1. use of your A2B as directed
Equipped with a modern drive system, the A2B is a Pedelec (Pedal Electric Cycle) to the standard
Passenger transport of a person in public road transport. Adjustments and repairs to the A2B
and its components
Components shall only be deemed to be intended use to the extent that they are declared and
permitted in these operating
instructions, the instructions of the component manufacturers or other documents enclosed
with the purchase of the
pedelecs. The manufacturer assumes no liability for negligently caused damage due to misuse,
improper use, improper or
omitted maintenance or repairs. It is the responsibility of the driver to check the pedelec as
prescribed, to have it repaired
and used responsibly. This instruction manual describes the use of your A2B, the components
installed on it and
corresponds to the current state of the art when printing. The manufacturer reserves the right
to make changes resulting
from the further development of the mechanics, the software or from legal requirements.

This user manual contains important information on safety, performance and
maintenance.

Please read it carefully before your first trip.


Your A2B should be properly assembled and charged before your first trip. In case of
ambiguity or obvious
defects, please contact us immediately, otherwise your warranty will expire. Please
make sure that all A2B users
read and understand the following important information.
According to the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations, a bicycle must be equipped with
two independent,
functional brakes, a clearly audible bell, headlamp, taillight, pedal reflex reflector,
side reflectors for wheels or
integrated light strips on the tyre as well as front and rear reflectors.
The A2B is suitable for driving on paved roads and pathways. Do not drive off the
beaten track or off-road. A2B
mountain bikes can also be used off-road.
Do not use the A2B for water crossings, cross-country jumps or sporting events.
We recommend that you wear a certified bicycle helmet when using the A2B at all
times and that you wear
bright or reflective clothing at night.
Make sure that you know and observe the rules of conduct for safe and responsible
driving. When driving with
the A2B, there is always a risk of serious / fatal injury or damage to property caused by
an accident. By deciding
to use the A2B, you assume full responsibility for this risk.
This user's manual does not guarantee the safe use of the A2B in all conditions.
3. components on the bike and adjustment features
3.1 Replacement of components, mounting of accessories
Before installing any components or accessories (including other tyres), check with
your dealer to see if they are
suitable for your A2B. Read and follow the instructions for each component or
accessory you have purchased
for your A2B. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the components or
accessories if they differ from these
instructions.
As with all mechanical components, your A2B is subject to a certain amount of wear
and tear. Particularly at
higher loads, wear characteristics must be taken into account. If a component's service
life is exceeded, this can
lead to an unexpected loss of function of the component, which can result in serious or
even fatal injury.
For this reason, pay attention to wear and tear such as cracks, scratches and colour
changes in highly stressed
areas on the frame, fork, wheels and handlebars, which indicate that the service life
has been reached or
exceeded. Have worn components replaced immediately by your dealer.
Failure to test, install, use and maintain any components or accessories properly may
result in serious or even
fatal injury.
Use of non-original components or spare parts may endanger the driving safety of your
A2B and void the
warranty. Replacement of components or the attachment of accessories is at your own
risk, as these parts may
possibly cause damage to the equipment. have not been tested by Hero Eco for
suitability, reliability or safety
with your A2B.
3.2 Adjusting the brake levers
Can you operate the brake levers comfortably? If this is not the case, take your A2B to
a dealer and ask them to
adjust the angle of the brake levers. Otherwise, you can adjust the angle of the brake
levers yourself as follows:
Loosen the screw under the brake lever with a suitable Allen key.
Adjust the angle as required.
Tighten the screw again and make sure that the brake lever is securely fixed in
position.
Before a short test drive, check that the brake levers are firmly seated and that they
cannot be twisted. To
adjust the brakes yourself, you should take your A2B to a dealer.

the quick-release, turn the locknut another 180º and try again. If the seat post should
be clamped with a
hexagon socket screw (INBUS), tighten the screw with the specified tightening
torque.

direction.
A saddle that is not properly secured can cause serious or even fatal injuries. Make
sure that the saddle fixation
bolt (saddle support - saddle) is tightened to the specified torque.
3.4 Seat height adjustment - theory
The seat height must be adjusted correctly. Ask your dealer to do so before your first
trip. Alternatively, you can
also adjust the seat height yourself as follows.
Determination of the correct seat height for the driver
There are several ways to determine the correct seat height, the following is a
description of the method to be
used without any additional aids: Sit down in the saddle and stretch one leg. Place the
foot with the heel on the
pedal, which is at the lowest point of the crank revolution. The knee should now be
almost pushed through. If
you are sitting on the saddle in this position, it has the right height.
Of course, do not drive with your legs stretched. If you put your foot on the pedal in the
correct driving position
(footballs with a toe base joint above the pedal axle), the knee remains slightly angled
even at the lowest point
of the crank revolution with the saddle height set correctly. A short practice session is
enough to find out if the
saddle is too high. If the pelvis tilts to the left and right at the rhythm of pedaling, the
saddle is too high. If the
saddle is too low, you will notice this only after many kilometres, mostly due to knee
pain.
How to adjust the seat height - Practice:
The seat height can be adjusted by loosening the quick-release or the Allen screw for
the seat post.
Set the saddle to the desired height. DO NOT place the saddle ON ANY OCCASION
higher than the minimum
insertion mark on the seat post.

Push the lever of the quick release lever towards the frame until it is closed again. The
lever must not protrude
to prevent you from getting injured. The lever is securely secured when it requires a
certain amount of force to
push it into the closed position. You can see the appropriate amount of force by the
fact that the lever leaves an
impression on your palm when you squeeze it. A properly closed quick-release can no
longer be moved, except
by re-opening it using the procedure described above. If you can move the mechanism
easily, open the lever of
the quick-release, turn the locknut another 180º and try again. If the seat post should
be clamped with a
hexagon socket screw (INBUS), tighten the screw with the specified tightening
torque.
After adjusting the saddle height, check that the saddle cannot be turned in any

Carrier:
Your vehicle may have a luggage carrier.
The maximum load capacity is 10 kg, unless the carrier indicates a higher load
capacity.
Make sure that the luggage is securely secured on the rack and cannot fall off while
driving. Make sure that
loose straps or other objects cannot get caught in the spokes while driving.
Do not load the carrier.
The vehicle is not designed or approved for the transport of a second person or a child
without a child seat.
The permissible total weight of your A2B must not be exceeded. The maximum
permissible total weight is
specified in the specification.
Distribute the weight of the luggage or items to be transported evenly on both sides of
the rack.
Note that luggage or other loads on the rack will change the driving behaviour of your
A2B. This applies in
particular to the steering and braking characteristics.
Failure to observe these instructions may result in serious or even fatal injury
and/or damage to property.
At the end of your first journey
If you have any questions or have the impression that your A2B is not yet optimally
adjusted and tuned to you,
we recommend that you consult your dealer before continuing to use your A2B

5.1.3 Permissible operating conditions / locations
A2B pedelecs can be operated at temperatures between -10°C and +45°C.
Observe the safety and hazard notes in the individual chapters of these operating
instructions. whose

Variant A: Installation of frame battery:
To insert the battery, insert the two holding tabs on the underside of the housing
into the battery compartment

Storage (A and B):
The battery and charger must be stored in a clean, dry and well-ventilated
environment.
A proximity to corrosive materials, sources of heat and fireplaces must be
absolutely excluded.
Storage at temperatures between -20° and +35° at a relative humidity of 5-65% RH is
permitted.
For long-term storage, the following information applies:
Completely empty the battery and charge it for about 2-3 hours. The battery should be
stored in a dry and well-
ventilated environment. During storage, the battery must be charged every two
months for 2-3 hours.
The charger must not be connected to the battery or the mains power supply during
storage - it is not a battery
refresher!
For transport, the battery should be packed in a cardboard box and protected from
shocks, impacts and direct
sunlight. Avoid immersion of the battery in water!
This battery is approved for transportation by land, sea and air in accordance with
the manufacturer's
specifications.
Charging:
The battery can be charged in the vehicle itself as well as when removed. When
charging in the vehicle, the
vehicle system must be deactivated before charging!
On the side of the battery, the charging socket cover is located at the height of the
battery level indicator
printed on the battery housing. This cover flap can be opened to the left. Underneath it
is the actual charging

Your pedelec consumes energy every time you use it. Therefore, charge the battery
after each use if possible.
The battery must only be used to power the BAFANG components. Any other use
beyond this requires the
written permission of the manufacturer.
The battery must not be opened or dismantled. Improper opening or deliberate
destruction of the battery may
cause serious injury. In addition, opening the battery will void the warranty.
Never connect the battery contacts in the socket to metallic objects or make sure that
the contacts do not come
into contact with metallic objects (e. g. metal chips) under any circumstances.
If the charging socket is dirty, clean it with a clean and dry cloth.
Never immerse the battery in water. Do not expose the battery to temperatures
below zero degrees Celsius.
The battery's service life depends on the storage location. Therefore, do not leave
the battery (whether inserted
or removed from the pedelec) in a hot place for long periods of time. In particular, the
boot of cars standing in
the sun should only be used for transport, but not generally as a place of storage.
The battery must not be exposed to mechanical shocks. For example, if the pedelec
has been tilted over and the
battery is dropped directly on the floor, the battery must be checked by the
manufacturer. Please contact your
specialist dealer for this purpose. A damaged battery must not be used again.
If the battery is damaged or defective, it must be checked. Please contact the service
department and clarify
how to proceed. The faulty/damaged battery must not be used or opened under
any circumstances.
Always ensure that the battery is kept clean and dry

5.1.4.3.2 Safety and Warnings for Storage of the Battery


Protect the battery immediately after disconnecting the charger or motor. Neither
moisture nor foreign
particles (e. g. metal splinters, small nails, chips or other conductive metals) may
penetrate the battery.
Do not expose the battery to any moisture (water, rainwater, snow, etc.) during
storage!
Store the battery in a cool, dry place where it is protected from damage and
unauthorized access.
To achieve optimum battery life, the battery should be stored at a temperature of 10°C
to 20°C and a humidity
of 0 to 80 percent. The charge level should be 70 percent.
5.1.4.3.2 Safety and warning notes on the charging process
Do not charge the battery in a ventilated, dry environment.
Never charge the battery in the presence or near flammable liquids or gases.
Do not expose the battery to any moisture (water, rainwater, snow) during
charging.
Do not charge the battery in rooms where moisture may accumulate on the battery.
Use only the charger provided to charge the battery.
The use of an unsuitable charger may cause malfunctions and result in a reduced
battery life. There is also a risk
of fire and explosion.
Once the charging process is complete, disconnect the charger from the mains socket
first and then from the
battery.
Make sure there is sufficient air circulation when the battery is charged.
Always charge the battery only under supervision.
Damaged batteries must not be charged or used.
Damaged chargers (damage to plugs, housing, cables) must not be used
Never tear the power cord to disconnect the charger from the wall outlet.
Do not expose cables and plugs to pressure. Strong stretching or kinking of the cables,
jamming of a cable into
the cable
Cable between a wall and a window frame, or placing heavy objects on a cable or plug
could cause electric
shock or fire.
Install the power cord and the charger cable located on it in such a way that no one
can step on it or trip over
it, or that both cables are not exposed to any other harmful influences or loads.
Do not operate the charger if the power cord, the charging cable, or the plugs on the
cables are damaged.
Damaged parts must be replaced immediately by an authorized dealer. Do not use or
disassemble the charger
if it has suffered a hard blow, been dropped or otherwise damaged. Take the damaged
charger to an
authorized service center for repair.

Make sure that the power plug is firmly plugged into the outlet.

5.1.5.1 Rear engine - removal and installation
The drive wheel of your pedelec can be removed from the bicycle frame at any time,
for example for cleaning
purposes or in case of a puncture. Proceed with utmost care in this respect and during
the subsequent
assembly, paying particular attention to the instructions and information provided
by the manufacturers of the
various components attached to the wheel, in particular the brake disc.
5.1.5.2 Removing the drive wheel
Before removing the drive wheel, make a note of the cable laying and the fixing points
of the cable ties. First of
all, loosen and remove all cable ties that are used to attach the cable coming from the
motor, as well as cables
and leads of other components to the bicycle frame. Then disconnect the plug on the
motor cable from the
socket on the battery cable. Loosen the two nuts or quick-release with which the wheel
is attached to the

frame, so that the complete wheel can be removed from the frame of your pedelec. If
necessary, you may have
to disengage the brake. Never hold or transport the removed wheel on the cable
coming from the motor! There
is a risk of cable breakage.
5.1.5.3 Attaching the drive wheel
Make sure that all components attached to the wheel are installed in accordance
with the manufacturer's
instructions and specifications. This applies in particular to the brakes and gear
shifting. Do not forget to
reassemble the torque arm/discs in the same position in which they were removed
before. Then slide the wheel
into the frame's seat and tighten it with the axle nut in the following order:
First tighten on the side of the gear shift then apply the brake on the side of the brake
The tightening torque of the two nuts is between 30 and 40 Nm. Make sure that the
washer is located under
the axle nut, otherwise there is a risk of loosening the axle nut.
If your wheels are equipped with quick-release clamps, please observe the
manufacturer's instructions for
assembly and tightening torque.
If the wheel is correctly attached to the frame, the motor can be connected to the end
of the cable leading to
the battery. Make sure that the plug is correctly aligned with the socket. Attach all
cables and supply lines to the
bicycle frame with cable ties and carry out a final function test. Make sure that the
cables are correctly routed,
as the cable could get caught in the brake disc, drive unit or spokes if they are
incorrectly routed, which could
cause the wheel to lock and fall.
6. cleaning, care and maintenance
6.1 Maintenance
Have your A2B checked by a dealer at least once a year. Please refer to the section
Maintenance schedule.
6.1.1.1 Wheels
The front and rear wheels should be centered in the fork and frame. Check the wheels
regularly for correct
spoke tension and rim alignment. DO NOT use your A2B with damaged or missing
spokes. The wheels should
run evenly and without fluttering vertically or vertically.
6.1.2 Hub bearings
Check the seat of the hub bearings regularly by lifting and rotating the wheel from the
ground and by trying to
move the rim sideways between the fork or frame. There should be no lateral
movement. If you notice a
movement in the lateral direction of a wheel, the hub bearings must be adjusted or
replaced.
6.1.3 Rims
The rims should not show any cracks, dents or flat spots. If necessary, take your A2B
to a dealer for repair
and/or adjustment of the wheels.
6.1.4 Drive chain
Your A2B has a high-quality chain. This must be cleaned regularly and lubricated with
a synthetic lubricant
specially recommended for bicycles.
6.1.1 Brakes
Check the brake cables for signs of wear and abrasion. Tighten the brake lever firmly
and check that the brakes
function properly. Make sure that the rotors are free of residues and oil. Never wait
until the brake linings are
completely worn. Replace the brake pads if necessary. If your brake pads look worn
out or the brakes do not
respond as well as usual, ask a specialist dealer to check and replace them. Brakes
are less effective in wet
conditions

Penetrating water can destroy the engine. When cleaning, always ensure that
neither liquids nor moisture
penetrate into the motor.
Do not clean the engine while it is warm, e. g. immediately after a trip. Wait until he's
cooled down. Otherwise,
damage may occur.
If the motor is removed, e. g. for cleaning purposes, it must never be attached to the
cables or transported,
otherwise there is a risk of cable breakage.
If the motor has been removed from the frame of the pedelec, the plug of the motor
and the socket of the
cable to the battery pack must be checked or cleaned for possible contamination
before assembling.
7 Transport
When transporting the pedelec with a car, the following instructions must be
observed:
Protect all components of your pedelec from wetness and dirt by taking appropriate
measures.
Remove the battery before attaching the pedelec to the wheel carrier of your car. This
also reduces the weight,
which you have to lift especially with a roof rack system.
Always transport the battery in the boot of your car.
The battery should also be removed when transporting indoors (e. g. in a station
wagon) to prevent damage
during loading and driving.
For carrier systems with downpipe clamping, ensure that the battery mounting rail
is not crushed/damaged
when the clamping device is tightened.
Make sure that the cable ends cannot cause damage to the pedelec or your car while
driving.
After driving, check all pedelec contacts for possible foreign bodies or wetness. In
order to ensure safe
functioning, all plug connections in particular must be free of dirt and foreign bodies
and completely dry.
Never place your pedelec on the side of the gear shift during transport, for example in
the boot of a car. This
could damage it
8 Warnings
If not in use, do not expose your pedelec to strong sunlight. As a result,
the engine heats up and in extreme cases the full power cannot be delivered. Plastic
parts also age more quickly
under intensive sunlight.
If there is a system standstill due to increased temperatures (e. g. caused by
uninterrupted driving or
permanent direct sunlight), allow the engine to cool down for about 10 minutes before
continuing your journey.

10 Obligatory information on battery disposal:

11 Maintenance schedule
Your A2B pedelec should be serviced at regular intervals. At least once a year or
every 2500 km the most important points should be checked and wear parts
replaced. We recommend using the
following maintenance plan. Not regular maintenance can void the warranty on
components. We
also recommend an initial inspection.
