Youth Ministry
A faith goal, timeline and
target departure date
• faith goal - 100% partnership 
• timeline - fully funded by June 1 in order to purchase tickets
• target departure date - leave Virginia on July 25th
As many of you know, Sara has had some medical needs that came to
our attention earlier this year. As of last week, she completed her second
and last scheduled surgery and is well on the way to a full recovery.
None of Sara's medical needs will inhibit us from returning to PNG and
remaining there for the duration of our third term. We praise the Lord for
this, for her health and the ability to seek great medical care here in
Virginia. God's tender care and provision have been abundantly evident.
Pending Sara's continued recovery her surgeon will release her for
travel back to Papua New Guinea on July 24th, the very same day as
the first day of school for Jade in Ukarumpa! So, what does this mean
for us?
On April 22nd we began a 40 day time of prayer and fasting, asking you
to join us. We are almost half way through that time and remain
encouraged and passionate about our ability to return to PNG. We are
praying for a 100% completed partnership team by June 1st. This
timeline will allow us to purchase plane tickets and begin our travel back
to PNG immediately following Sara's medical release.
We are already in awe of God's provision for our return to PNG. The
initial timeline for each of Sara's scheduled surgeries was a six to eight
week wait. We do not doubt that God is at work, because the first
surgery was scheduled and completed within two weeks of her
mammogram and the second surgery within two weeks of the pathology
results from the first surgery. God sped up her treatment by more than
twelve weeks!! 
This timeline is critical. Jade will not be allowed to start school any later
than August 7th. A further delayed return to Ukarumpa could have
detrimental effects on her coursework and high school graduation. In
addition we are needed to begin our jobs at the start of the school year.
(There is so much work we need to get back to!) We will not be released
to return to Ukarumpa until we are meeting our monthly budget as
required by Wycliffe. 
Please join us in praying fervently for God to continue to move mightily
in the hearts of those He is calling to send us. Pray for those many to
answer His call and join our Wycliffe ministry soon! We are passionate
about the ministry of Bible translation and serving the youth in
Ukarumpa, but we cannot do this work alone! We need many to partner
with us in this God-sized task. Would you join us in this impossible?

A testimony from
Mandy Pehrson
"My name is Mandy Pehrson.
My husband Ben and I are
team leaders for the Aitape
West Translation Project. We
work with 11 different language
groups, training Papua New
Guineans to translate the Bible
into their own languages.
Our oldest child, having gone
through high school with Marty
and Sara as his youth leaders,
told us that they were adults the Pehrson family
he could trust. Their
authenticity and humility drew
him in, and he often sought out
both Marty and Sara at
different times, for advice or
just to chat. Now that he has
graduated, our two younger
department and both of them
have mentioned to me many
times over the year how much
they miss the Driggers while
they have been on furlough.
Noah misses the way Sara
kept everyone laughing and
lighthearted when he worked some of the Aitape West
with her at the Teen Center, Translation Project team hard at
and he greatly misses Marty's work
preaching at Soul Purpose.
Ellie had just begun going to
community group and Soul Purpose, but she echoed what her brother
has said about appreciating the Driggers' involvement and ministry with
the youth.
and they have found those things in Marty and Sara. We as parents
greatly value other godly people investing in our kid's lives and are
extremely grateful that we don't have to do all of this critical work (of
giving input and direction to our kids) on our own. We couldn't do our
without the support and care from people like the Driggers. We love
them!!”
