My name’s Khaled Ahmed. I’m from Bangladesh. I have completed my graduation from Leading
University in my hometown Sylhet. I have a professional work experience of 18 months as an
accounts executive. Careerwise currently my target is to achieve a masters degree from an
internationally recognised university which will help me join one of my desired companies in my
country as a certified accountant.
I chose the UK because it has one of the best education systems in the world and an impressive
international reputation with high standards of teaching (and a long history of welcoming
international students to study in its universities and colleges).
Almost every British university is recognized worldwide (and their education system has been
the basis for higher education standards in other countries for years).
The tuition fees are quite reasonable compared to the quality of education they provide (more
affordable compared to other countries)
The UK also has a rich multicultural atmosphere and is a safe country for an international
student.
By studying there I’ll also have opportunity to gain excellent commands in the English language.
Overall, Studying there will develop my skills broaden my career opportunities (and help me
achieve my future goals with more ease).
Q. What are the benefits of studying in the UK compared to your home country or
USA/Canada/Australia etc.?
A. First of all, The quality of education in UK is one of the very best globally. The certificate provided
by most universities in UK is internationally recognized and valued. So my chances of employment in
the international job market is way high compared to if I study in my home country, where the quality
education is very poor. Most of the teachers are not qualified or experienced enough. Also the
academic modules are not up-to-date and well-organized.
Secondly, Undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the UK tend to be shorter than in other
countries like USA/Canada/Australia, which can help keep the cost of tuition fees and living expenses
down. So basically I’ll be receiving world-class educational facilities in the UK at a cheaper cost
compared to those other countries.
Q. Do you understand the responsibilities of students entering the UK under Tier 4 student visa?
I cant work for more than 20h a week while I’m under the tier4 student visa.
A. Well to be honest in my country you need both the work experience as well as a degree from a
globally recognized university to get a high level job in renowned companies. So after my bachelors I
joined a business organization as an accounts executive to gain some proper work experience. I
worked there for around 18months. After that I started preparing myself for IELTS as well as started
looking at Universities and the programme they offer. During this time I also attended a few
education fairs and seminars. So returning to education now is a part of my career plan.
Q. Why did you choose this programme and how does it relate to your previous study?
A. Well being a certified accountant has always been my goal and ACCA was something I was looking
at initially. So I did a bit research online and came to know about this programme which offers both
the Masters degree and the status of being ACCA exam qualified. Also I can avoid double
assessments since it is fully accredited and designed by the ACCA with course modules aligned to
the ACCA exams.
This course will help me learn how to exploit opportunities for change through technology and
digital leadership as well as help me develop my analytical skill.
And previously I majored in Accounting in my Bachelors where I also studied similar courses this
particular programme offers like, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Taxation etc.
Studying these courses again and that too by more expert and experienced tutors will help me gain
better knowledge and understanding of the whole programme.
So, I’m certain this course will lead me towards the best employment opportunities in Bangladesh.
A. I'll receive an ADAF, MSc in Accounting and Finance, with ACCA exam qualified status.
A. I have researched:
University of Bedfordshire - where I looked into MSc in Accounting and Business Finance - which
costs 12000pounds per year, for 15 months.
I looked into MBA Master of Business Administration in University of Chester - which also costs
around 12250/y for 12months.
I also researched University of Hertfordshire - MSc in Accounting and Financial Management - 1year -
12650/y
A. Yeh ultimately I chose to go with BPP University because it was offering me a kind of programme
that’ll earn me not one but two qualifications (a masters degree as well as the status of being ACCA
exam qualified). The total fees of the programme are 19010 and the duration is 30months. So if I
break down the fees yearly I’m going to have to pay approximately 7600pounds each year which is
quite cheaper than the other institutions I have researched. Also the the university has an impressive
record of graduate employment which I mentioned earlier. So being a student of accounting after
doing all the cost benefit analysis I finally decided to go with BPP University.
A. As i have already mentioned my future career goal is to become a certified accountant. To be more
specific I want to work as a chief accountant in Alim Industries Ltd. which is one of the very few and
top agro-machines manufacturing firms in Bangladesh. It is located in my hometown. They also export
their top quality machines to other countries. To work for such a renowned company has always been
my target. But to apply for my desired position in this company I need a masters degree from a
university which is internationally recognized and valued. This programme not only offers me a
masters degree but also the ACCA exam qualified status. This gives me a competitive edge in the job
market and increases my chances of employment in my desired company.
Q. Would a large family presence in the UK encourage you to stay beyond the programme you have
applied to study for?
A. No it wouldnt. I’d like to come back home after I’m done studying there.
A. Well my total tuition fees are 19010pounds for 30months. For first year its 7604pounds. And
according to the UKVI rules my accommodation cost is 1265/month, for 9 months it is 11385. So
overall 7604 plus 11385; I need approximately 19k pounds to come to the UK.
Q. What is the profession of your financial sponsor and what is your relationship to them?
Q. Do you have evidence of the financial status of your financial sponsor, e.g. bank statements, bonds,
investments, etc?
A. I’ll be staying at East London in a rented room which will cost around 550 to 600 pounds per
month.
A. No I don’t. I’d rather concentrate on my studies (to try and get a good score) since my father will be
supporting me financially during my stay over there.
