CAD DRAWING FORMAT FOR AUTO-SCRUTINY OF DRAWING

APPROACH FOR PREPARING PASSING DRAWINGS AS PER SET PROTOCOL

Background
Government of Gujarat has planned to automate the building plan approval process by introducing AutoDCR system.
AutoDCR software reads the CAD drawings submitted by architects and automatically produce the deviation report
based on the control regulations prescribed by government.

The purpose of this document is to establish a set of guidelines to Architects/consultants for preparation of drawings
to be submitted for taking Building Permission from authority and to bring uniformity in the process of drafting of
the drawings to be submitted for approval through automated drawing scrutiny system.

The consultants/Architects needs to prepare the drawings keeping specific objects in specific layers with specific
colors and text. A standard protocol is set to prepare the drawing using specific layers/color/text and this document
describes the approach of preparing submission/municipal drawing. This document serves as a source of information
on approach in obtaining level of consistency in drafting and focuses on both the theoretical and practical
description of methodology to be used while preparing drawings for submission.

The Consultants/Architects can prepare drawing with the help of this document. Document explains four
approaches:

 Approach 1: Preparing drawing using utility based 3rd party CAD software (AutoCAD/ZWCAD).
 Approach 2: Preparing drawing using CAD software independent open source utility.

Approach for preparing drawing using set guidelines/protocol

AutoDCR is a unique and innovative approach to automate scrutiny of building proposals by reading CAD drawings.
AutoDCR software needs preformatted drawings with some specifications. Applicant/Architect can choose any of the
following 4 options to prepare his drawing in the required format.

Option 1- Preparing drawing using utility based 3rd party CAD software (AutoCAD/ZWCAD).

Architects/consultants can download a CAD based utility from https://townplanning.gujarat.gov.in/act-

legislation/ODPS.aspx Using this utility, architects can create required layers automatically in the drawing, insert
required text and objects in the drawing. This utility will also check drawing integrity and highlight drafting errors
present in the drawing. This utility is compatible with AutoCAD and ZWCAD application.

Option 2- Preparing drawing using CAD software independent open source utility.

Architects/consultants can download a CAD based utility from https://townplanning.gujarat.gov.in/act-

legislation/ODPS.aspx This utility will work without any 3rd party CAD application. The utility has a user friendly CAD

interface which will help architects create required layers automatically in the drawing, insert required text and
objects in the drawing. This utility will also check drawing integrity and highlight drafting errors present in the
drawing.

These help manuals should be read in conjunction with the building bye-laws which will be applicable for approval of
a proposal. The reader of these documents should have understood the applicable bye laws for scrutiny of a
proposal. The reader should also be familiar with AutoCAD terminology and environment for better understanding of
the system. It is more exploratory in nature than the specifications and contains sections to explain particular aspect
of planning and designing.
