Artist

Statement
My photos that I have taken consist of how my community are filled with graffiti all around town. Kids,
families and just people all around realize our community is filled with gang bangers and breaking the law. I
wanted to influence my community and look at it more as artwork that a person expresses and how there
more to just breaking the law and a story behind each artwork. My title for my artwork is called “ Wild style.”
The elements and principles that my artwork has is that my pictures have line, form, color, rhythm/movement,
emphasis and contrast.
Some of the media that i used to create my artwork was the cameras that my school provided me
with, Photo shop and my community. These techniques that were in use helped me create my artwork by
firstly using the world as my source. I used the world to create some of my artwork by looking at it from a
perspective and used cameras to capture the moments that I thought were important and worth sharing. I
used Photo shop to make the picture more worth looking and added texture to it to make it more interesting.
What inspired me to do this artwork was because i wanted to have not only the world but my
community think about how beautiful and deep Graffiti is. I wanted them to be able to understand how it has
a story behind every word and sketch. I want to prove to people that there is more beyond just breaking the
law and much more in that artwork.
My goals that I am considering as an artist is to be able to influence someone and impact them in a
very inspirational way that will be able to impact them in a good way. To be able to change their perspective
and look at a image and know that there is a much more deeper meaning then it appears. I hope one day
someone will look at my book and feel inspired to look at the artwork that lives among our streets and look
beyond into what it actually is.
In creating this artwork I learned that you always have to be very patient in taking the right picture in
order for you to show your audience a powerful message and being able to influence them. I also learned
that you have to have the right lighting and exposure in order to get a good image and clear. It's only a
matter of time before you influence someone and inspire them to make a difference in the community.
