship Hall. The
café provides worshipers with an informal opportunity for fellowship.
~ Our Infant and Toddler Nurseries are available every Sunday from
8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. They are located on the lower level of the church
and are staffed with our full-time, professional attendants and parent
volunteers.
~ Children’s Church for ages four through third grade is offered at the
11 a.m. service and is guided by a parent volunteer. Children will be
dismissed after the Children’s Message. Please pick up your children
from the lower level classrooms of the church following worship.
Congregational Care
Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one Christian Caring
Ministry in which trained and supervised lay persons, called
Stephen Ministers, walk beside adults who are facing
difficult times such as divorce, loss of a loved one, illness,
and life struggles of all types. For more information, please contact

Free Thanksgiving Day Dinner is being held at St. Luke's Church, 9th
& Main Sts., Stroudsburg, November 25 from noon - 2 p.m. For

Blood Pressures will be taken in Fellowship Hall Sunday, November
14 from 9:30-10 a.m., 10:45-11:15 a.m., and 12-12:30 p.m.

Leisure Activities
Adult Co-ed Recreational Basketball meets every Monday at 8 p.m.
in the Fellowship Hall. For more information call John at 426-7574.
Adult Basketball for men meets every Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. in the
Fellowship Hall. For more information call Eric at 242-6047.
Hiking led by Dave Strunk and Bob Rosenberger will meet November
21. The group will leave the parking lot at 12:15 p.m. Hikes are for
anyone who can hike trails of 2-5 miles, rated easy to moderate. For

 Youth Ministry - Entering 7th - 12th Grades

Jr. & Sr. High Sunday School Classes meet weekly at 11 a.m. in the
Youth Room. We split into Jr. and Sr. High classes at 11:15 a.m.
Sunday Night Program will be held this Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. in
the Youth Room. There will be a mix of games, worship, message, and
discussion.
Youth Praise Band practices every Wednesday from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in
the Youth Room. Anyone interested should contact Scott Kuhnle.
Weekly Thursday Schedule
• J.A.M, after- school program, for 6-7-8th grades is from 2:45 - 5
p.m. Church vans will be available to pick up any interested
students from JTL, Stroudsburg Middle and Jr. High. JAM is a time
of fun and fellowship. Permission forms are needed.
• Fellowship Meal from 5 - 6 p.m. for all 7 - 12th grade students.
• Jr. & Sr. High Small Group Bible Studies are from 6-7:30 p.m.
Youth Praise Dance (ages 9 and up) meets in the Fellowship Hall every
Sunday from 5-6 p.m. Praise dance encourages the dancers to
choreograph their own praise dance as an expression of their faith.
Youth Rally to Ocean City, MD: Mark your calendars now for the
Youth Rally weekend of January 8. To see the bands and speakers for

Adult Discipleship
An Advent Study will be offered to help you make this Advent season
a time to grow closer to Christ. The program will include video-based
teaching, small group discussion, a community meal, and Christmas
carols. If you would like to serve by leading small group discussions or

If you have a prayer request, please list it either on the prayer sheet in the rear
of the sanctuary or on the back of the friendship pad, making sure to include
your name on the request. This aids us in updating weekly requests.

Congregational News
Caitlin Mary McCarthy and Andrew William Johnson invite the

Women of Faith Night Out! Thursday, November 11 for a trip to
Hackmans and dinner out. We will be leaving church at 5:45 p.m.

Seniors Workers Action Team will meet November 23 at 8:30 a.m. for
breakfast in Fellowship Hall and then from 9 - noon work throughout

Older Kids for those 55+ will meet Monday, November 8 for a
Thanksgiving Dinner at the Monroe County Career and Technical

Church Conference - Wednesday, November 10 at 7 p.m. Led by our
District Superintendent Rev. Bronwyn Yocum we will vote on our
church vision, nomination of leaders, pastoral salaries and appointments.
Stewardship Team will share the 2011 budget. Everyone is encouraged
to attend. Please note, you must be a church member to vote.

everyone in our congregation in 2011 to know and follow Christ by:

Missions and Outreach
Calling All Women to attend the Annual World Thank Offering
Saturday, November 13 at 9 a.m in the Bridal Lounge foe a program
reflecting on the issues of "plenty" and "enough." The World Thank
Offering allows us to share a portion of God's blessing with others. The
funds collected are use in the program of mission through the United
Methodist Women's Division in the United States and world.
Stine Class Collects Cell Phones for Soldiers - Why not donate your
old phone into a prepaid calling card for U.S. troops stationed overseas.
A box is located in Oberholtzer Hall until Christmas.
Partner Families Needed - Monroe County Habitat for Humanity is
accepting applications. In order to qualify you must meet certain criteria
and have lived in the county for one year. Habitat is a housing ministry
who partners with families to build or rehab a house and then sells the
house to them for a no-interest mortgage. For information, please call

Children’s Ministry - Birth - 6 th Grades
J.A.M. - after-school program for sixth, seventh and eighth graders
meet from 2:45 - 5 p.m. at the church. Church vans will be available to
pickup any interested students from JTL, Stroudsburg Middle and Jr.
High. JAM is a time of fun and fellowship. Permission forms are
needed; please email Scott at skuhnle@esumc.net.
Lord’s Army, our after-school program for fourth-fifth graders, is
Tuesday, November 9 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Everyone should bring a
children’s book in good used condition to participate in our mission
outreach project. Transportation from local schools is limited, please
call Sue Randall to register at 421-3280.
Youth Praise Dance (9 years and up) meets in the Fellowship Hall
every Sunday from 5 - 6 p.m. For more information, contact Tracy

Instructional Basketball - Mr. Mercurio is introducing two groups this
year focusing on teaching basic basketball skills and sportsmanship in
a safe environment. Both groups are open to boys or girls and meet
weekly on Monday nights from November 15 - March 28 in Fellowship
Hall. Ages 6-8 is from 6-6:45 p.m. and 9-12 is from 6:45- 8 p.m. For
