User Manual

Overview
Remote   File   Manager   is   the   app   that   helps   you   to   access   your   files   on  
your   remote   computer   (Mac,   Windows,   Linux),   NAS   Drives   and   Cloud  
Storages   (Dropbox,   Google   Drive,   etc.)   from   your   iDevice.   Streaming  
files  (documents,  movies  and  music)  to  your  iDevice  without  download.  

Connect Mac or PC from iOS


Before   set   the   connection   on   iDevice,   please   check   the   settings   on   Mac  
or  PC.  If  you  don’t  know  how,  please  refer  to  the  documents  “Settings  for  
Mac.pdf”  and  “Settings  for  Windows.pdf”.  
Once   the   shared   folders   have   been   set   up   on   your   computer,   you’re  
ready   to   connect   them   from   your   iDevice.   Remote   File   Manager   offers  
two  ways  to  set  up  the  connection:  Auto  Discovery  and  Manually  Setup.  
 
Auto  Discovery:  
1.  Open  the  Remote  File  Manager  app  on  your  iDevice.  
2.  Tap  the  "+"  button,  then  select  "Network  Share"  item.  
3.   All   computers   in   your   local   network   will   be   listed   in   “Network  
Neighborhood”  section.  If  your  computer  isn’t  in  the  list,  please  tap  the  
“Scan  Network”  button  to  lookup  your  computer.  
4.   Tap   the   computer   name   you   want   to   connect.   Then   input   your  
computer  user  name  and  password.  
 
 
Manually  Setup:  
1.  Open  the  Remote  File  Manager  app  on  your  iDevice.  
2.  Tap  the  "+"  button,  then  select  "Network  Share"  item.  
3.    Input  the  computer  name  or  IP  address  and  DNS  Domain  fields.  
If  you  use  IP,  leave  the  DNS  Domain  field  blank.  Otherwise,  please  input  
the  domain  name  if  your  computer  is  in  a  domain.      
We  recommend  you  use  the  computer  IP  address.  
Then  input  username  and  password  which  used  to  login  that  computer.  

 
 
The   connection   has   been   set   up.   Tap   the   newly   added   connection   to  
access  the  shared  folder.  

Access Cloud Storages


Remote   File   Manager   is   able   to   access   your   files   on   cloud   storages   as  
well.   Remote   File   Manager   supports   Dropbox,   Google   Drive,   SkyDrive  
and  Box.  Below  are  the  instructions  to  add  your  cloud  storage  in  Remote  
File  Manager.  
1.  Open  the  Remote  File  Manager  app  on  your  iDevice.  
2.  Tap  the  "+"  button,  then  select  the  cloud  storage  you  want  to  add.  
3.  Input  the  login  credentials.  

File Transfer
If   you   want   to   transfer   files   from   remote   computer,   Cloud   Storage   to  
local  storage,  please  follow  the  steps  below:  
1.  Assess  folders  on  remote  computer,  NAS,  Cloud  Storage.  
2.  Tap  the  “Edit”  button  and  select  the  files  you  want  to  download  
3.  Tap  the  “Download”  button  on  the  toolbar,  then  pick  the  destination  
folder  and  download  files.  
 
If   you   want   to   transfer   files   from   local   storage   to   remote   computer,  
Cloud  Storage,  please  follow  the  steps  below:  
1.  Access  local  folder  and  tap  the  “Edit”  button.  
2.  Select  the  files  you  want  to  upload.  
3.  Tap  the  “Upload”  button  to  upload  files.  

Local Files
Remote   File   Manager   allows   you   store   files   in   your   iDevice.   And   read  
them   offline.   There   is   a   couple   of   way   to   transfer   your   files   to   your  
iDevice.  

FTP  Transfer  
Remote   File   Manager   has   a   built-­‐in   FTP   Server.   You   can   use   it   to   do  
massive  file  transfer  between  computers  and  Remote  File  Manager.  
Start  FTP  Server    
1.  Open  Remote  File  Manager  and  tap  the  Local  item.  
2.  Connect  your  iDevice  and  computer  with  the  same  WIFI  network.  
3.  Start  the  built-­‐in  FTP  Server  by  tapping  the  button  below.  

Connect  with  FTP  server  from  computer    


We  highly  recommend  you  to  use  the  FileZilla  or  Cyberduck  as  the  FTP  
client.  
If  you  don't  have  FileZilla,  please  find  it  here:  http://filezilla-­‐
project.org/download.php?type=client  
Input  the  ftp  access  info  in  FileZilla  and  hit  the  "Connect"  button.

NOTE:  The  ftp  PORT  is  "2121".

Upload  files  from  computer  to  Remote  File  Manager    


Drag  the  folder  or  files  from  computer  to  the  folder  in  Remote  File  
Manager.
Download  files  from  Cloud  Files  to  computer    
Drag  the  folder  or  files  from  Remote  File  Manager  to  your  computer  
disk.

iTunes  file  transfer  


If   you   don’t   have   WIFI   network,   you   can   use   the   iTunes   file   sharing   to  
transfer  files  through  cable.    
1.Plug  your  iDevice  in  computer  
2.  Open  iTunes  
3.  Click  your  iDevice  name  in  left  side  of  iTunes  
4.    Navigate  to  Apps  tap  in  top  of  iTunes  
5.  Scroll  down  iTunes  and  click  Remote  File  Manager  
6.  Click  “Add”  button  to  add  files  from  computer  to  Remote  File  Manager  
7.   Select   files/folders   and   click   “Save   to…”   button   to   save   them   from  
Remote  File  Manager  to  your  computer.  
 
File  management  
There  is  “Edit”  button  when  you  enter  the  local  storage.    After  tapping  
this  button,  you’ll  be  able  to  rename/copy/move/delete  files.
