What we do?
We run the largest Dance Studio in the South Coast and Illawarra. We strive to provide a safe, challenging
and enjoyable environment that allows our teachers to share their love of dance with DS students. We
pride ourselves on making Dance an easy and stress free activity for parents and building confidence and
creating memories that will last a lifetime for our students. 

About Dance Sensations

Led by owner and founder Amanda Barr, Dance Sensations has been open for 18 years and is the largest
Dance Studio in the Illawarra and South Coast area with over 700 students through our doors every
week. Over the past few years our business and our owner Amanda have been recognised as winners of
the Illawarra and South Coast Business Awards. Our amazing DS Team is an energetic and enthusiastic
group of around 20 staff who are committed and passionate about making Dance Sensations an
amazing place for students to learn, parents to be involved in, and for themselves to work at.  We pride
ourselves on our professional service in every aspect of our studio to ensure that every student and parent
loves their time as a part of the DS Family.  We highly value our amazing team here at DS and we love the
energy, passion and enthusiasm that they bring to our business.  They really do feel like our family, with
some of them having been with us for our entire 18 year journey so far.  A large number of our teaching
staff actually started off as DS Students themselves 10-15 years ago! We like to show our appreciation
regularly to our staff to recognise the amazing positive impact that they have on our business and
helping it grow, DS wouldn’t be the amazing place it is without them.

The role
As a central part of the Admin Team, you will be the first point of contact for hundreds of clients on a
weekly basis, responding speedily to all customer needs.  As one of our most visible representatives, you’re
our brand’s ambassador!

Your 6-star customer service will help us to foster happy and loyal customer relationships for years to
come. You will take pride in ensuring all students and parents who you connect with via phone, email or in
person are getting the same amazing experience and feel a part of the DS Family.

We are looking for a bubbly, tech-savvy, smart-working and detail-oriented star to join our team as our
Administration and Customer Service Superstar.

You’ll already be excellent and passionate about delivering outstanding customer service as well as being
excited to work on administrative tasks. You’ll have outstanding attention to detail and a strong drive to
provide an out of this world customer experience each and every time. You will be a able to connect with
Adults and Children alike. Being part of a small team means there are times when it’s all hands on deck,
especially around concert time. You’ll need to jump on in to get things done that don’t necessarily fall
under your “job description”. A can-do, every thing has a solution attitude, is a must!

The hours
Our Studio has classes that run 9am - 9pm Monday to Thursday and Saturday mornings in line with School
Terms. We often offer extra curricular activities, or workshops also over school holidays or at certain points
throughout the term.

This role would be expected to work in the evenings with shifts spanning within the hours of 2pm - 9pm.
The role would be for a total of 25 hours per week. Flexibility with start and finish times, or additional hours
at peak times throughout the year would be essential. As well as some weekend work for our Mid Year and
End of Year Concerts.

Our location
Our Studios are located in the beautiful Shellharbour Village: 2/32 Addison St (Cnr of Mary St) Shellharbour.

We have 6 state of the art purpose built studios with sprung, tarket & USACF approved floors as well as a
Modern Parent and Student lounge areas.
What you'll be doing...The day To day 
The Position Description

Customer Service
Being our front desk superstar - being
amazing with young children and adults like.
Always greeting our customers with your
happy and enthusiastic disposition
Assisting students to feel safe and supported
and encouraging them to enjoy dance
Assisting teachers as needs arise in classes
Managing client accounts in our online
Dance Studio Management software
Processing payments through our system
Providing assistance with uniform selection
and purchases
Ensuring the presentation of the studios and
waiting rooms are of a very high standard.

Admininstration
Using your excellent customer service skills
to build loyal customer relationships to
handle enquiries that come through our
studio via phone, email or social media
Processing all general account tasks such as;
processing of Government Vouchers, Direct
Debit/Deposit transactions and account
maintenance
Processing all student administration
updates to mailing lists and our studio app
Maintaining all attendance records for
students and teachers to ensure they are up
to date and followed up where necessary
Maintaining stock levels for uniforms,
consumables, admin & teaching supplies
Working on our extra special studio add-ons
for students to ensure they have the most
amazing experience being part of our DS
Family

Being part of our team for Events to support our team and students to showcase and/or grow DS
Being always willing to step up and jump in when required to support the team on any extra tasks when
and where required

The ideal candidate


Is self-motivated and an excellent direction-taker - You know how to prioritise the most important tasks (at
times with minimal guidance), and how to think on your feet. At the same time, you pride yourself in your
ability to take direction and deliver the desired result.

Has a good level of administration skills - You know how to use a computer, navigate your way around,
have some experience with producing documents and/or spreadsheets, file management and most of all
can pick things up easily. We use alot of different technology and systems to make life easier that are
basically all but cloud based (even our phones are online!) so we aren't your usual 'admin/office'
environment.

Has excellent communication skills - You understand the nuances of email communication, and can
handle even the most challenging situations with professionalism and warmth. You’re also committed to
keeping your supervisor “in the know” about your progress. (No one has to ever chase you down!)

Has excellent grammar and punctuation - You pride yourself on catching every typo!

Is deadline-obsessed and detail-oriented - You love doing tasks on time, and checking them off your
checklist! In fact, you are one of those people who don't understand how some people can be so
disorganised and tardy. Responding to emails with a sense of urgency and care is a source of pride.

Has personal responsibility - If you make a mistake, you take 100% responsibility and fast action to remedy
the situation.

Has customer empathy - Imagining yourself in a customer’s shoes, you respond with empathy and have an
ability to not take grumpy or terse comments personally. You see yourself as a bridge between company
needs and customer needs. You know when it’s appropriate to be friendly and accommodating and when
to be firm.

Has some knowledge of Dance is preferable. Whether it’s from when you danced yourself when you were
young, or as the parent of a student that has danced, a basic understanding of how a dance studio
operates would be a plus.
