1 SCOPE

1.1 This specification is for design, manufacture, testing and shipping of dry transformers (hereinafter
called transformer).

1.2 Dry transformer is only applied to the load such as lighting, receptacle and small power (space heater
power, HVAC load, single phase motor).

1.3 This specification shall be read in conjunction with the data sheet.

2 STANDARDS AND CODES

2.1 The assemblies shall be constructed, wired, and tested in accordance with all applicable section of the
lasts Standards and Codes, as marked as below; (V)

(V) Korea Industrial Standard (KS) & Local Code

(V) National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA)

(V) Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE)

(V) American National Standards Institute, Inc. (ANSI)

(V) International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)

(V) National Electrical Code (NEC) (ANSI C1) (NFPA No.70)

(V) Vietnam Standards and Quality Institute (TCVN / QCVN)

2.2 It shall be the Vendors and/or Manufacturer's responsibility to be or to become, knowledgeable of the
requirements of these Standards and Codes. Any changes or alternations to the equipment to make it
meet Standards and Codes requirements shall be at the expense of the Vendor

3 GENERAL

3.1 Document shall be written in English and all dimensions shall be in SI units.

3.2 Any conflict(s) between this specification, engineering drawings and data sheets shall be resolved at
the discretion of purchaser.

4 ENVIRONMENTAL

4.1 Refer PP4-EL-0701S “Electrical Design Basis and Philosophy” Para 3 for environmental conditions.

4.2 Dry transformer shall be installed as specified in data sheet with acceptable enclosure for
environmental condition of installation area.

5 DESIGN AND CONSTURCTION

5.1 General

5.1.1 Unless otherwise noted, these shall be utilized with a primary supply voltage not to exceed 400V, 1
50Hz, single or three phase and shall be self-cooled. Data sheet shall be completed by all parties as
required for each transformer and submitted as part of the final documentation.

5.1.2 Transformer shall be two-winding type, unless otherwise specified.

5.1.3 Dry transformer shall be applied less than or equal to 300kVA. 1

5.1.4 Base plate size and construction shall be designed by Vendor in order to bear the weight of dry
transformer. Base plate will be installed under access floor and the material shall be provided by
Vendor.

5.1.5 The load will consist of lightings, receptacle, HVAC or single phase motor, etc. Dry transformer shall
be designed as continuous duty.

5.2 Ratings

5.2.1 Voltage and frequency variation

(a) Primary voltage and frequency

Voltage variation : ±10% of the rated voltage


Frequency variation : ±5% of the rated frequency

(b) Secondary voltage and frequency

Voltage variation : ±5% of the rated voltage


Frequency variation : ±5% of the rated frequency

5.2.2 The rated capacity, rated power factor, rated primary voltage, rated secondary voltage, and rated
frequency of the transformers shall be as specified in the data sheets. The rated capacity of a
transformer is the apparent power (kVA) available at the secondary terminals, at the principal tap, at
the rated secondary voltage tap rated frequency and the rated power factor, without exceeding the
specified limits of temperature rise.

5.3 Enclosure

5.3.1 Enclosure shall be free-standing, dead-front steel structures and metal-enclosed, containing a ground
bus, necessary auxiliary devices, meters and other.

5.3.2 Equipment shall be for indoor use and degree of protection shall be minimum IP41. For outside non-
hazardous area, enclosure shall be minimum IP54 with rain shield.

5.3.3 The enclosure shall be designed to operate satisfactorily at a maximum ambient temperature as stated
specification.

5.3.4 Each enclosure shall be natural ventilated structure and shall be made for locking breakers in
withdrawn position.

5.3.5 Paint shall comply with Manufacturer’s Standards. Final outside and inside finish color shall be
‘MUNSELL No. 5Y 7/1’.

5.4 Core

5.4.1 The core shall be exclusively of cold-rolled electrical silicon-steel sheet coated with magnesium- 1
silicate-phosphate insulation on both sides.

5.4.2 To fully utilize the electrical of the laminations, the ends of the limbs and yokes mitered and stacked
together by overlapping the laminations in pairs, which will reduce the no-load losses and thus the
power required for magnetizing the core.

5.4.3 The core will be rigidly clamped with positive locking devices to ensure adequate mechanical strength
to support the winding and also to prevent shifting of laminations during transport and further to
reduce vibration to a minimum during operation.

5.4.4 Lifting eyes or lugs shall be provided at suitable point of the core assembly.

5.5 Winding

5.5.1 The winding shall be rectangular or round section electric copper covered with several layer of high 1
quality insulation paper or enamel coating of high dielectric strength, resist moisture, sea atmosphere
and oil vapors.

5.5.2 The coils shall withstand short circuits, overloads and high-voltage without local overheating.

5.5.3 If not otherwise indicated, the transformer windings shall resist the thermal and mechanical stresses
caused by short circuits supplied from a system of infinite power.

5.5.4 The arrangement of tapping shall be in such a manner that the magnetic symmetry of windings is
maintained to the maximum extent under all tapping conditions.

5.5.5 The assembled core and windings shall be dried in vacuum to ensure proper moisture removal.

5.5.6 For dry transformer, insulation class shall be class H and temperature rising degree is H. 1

5.6 Dial type thermometer

5.6.1 Dial type thermometer measures the winding temperature and the air temperature around the upper
parts of transformer winding.

5.6.2 Contact for alarm of overload protection shall be incorporated in the thermometer and a maximum
pointer shall be provided for trip contact. Thermal sensor, indicator and the major part of the
intermediate flexible tube are jointed into one-body.

5.6.3 The maximum pointer shall indicate the highest temperature during a certain period of operation. The
pointer and the fixed pointer have electric contact. Alarm and trip temperature shall be proposed by
Vendor documents.

5.7 Cooling

5.7.1 Transformers shall be designed for continuous self-cooled (AN) operation at the kVA rating specified
on the data sheet.

5.7.2 When data sheets specified cooling fans (AF), cooling fan control shall normally be automatic from
winding temperature indicator relay or transformer load. A manually operated switch shall be
furnished for selecting either automatic or manual control.

5.7.3 When the data sheets specified provisions for fans, the Vendor shall provide mounting brackets and
winding temperature indicator relay with alarm contacts for cooling fan.

5.8 Tap and Tap Changers

5.8.1 Unless otherwise specified on the data sheets, each transformer shall be furnished with a no voltage 1
tap changer for de-energized operation. The tap changer shall have a minimum of for 5 ( ) rated
voltage taps with total three tap voltage at transformer primary.

6 MISCELLANEOUS

6.1 Nameplates

6.1.1 Every transformer shall have a rating plate fixed to a non-removable structure part. It shall be visible
rating plate.

6.1.2 Rating plates shall be made of non-corrosive material. As a minimum the plate shall include the
following

(a) Complete electrical data


(b) Wiring diagram
(c) Tap connections
(d) Manufacturers’ name
(e) Catalog number
(f) Mfg. Serial No.
(g) Vector group

6.1.3 The front and rear sides of each cubicle shall be equipped with durable plastic nameplates marking the
service of the cubicle. Nameplates shall be white background with black color letter. The size of these
interchangeable plates shall be approximately 90 x 300 mm.

6.1.4 Dry transformers shall also be furnished with a general description nameplate. Text of the nameplates
shall be as per the one-line diagram.

6.1.5 Externally visible, permanent 30 x 90 mm nameplates shall be provided to identify each instrument,
instrument switch, meter, relay, control switch, indicating light, circuit breaker compartment, and
auxiliary compartment.

6.1.6 Equipment and terminal blocks within the compartments shall be suitably identified. Relays shall be
designated as to use and as to the phase to which they are connected. Nameplates shall be laminated
plastics. Characters shall be black on a white background.

6.1.7 Nameplates shall be attached using stainless steel drive screws. Glued or press-on type fastening is not
accepted. Wording on nameplates, instruction signs, etc. shall be in English only.

6.2 Accessories

6.2.1 Each transformer shall be equipped with all Vendors’ normally furnished standard accessories.

6.2.2 The bolts & nuts shall be effectively locked so that they are not loosened by vibration caused by
transportation and operation.

7 ENGINEERING DATA REQUIREMENTS

7.1 All engineering data provided for this equipment shall show equipment as specified and ordered.
Engineering data shall be supplied as listed on the "Vendor's Drawing and Data commitment" form
attached to the bid documents, in the quantities shown and shall be submitted to the Purchaser by the
dates specified. Engineering data shall be in English with all units in the metric system.

7.2 Installation, operating, and maintenance instructions shall cover all the provided equipment and shall
include the time-current characteristic curves for all protective devices.

7.3 Complete spare parts list for each type of equipment which the manufacturer recommends, including
parts location diagrams, drawings, and prices shall be submitted.

7.4 A material list shall be provided and shall include the quantity, rating, type, and Manufacturer's
catalog number of all equipment in each unit.

7.5 Drawings of transformers for approval shall be submitted as follows:

(a) Structural Drawing, completely dimensioned shall include:

Required clearances for opening doors and for removing breakers


Conduit or cable entrance locations for both top and bottom entrance
Incoming and outgoing cable terminator positions
Purchaser's wiring terminal block locations and all other terminal block location
Anchor bolt locations
Grounding connections.
Weight of equipment. Individual weights of stationary units and breakers if shipped
separately.

(b) One and Three line Diagrams, shall include:

Instrument transformers.
Relays with ANSI device number.
Meters and meter switches.
Other pertinent devices.

(c) Elementary Diagrams

Each elementary diagram shall show all control devices and device contacts, each of which
shall be labeled with its proper ANSI device function number
Each elementary diagram shall show device and terminal block terminal numbers

(d) Detailed Connection (Wiring) Diagrams showing:

Approximate physical location of all items in each unit.


All wiring within each unit.
All interconnecting wiring between units.
Identification of all terminals, terminal blocks, and wires.
Clear identification by some distinguishing method, of all wiring which is to be installed by
Purchaser. This shall include, but not be limited to leads from external current transformers,
trip circuits from remote devices, auxiliary contacts to remote devices, incoming dc control
power, and separate incoming ac power. This shall also include spare auxiliary contacts and
relay contacts which shall be wired to terminal blocks for future use.

8 TEST AND INSPECTION

8.1 Equipment shall be completely assembled (including insertion of the breaker elements, unless
specifically noted), wired, and tested at the factory.

8.2 Factory tests shall include, but not be limited to, all applicable production tests as outlined in the latest
edition of Section2 for applicable standards. Unless otherwise specified, the following tests shall be
conducted prior to shipping; Vendor shall be submitted the certified copies of the test results.

(a) Inspection of Dimensions and Construction

(b) Winding Resistance Measurement

(c) Insulation Resistance Measurement

(d) Polarity Test

(e) Voltage Ratio Measurement

(f) No Load loss and excitation current measurement

(g) Short Circuit Test (Copper Loss and Impedance Voltage Measurement)

(h) Calculation of Efficiency and Voltage Regulation

(i) Temperature Test

(j) Applied Potential and Induced Potential Tests

(k) Impedance voltage and load loss measurement

(l) Dielectric test

8.3 The Vendor shall give the purchaser adequate advance notification of the tests schedule for the
opportunity to witness any or all tests.

9 SHIPPING

9.1 The method of preparation for shipment shall be such as to protect the case, fan, core and coils,
auxiliary devices or accessories from corrosion, dampness, breakage, or vibration injury that might be
encountered in transportation and handling.

9.2 The transformers shall be shipped as complete as possible consistent with average shipping limitations
and protection to the equipment.

9.3 All transformers shall be suitable for standing for long periods prior to commissioning; therefore, all
cable entry holes shall be suitable sealed so as to prevent the ingress of water.
