The first book talks about a 12-year-old boy named Percy Jackson who studies at the

Yancy Academy a private school for children with problems, in upstate New York. He relates

that when he was in sixth grade he had a trip to Manhattan to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to

see Greek and Roman things, he said that the excursion would not be so boring because it would

be directed by Mr. Brunner, his Latin teacher which was fun and also I let them play in class.

He longed for the excursion to go well and for once in his life he did not get in trouble,

since on the excursions he always got into trouble like when in the fifth he went to the battlefield

of Saratoga, where he had that accident with the cannon. The American War of Independence or

during the visit to the facilities of the shark pool at Marine World, gave him the wrong lever on

the catwalk and his class ended up taking an unexpected dip.

On this trip he promised to behave well. During the trip Nancy Bobofit was throwing

pieces of sandwich to his friend Grover, Grover was the biggest guy in the class he already had

acne and a little beard. Percy was supporting her all the way because she was in probation and

threatened with a temporary expulsion.

Mr. Brunner was conducting the visit to the museum. He went ahead, in his wheelchair,

guiding the course through the huge and resonant galleries, through marble statues and glass

cabinets full of old pottery. It seemed surprising to Percy that everything had survived more than

two thousand or three thousand years.

 Percy Jackson tried to pay attention to the explanation in the museum, but the others did

not shut up and every time he asked for silence, Professor Dodds looked at him badly. Mrs.

Dodds was a math teacher from Georgia who always wore a leather jacket, and was in her late

fifties. She had come to Yancy halfway through the course, when her previous math teacher

suffered a nervous breakdown.

From the first day, Mrs. Dodds worshiped Nancy Bobofit and he classified him as a

spawn of the devil. Once having forced him to erase answers from old math workbooks until

midnight, Percy told his friend Grover that he did not think Mrs. Dodds was human.

Then Mr. Brunner asked Percy what the painting they were seeing was about and he

explained that it was Cronos devouring his children, that Cronos was the titan and he did not

trust his children who were gods. So chronos ate them, but hopefully his wife hid Zeus and when

he grew up cheated on his father to vomit his brothers and sisters and thus generated a fight

between gods and titans where the gods won.

After the whole class had to go out for lunch and Percy and his friend Grove sat in a

fountain so that others would not realize they were part of that school. Nancy Bobofit

approached them and started to annoy them so he could not take it anymore and from one

moment to another I pushed her to the fountain and I was all soaked. Professor Dodds noticed

and first made sure Nancy was okay and then told Percy to go with her inside the museum when

she got inside Mrs. Dodds told Percy to confess his secret or he would suffer more, he did not

understand She spoke, so she did not answer anything and the strangest thing in the world

happened: her eyes began to shine like coals in a barbecue, her fingers lengthened and became

claws, her jacket melted into enormous wings, Percy was stunned. Then Mr. Brunner appeared

and threw a pen at Percy which became a sword, Mrs. Dodds threw herself at him and he pierced
her sword and she became a cloud of yellow dust. After all that Percy reacted and was alone with

a pen in his hand Mr. Brunner was gone.

Percy went out to the playground where they had taken lunch and was Nancy and his

friend Grove, Nancy told him he was waiting and Professor Kerr had punished him, but he did

not understand anything they did not have a teacher with that name. Then he went up to his

friend Grove and asked for Mrs. Dodds and he did not know what Percy was talking about.

Finally I ask Mr. Brunner for Mrs. Dodds and he answered that neither the Yancy Academy nor

on that tour had a Mrs. Dodds.
