❖ Good writing connects things.

❖ Good writing tells a story that the reader can relate to.
❖ Correct writing , good spelling (orthography)
❖ Writing that is simply neat and clear is said to be done with good penmanship.

❖ Good writers read.

❖ Words are the life blood of great writing.
❖ Can't get good without lots of valuable input
GET AN EDITOR

❖ Recognizes they needs help. They can't do this on there own.

❖ Needs to get someone to critique your writing
❖ Someone you trust – a person who will call you out and hold you accountable.
❖ Not someone who will just watch your typos but someone who will tell you , you could do better .
CAPTURE IDEAS

❖ Constantly gathering creative input.

❖ Inspiration for artists and writers
❖ Have a system for collecting them
❖ Have a notebook to write down your tasks is important
❖ Concept is to get things out of your head, onto paper
WRITE EVERYDAY

❖ You can't get good without any practice

❖ Just for a few minutes
❖ Don’t write a lot. Just write often.
❖ The idea is repetition – developing a discipline of showing up, making this a priority, and working through the
resistance.
REWRITE

❖ Essential part of writing.

❖ Extracting the essential meaning or most important aspects of something .its not pretty but its necessary. “killing
your darlings”-Stephen king ( this is hard, but important)
❖ Distilling the fluff down to some core content that will make a difference.
STRUGGLES

❖ Distractions – can't turn your brain off , people talking to you , text messages, phone calls
❖ Endless brainstorms ( love ideas )
WHY I WANT TO BE A WRITER

❖ Something that will change peoples lives

❖ To write something worth listening to
