COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Philippine literature enhances the students’ information of literature from Spanish colonial to present. This three-unit course serves as an introduction to
literature with a particular focus on the corpus of literatures in the Philippines. It constellates the different literary works from the different regions of
the Philippines and elucidate historiography in different moving moments of temporal and spatial dimensions. This course emphasizes on the different
readings and interpretations of literature through the different lenses. Moreover, it exposes the students to the styles and techniques used by different
Filipino authors throughout the generations.

COURSE OUTCOMES: In this course, the students will:


- Identify the literary work of the Philippines.
Find the specific literary work from the early Philippine literature
- Identify the author, genre and purpose to write this novel
Analyze the language ‘Gaddang’
- Need to explain pre-colonial times to figure out beginning of colonial era of literature
