Summary Statement
Steph’s Sweets is a dessert bakery located in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was founded on the idea
that no matter how your day has been or what your mood is, there will always be something to
lift your spirits. Steph’s Sweets aims to meet all of your sugary needs by providing a variety of
cupcake flavors, drinks, and other sweet treats. No matter what you’re craving, there is sure to
be something towards your liking on the menu.
Being located in the great city of Las Vegas, Steph’s Sweets is at the hub of all things
entertainment. As a dessert bakery, we strive to cater to people of all demographics. Whether
you’re old or young, rich or poor, Steph’s Sweets is sure to have you covered!
Here at Steph’s Sweets, our mission is to provide you with not only satisfaction, but also
memories. We strive to make eating an enjoyable experience by providing our customers with
quality treats that will leave you wanting more!
Steph’s Sweets is distinguishable amongst other catering/bakery services due to our low prices
and amazing deals! We understand that eating out can often cost an arm and a leg, and so it is
our goal to have you leaving with a full stomach, and a full wallet. Our business is driven by our
customers, so we strive to treat our customers with the best service and provide them with an
unforgettable experience.

Market Analysis
Steph’s Sweets
Las Vegas, Nevada
Las Vegas is a very popular city that continues to grow annually, with a key feature being that it
is the hub for all things regarding entertainment. Known for gambling, shopping, fine dining,
and nightlife (World Population Review 2019), Las Vegas is marketed as the Entertainment
Capital of the World.
With a population of 2.2 million and a projected population of 2.5 million by the year 2031, Las
Vegas is a highly populated city with an estimated 4,376 people per square mile. Not only is the
city very population dense, but it also has a high tourist rate, with an estimate of 42.12 million
visitors in the year 2018. Tourists visit Las Vegas for a variety of reasons, among the most
popular being entertainment, weddings, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and business
conventions.
Due to the high population and influx of tourists, Steph’s Sweets will have a large market
available not just for catering, but also to simply serve the general public at our local shop. The
average age of Las Vegas residents is 31.5, which for this city is actually the average age people
get married. Marriage rates are up with Las Vegas having one of the highest marriage rates in
the United States. This means that there will be plenty of catering opportunities for weddings,
as well as bachelor/bachelorette parties.
Average income for Las Vegas residents is roughly $53,159 for households, $62,786 for families,
and $76,912 for married families. Of this income, nearly 50% of it is spent on necessities like
food, and roughly 30% is considered discretionary spending for things like eating
out/entertainment (Huffington Post, 2017).
With age and income combined, Las Vegas is the prime center for catering events and
operating a profitable food business, due to residents being at an age where major life events
are occurring, as well as a majority of money being spent on food.
Altogether, there are no doubt many opportunities for Steph’s Sweets to cater/turn a profit at
the local shop. However, considering the competitive market in Las Vegas due to a growing
hospitality industry, Steph’s Sweets may face a few challenges in regards to maintaining its
competitive status, (refer to marketing plan to view goals to overcome these challenges). It is
anticipated that Steph’s Sweets will thrive in its location due to event popularity, and it will
cater to social, corporate, and community affairs.

Organizational Chart and Staffing
Due to the fact that Steph’s Sweets is both a bakery and a catering business, we will need to
account for employees that can work both sides of the business. It is preferable that we will
hire employees that are capable of handling both sides of the business, and then we will switch
off as needed.
Employees will be selected after a careful interview process (see employee application). Each
employee will be interviewed a minimum of three times to ensure best fit for the job. Potential
employees must have food handler’s permit before interviewing. Although not required, it is
preferred that potential employees have relevant work experience. We are willing to train any
employees that we deem qualified for the job.

Management Plan
When managing a business, it is important to be aware of every detail that goes on in your
business. It is also important to communicate with employees what you expect from them and
how you intend to manage. A good manager will lead the business on to success. Here at
Steph’s Sweets we take managing very seriously. It is ultimately the key to success.

Job Descriptions
Bakery Manager__________________________________________________________
The bakery manager is in charge of making sure employees are completing their daily tasks, and
ensuring that daily operations flow smoothly. As manager, I expect you to report any problems
that may arise directly to me, the owner. Should any employee be caught stealing or engaging
in any activities that are not in line with Steph’s Sweets Standards, I expect you to notify me at
once. Your job is to make sure that everything operates in an efficient manner each and every
day. As manager it is your job to act in the owner’s name when not present.
Catering Manager_________________________________________________________
The catering manager will make sure that every order arrives where it needs to be, when it
needs to be there. The manager will oversee events and ensure that everything is to the
customer’s satisfaction. The manager should also make sure that other employees are aware of
what their jobs are and that they are doing them correctly. As the owner I may not always be
present, so as manager you will act in my name whenever appropriate.
Assistant Manager________________________________________________________
The assistant manager will assist their respective manner in any way that the manager sees fits.
When the manager is not present, the assistant manager will be the next in charge. Assistant
managers should seek to motivate employees to do their jobs correctly, even when managers
are not present. The assistant manager is to help any employees in any way that may be
appropriate.
Production Bakers_________________________________________________________
The production bakers will be the ones in charge of making products each day. Production
bakers should expect to arrive to work early each day to begin baking the treats for that day.
Production bakers will handle both the catering and the bakery orders, and should be prepared
to produce high volume orders regularly. Ultimately the production workers will control how
much we sell, and the quality of the products that we sell that day. Production workers will be
held to a high standard of excellence, and should strive to create the best product they can
create, every time they bake.
Kitchen Help_____________________________________________________________
Kitchen helpers will focus mainly on assisting the production bakers so that they can focus all
their efforts on baking. Kitchen helpers’ daily tasks may include: sweeping the floors, taking out
the garbage, restocking ingredients, or retrieving ingredients for the production baker so they

don’t need to leave their station. Overall kitchen helpers are what will make this whole
operation run smoothly and efficiently.
Counter Staff_____________________________________________________________
Counter staff employees will be in charge of handling cash and transactions. They will focus on
customer service and tending to customer needs. The counter staff is the first face that the
customer sees when entering the shop, so it is important that you possess strong
communication skills in order to interact with customers. Counter staff will be in charge of
counting their drawers at the beginning and end of their shift to ensure that it balances out.
Dishwashers_____________________________________________________________
Dishwashes will be in charge of collecting dirty dishes as necessary and taking them to the
three-bin sink to be washed and sanitized. Production bakers may not always be able to take all
their dishes to the back, so the dishwashers will be in charge of collecting dirty dishes as they
are accumulated. After catering event, dishwashes will be in charge of making sure that all
dishes are cleaned and accounted for.
Cupcake Decorators_______________________________________________________
Cupcake decorators will focus on frosting the cupcakes after the production bakers have made
them. Cupcake decorators should be skilled at cake decorating, and be able to create cupcakes
that look just like the image shown on the menu. Our customers expect high quality treats, and
so the cupcake decorator must be able to provide a quality treat 99% of the time. Cupcake
decorators will also be responsible for making the buttercream frostings and storing them
properly.
Servers__________________________________________________________________
Servers will be in charge of delivering treats to guests at events. Depending on the style of
service that the customer desires at their event, servers will either be in charge of manning the
dessert table, or walking around with a tray of treats and serving people. Regardless of the style
of service, servers should have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate/visit with
customers. Servers should strive to make eating our treats an experience.

Target Audience
Steph’s Sweets is a bakery/pastry shop that specializes in cakes and cupcakes. No matter your
age, gender, or lifestyle, everybody loves a sweet snack every now and then. Steph’s Sweets
caters to a wide range of customers, you’ll be sure to be satisfied!
Objective
My objective is to create a business that will not only be profitable, but bring satisfaction to
customers. This marketing plan will outline key ways to increase awareness and profitability.
4 P’s of Marketing
Product
Customers of Steph’s Sweets can expect decadent treats, with cupcake flavors ranging all the
way from the classic vanilla cupcake, to the divine lemon raspberry. Each month Steph’s Sweets
will feature a cupcake of the month. This cupcake will be exclusive to that month and will not
regularly appear on the menu. In total there will be 16 cupcakes on the menu; 15 classics, and 1
cupcake of the month. With cupcakes being the highlighted dessert at Steph’s Sweets, we also
serve other sweet treats such as cookies, brownies, and other sweet beverages.

Menu
The following menu is a comprised list of the different flavored cupcakes, treats, and drinks that
we offer in store. The same menu can be used when placing an order for an event. For special
orders, please contact the store so we can help meet your needs; we are able to do cakes. In
order to keep up with the high number of orders we have, we have set a $300 minimum
purchase in order to cater your special event. If you were referred to us, let us know how you
heard about us for 10% off your total order.
In order to keep a wide variety of options, Steph’s Sweets offers a cupcake of the month. The
cupcake of the month will be featured each month, with a different one each month. This
cupcake will not regularly appear on the menu, and therefore will only be available during its
respective month.

Projections: The Future of Steph’s Sweets
Being located in America’s no.1 city for entertainment has definitely presented its challenges.
However, it is these challenges that are always allowing us to try new things and adapt our
menus and services. It is also because of our clients that we are able to better serve the
public/meet their dessert needs. Without our loyal clients, our business would not be
successful.
After trial and error, and receiving feedback from our loyal customers, we believe that we have
adapted well to meet our consumer’s needs. We have become better at keeping up with
trends, and will continue to gear our menus more towards what is trending at a given point in
time. Over the years we have placed high value on our customers and we hope to continue to
do so in the years to come.
In the years to come, there are a few things that our customers can look forward to. Steph’s
Sweets will likely expand the menu to feature even more of your favorite cupcakes, as well as
some other yummy treats. Customers can expect to see more great discounts offered each
week. If we continue on our current upwards trend, Steph’s Sweets will most likely move from
renting to owning a shop. It is our hope that we can not only find a location that provides more
space, but also that we will have a place to call our own. In the future we anticipate our
catering market to grow and that we will cater quite a few events.
We are grateful to all of our customers for allowing us to continue making sweet treats to
satisfy your needs. We hope that you all will continue to remain loyal, even amidst all the
changes and rennovations that may occur. It is our goal that we will be able to grow as a
business together and create wonderful experiences that you’ll never forget!
