We all want to achieve happy live

We have different levels of consciousness


everybody has this buddha nature, that
consciousness is the basis of your buddha nature
We all have five senses, each has a consciousness
behind it
when you see, hear or smell something, you will
remember
six mental consciousness follow that senses
behind organ function, these mental consciousness
still function,
In buddhist there's
"settle mental form"
in deep sleep, in dreams, there is a level of
consciousness
on the different situation, there are different level
of consciousness.
We all have them
we all have the same potential .

So in this world,
we have all the ability to solve problems.
With human body, human brain, activate that kind
of wisdom for problems
Stop thinking of there's something special about
you.
That is wrong.
You also have the same nature of Buddha, there's
no creator, we ourselves is also the creator.
My own samsara is my own creation, my own
distractive emotion is my own creation.
I can try to remove the negative emotion
the ultimate solution is to remove our own
ignorance,
and develop the right awareness of reality.

I'm going to talk about how to be a calm person ,


have a calm mind, and physically as well.

Usually, a healthy body, is easier to treat when


have sickness, with an experienced doctor's
treatment.
but I had a serious sickness one time, very
dangerous stage,
it took five days for me to recover, but the doctors
and nurses are surprised, it should take longer, but
for me it only take a short time because
I have a calm mind.
they say when I was there, that part of the hospital
feel different, more calm,
after I went away, it's different.

Through training on mind, on awareness, you can


change the others.
Ultimate source of satisfaction is not from money,
fame, material value,
if you let it be that way, you have a miserable live.
and it bring negative feelings like jealousy
when jealousy appear in the family or friend,
it damage the trust, the relationship grow thinner
even you are a president or any other high state, all
suffer.
The inner value is very important
So nowadays we Tibetan. we really worship money,
especially dollar,
our way approach the solution of our problem
thousands after thousands of tibetan across the
border to other country
Not to seek the solution of our country, but to seek
dollars.
Not Tibetan spiritual value, or our true long term
treasure.
So I talk about Middle way
Some time I joke Om mani pad me hum sounds like
"Money"
Tibetan also like money.

India, also have thousand years old treasure. be


awareness.
Sometimes I hear tourist saying they have money,
but they cant spent time thinking about spiritual
things.
because all their lives they spent with material
attractions, they need new stuff all the time, they
can't spent time think about inner value, so they
turn away to other stuff soon after.

One time I meet a Catholic monk, he organised my


visit,
he spent five years in a isolated monastery,
I asked him, you spent five years in the mountain.
What did you practise?
He said: Compassion for life
He has really emotion in his eyes.
This monk, like Hindu or Tibetan, they spent much
time meditate,
It's worthy to spent time to develop these inner
value.

If you live in a more balance way, your health will


improve.
Emotion such like anger, slowly eating our immune
system.
But through meditate, you will improve this.
there are scientific significant prove.
after few weeks people who meditate, become
much peaceful improved, happier.
there are other experiment, also like that.
Human intelligence is precious,
we cannot see reality objectively.
not holitiscly.
In order to see reality, we have to see things
sharply, your mind has to be calm, not disturbed.
Intellectual level you know right and wrong, but
emotional level, you are more neutral.

Few days ago I burst my temper,


If our basic emotion is calm, these temper will
come and go,
like ocean, the different emotions come and go,
like a wave on the surface,
but the calm ocean remain.
biologically, negative emotion push things away,
but good emotion embrace things in.
even the flower has this nature, chemical it has.

Training your mind on certain things like


meditation.
let our mind farmilier with this, you can watch
anger from yourself
once you can separate anger from yourself, it's
possible through training.
that's what I mean human intelligence is precious.

When I see happiness, I mean deeper satisfaction.


happy not necessarily happy experience, it's
mainly satisfaction.
We should pay more attention on inner value.
even you want to hit someone, you have to
approach calmly,
then you'll achieve, not when you are full with
anger emotion,
your attitude remain calm, your enemy will come
even closer.
the best way to hit your enemy is to have a calm
mind, when you succeed you even have a deeper
satisfaction

Use our inner value for the reality.


This is the human value, not the religion.

on religion, like India, they have thousand years old


culture,
their family all live together, community is really
together, this is precious in all the world.
There are other country have very small
community, but very happy settling.
In India, "Non Violence" and "religious harmony" is
the most precious thing.
I think in the world nowadays need these two
value.

The religious leader, teacher should come out to


promote these thousand years old value. Come out
and be active, share these value which grow thin
and nearly disappeared. like Taoism, Indian culture,
If there are somethings need to change, needs
change.
Political or other part in the religion, if out of date,
must go.
but precious spiritual value, must keep.
That I feel important.

Question

Attachment is a bad emotion, but compassion is


also an emotion, how to 分別拿捏

A: Attachment is good, but it bring suspicion


and Compassion is different, not attachment
we can detach 自己的
只關心「我所認識的、我的朋友、我的家人」不是慈悲
慈悲不是以自我為中心
The person like me, want happiness not suffering,
but are going through suffering, the caring for
those, is compassion,
all the people, all the same people, we are the
same, that is unbios.
bios attachment is not attachment.
Bios or short sighted desire, must reduce,
selfishness, ego feeling must be there,
in order to grow compassion, ego or strong self,
must remain,
such the need and power, is a good power to
develop, in order to serve others.
like anger, out of self ignorance or negative
objective, sometimes is helpful,

In Buddha there are 3 category


1. Reality, like Science about mental and mind.
2. Concept, Philosophy (like 無常) is on the basis of
reality
3. Religion, how to train our mind. vows or other
ways to train our mind.

那爛陀大學的傳統,是辯論 Reasoning. not praying. not


religion. Very good logician, in Tibetan as well. but
in China, not much.

Full knowledge of mental system, is very


important, for this.

Q: Where to find compassion for the wicked?

A: Purely for their concern of well being, long term,


they must stop, it's silly to hurt others to achieve
their own goal.
Something keen to harm other or long term
harmful,
????

I think human spent too much time spent praying
before, but last 2 century we spent on science,
technology.
It really transformed the world.
In 20th century, it became the century of blood.
before, the distraction is limited. because not
enough power,
but last century, vas number of people were killed,
because the weapon is more powerful.
Now people more distanced, not trusting each
other.
I think we should research on the science on good
side not the distractive side.
Things are changing, people from China, before,
they say religious is bad, but recently they
liberalised the economy,
Recently a survey on how many Buddhist in China,
there are over 200 million people in China is
following Buddha now.

Now, many philosopher thinker, scientist all tell us


the mind value is more important
This century, should be dialogue,
How to solve the differences through dialogue.
that both sides wins. Not one side win one side
lose, violence is like that, out of date.
This century should be peaceful, the global should
think, educate people, let we think our long term
on international level.
Must be starting individually not government, not
others, starting ourselves.
solve our problem non violent way, then our family,
then community, then country.

Through prayer will not achieve our goal, but


through action.
The Buddha's blessing entirely depend on the
prayer's hand.
The action is very important, talk too much act too
little.

Christian people really made tremendous effort on


education and health, buddhist must follow.

The change ultimately be ourselves


attention on yourself and share with others,
not start with other stuff.

To some people believe in God, they are powerful,
but some not.

多宗教,有神論,無神論,there are many


contradictions
different contradictions is necessary.
Buddha himself taught different contradictions to
his follower,
because it depends on the follower, so he taught
different things.
different location we need different approach.
these are really necessary.
no disrespect, I sometimes tell people things like
supermarket, all kinds of things, I shouldn't say the
same thing all the time, we all need different
variety of food,

One time in Chile, 一位物理學家 says


he loves physics, but he should not develop
attachment to that
I'm a buddhist, but I should not develop attachment
to buddhism.
Different thing but message the same
deep compassion, peace, such.
tremendous affecting for our mother, we all have,
with that, if we give others with affecting, they will
give you the same, but you must give first, if not,
then no friendship.
to realise that, will improve your mental health and
physical health
not about religion, on reality basis, respect all
religions, even non-religious.

There are many with realistic view and believe, in


India, even people with wrong view, they hold
respect.

Remain calm that's really important.

I am practising love, compassion.
before sleep, I remember buddha teached infinat
love,
even when in 飛機延遲, I practise meditate as much
as I can
even it not benefit others, it benefit myself.
I call that wise selfishness
當別人騙人、虛偽等等,最終會傷害自己
我了解到想像把那些惡人的惡吸收過來,把我的慈悲與愛傳送過

這可能無法實際上幫助他們,但至少可以幫助把自己的情緒改變
Through that 可以堅強自己的信心
When you face mean people, you should think of
the image of God.
Think your enemy as the image of God, this reduce
your mental irritation.

一位天主教徒,說此生世上帝創造的,上帝代表最無私的無盡的
愛,因此此生充滿了這樣的愛,當你真正的對你的宗教非常認真,
就會照真正教義去做,最終帶來好的業果。

Be more compassionate person.


Bring inner peace, then it bring a happy life.
