ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT ON SCHOOL-BASED LEARNING ACTION CELL


ON TEST CONSTRUCTION

In line with the implementation of Republic Act No. 10533, or the Enhanced Basic
Education Act of 2013, the Department of Education (DepEd) issues the enclosed policy
on The Learning Action Cell (LAC) as a K to 12 Basic Education Program School-Based
Continuing Professional Development Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and
Learning. Through this policy, the DepEd fully supports the continuing professional
development of its teaching personnel based on the principle of lifelong learning and
DepEd’s commitment to the development of teachers potential aimed towards their
success in the profession.

Furthermore, recognizing the urgent need of retooling the teachers on assessment as


stipulated in Deped Order No. 08, s. 2015, and to address the observed inadequacies of
submitted first and second quarterly test questions, a training-workshop on test
construction was conducted. This training-workshop aimed to enhance competence on
test item construction, engage in constructive critiquing and output refinement and
construct test items that are congruent to the learning competencies.
The training-workshop started with a prayer led by Mrs. Juliet A. Quinagoran,
Teacher 3, and followed with a short message given by Dr. Elmer J. Narag, the principal.
He emphasized on the need of conducting LAC session in school in order for us, teachers
to support each other to continuously improve our content and pedagogical knowledge,
practice, skills, attitudes and update us on the current trends on test construction which
are vital in giving appropriate assessment to our learners.
The training-workshop was facilitated by Mrs. Juliet B. Alan, Master Teacher 2.
She presented to the participants the following topics such as the “Overview of Bloom’s
Taxonomy,” “Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy,” and “Thinking Skills.” She gave us
substantial ideas about her lecture.
After the lecture, workshop was followed. The participants were grouped
according to Grade level and started working together on constructing test items for the
third periodical test per subject.
Due to limited time, the participants made an agreement to edit the constructed
test items at home and the final outputs will be submitted to the facilitator for further
review of the test items.
