-Pilandok and the Rooster
The rooster looking for food at the shore un-
knowingly picked on the eye of the crocodile that
‘was resting with its body all covered with sand.
Angered, the crocodile grabbed hold of the rooster
with its teeth and was about to swallow the bird.
Just in time, Pilandok arrived. The crocodile
told him about what had happened and asked him
to decide which of them was at fault. Pilandok
cried, “Ply for you will be eaten!* “Eat for he will,
fy!" The roosier instantly Mew and escaped, but
the crocodile was 100 late. Pilandok left the
crocodile who was very angry.
One day the crocodile came to the cogon hut
of Pilandok, who was out at the time, and waited
for him there. When Pilandok returned, he paused
at a distance and called, "My cogon hut, is some-
one inside you?* He called again, "My cogon hut, if
there is someone inside do not answer." The
crocodile answered, "There's no one here.* Pilan-
dok ran away and escaped.
Another time, the crocodile went to
Pilandok’s well and waited for him there. After a
while, Pilandok arrived, carrying 2 bamboo tube
used for carrying water. As Pilandok began to fill
the bamboo tube with water, the crocodile grabbed
Pilandok’s feet. Cried Pilandok, "Look out! my
bamboo tube!” as he dropped the tube. The
crocodile released Pilandok’s foot 10 catch the
bamboo tube and Pilandok escaped.
Pilandok was lying down one day thinking
about his livelihood for he had nothing to eat.
Later on he went to the shore to catch some
shrimps. He waded up to a distant big stone and
sat on it, then called, "Shrimp! shrimp! would you
‘not eat the snail?" But the shrimp went on with the
current of the water. Irritated at that Pilandok
said, “Ifyou will not call the shrimp it will stay near
the shore.*
‘When the crocodile heard that Pilandok was
in the water it went to him and swallowed him
White he was in the crocodile’s stomach, Pilandok
said, "Crocodile, I will not die if you throw me into
the deep, but if you went to the shore and crushed
me on the rock, then I would die." "Maybe Pilan-
ok is right," said the crocodile, “for I can still hear
him singing in my stomach." The crocodile turned
around and went toward the shore where it
voritted Pilandok. Pilandok ran away very fast.
