1. Statement of Purpose
Through observation in SNUH, I aim to enrich my knowledge in Medicine
Rehabilitation, especially Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation. As mentioned in my
application form, I do not wish to limit myself in this particular field and am open to
explore more about neuromuscular rehabilitation and geriatric rehabilitation.
By doing this international training, I would also like to expose myself to
overseas experience and medical practices which I can bring home to Indonesia and
share it with the institution I will be working for, for the benefit of the patients.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Indonesia is considered relatively new
practice among medical professionals. Thus, I believe the knowledge and experience
I bring from SNUH will be very beneficial for the development of the Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation in my country.
I also seek to strengthen relationship and expand professional network among
colleagues in Seoul and Jakarta during the time spent in Seoul. I would also like to
learn about the professional culture in Seoul, especially in medical professions.

2. Desired dates of observership and training plans

From 2019/November/01 to 2019/November/30
Training plans:

1- Pain management (musculoskeletal and cancer pain)

2- Diagnosis and interventions using USG and fluoroscopy
3- Ultrasound guided injection
4- Facet block
5- Epidural steroid injection
6- Botox injection for spasticity

3. Detailed learning objectives to be achieved while observing

o Understand the evaluation procedures of pains, its types and able to construct
definitive pain management programs for patients.
o Develop the expertise in using USG for musculoskeletal diagnosis and
interventions.
o Comprehend the new practice of using fluoroscopy as it is not a common
practice in Indonesia.
o Learn about indication and contraindication of facet block intervention and
learn how to do facet block.
o Able to analyze and understand epidural steroid injection procedure along
with its indication and contraindication and know the procedure of doing
 epidural steroid injection.
o Understand more botox injection practice for spasticity in neuromuscular
diseases, how to determine the location and the techniques to perform the
injection and to evaluate the post-injection result.
