ELUDE: AN ESCAPE TO A CHAOTIC WORLD

The indoor forest museum aims to provide therapeutic to the potential cognitive effects of both the
city’s breakthrough of innovations and contagious retrogradation. The user’s comfort is the initial
priority in designing. The museum aims to give users the time for leisure and discoveries. In addition, it
may help increase the country’s economy by considering tourism through design.
DESIGN OBJECTIVES:
1. To promote therapeutic effect to users especially those who suffer mental disorder through
design techniques.
2. Contribute to help increase the economy rate of Zambales and the Philippines in tourism
category.
3. To open a new heights of discovery for students, nature-lover and/or plant lovers.
4. To provide an effective circulation path through the design.
5. To satisfy the needs, expectations and comfort of users.
DESIGN PARAMETERS:
• TO DESIGN WITH FORWARD THINKING THAT WILL BRING POSITIVE IMPACT TO
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES.
• TO INFUSE NEW VALUES TO SOCIAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT.
• ENHANCE BETTER COMMUNITY LIVING AND LIFESTYLE.
• TO ENCOURAGE PROGRESSIVE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT IN A CITY.
SWOT ANALYSIS:
STRENGTH rich in natural resources from sea to land; very accessible site location with a
potential for future expansion.

WEAKNESS poor drainage systems and the site is near the canal.

OPPORTUNITIES introduces tourism that may increase country’s economy; availability of

modern technology for adoption.

THREATS starts competition with other tourist spots; post-majeure.

OTHER:

VERTICAL VEGETATION can improve the energy efficiency of the building on which it is installed mainly
by insulating, shading and transpiring moisture from foliage and substrate.

The site is one of the highly urbanized city, Subic. Tourism plays a large role in the economy of Zambales.
Most of the province is still agricultural but there are considerable industrial zones that provide jobs not
just for residents of Zambales but also for neighboring provinces. Zambales isn't as developed as other
beach destinations but it gives you island getaways, sweet mangoes, plus a taste of the provincial life.
Green roof or living roof is a roof of a building that is partially or completely covered with vegetation
and a growing medium, planted over a waterproofing membrane. It may also include additional layers
such as a root barrier and drainage and irrigation systems.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Different rooms are created with wallpapers of different scenes of the nature. Forest, waterfalls,
mountains, seashore and a scenic rain.

The building serves as the vessel or escape of people to a stressful life. Elusiveness is not on the
building’s, elusiveness will be for the chaos and stress. The building will provide distraction for people’s
problems and stress.

Man-made waterfalls have been popular in other country. Those waterfalls are made in
purpose. An artificial waterfall is a water feature or fountain which imitates a natural waterfall

Artificial waterfalls have long been featured in traditional Japanese gardens, where they can serve to
highlight a scene or to provide focus.
