O presente artigo mostra o estado da arte de trabalhos publicados pela ASCE dos anos de
2009 até 2015. Através do site de periódicos da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal
de Nível Superior (CAPES) utilizando como busca a palavra-chave “lean construction” na
base de dados do sítio eletrônico.
Os artigos encontrados foram classificados por ano, autores, assuntos, localidades das
pesquisas e metodologias empregadas. Todos os artigos foram baixados, lidos e classificados.
Os artigos que não tratavam de lean construction foram descartados do estudo. O restante foi
tabulado e classificado para a realização do trabalho. O ano considerado nas tabulações,
gráficos e discussões foi o ano da publicação online, mesmo que na referência apareça o ano
da publicação no periódico. Os artigos publicados nos periódicos em ano posterior a 2015,
mesmo que tenham sido publicados online até este ano não entraram na pesquisa.

A tipologia utilizada foi retirada dos trabalhos de Filippini (1997) e Gupta et al (2006).
De Gupta at al (2006) foi retirado, principalmente, a ideia do ensino de gestão, onde todos
artigos que se referem a educação de gestão são classificados dessa forma. Nesta pesquisa foi
dada esta importância a este tipo de estudo devido ao próprio paradigma de Lean
Construction, como apresenta, inclusive, no artigo de Tommelein (2015), “(...) perseguindo a
quebra de paradigma na Construção Civil”. Koskela (1992) trata várias vezes em seu trabalho
sobre aprendizado, educação e treinamento, portanto este artigo dedicou uma tipologia
específica, assim como Gupta et al (2006) para ensino de gestão. Obviamente, que no
presente estudo a gestão é em construção e naquele era em gestão em operações.
Outra observação interessante é sobre a universalidade dos trabalhos apresentados.
Sabe-se que a ASCE é uma associação estadunidense, porém váriadas pesquisas foram
desenvolvidas em todo o globo, como pode ser observado na Tabela 2.
