3. supports you in defining a topic in the S7 I/O Server and to test the connection via the WWClient test client.

Requirements

z SIMATIC NET S7 I/O Server Version 7.5.0.11 or higher must be installed.

z SIMATIC NET Software Version 6.0 + SP2 or higher must be installed.

z Computer with S7 I/O Server and PLC with TCP/IP Industrial Ethernet communication processor, connected to a network.

Set PG/PC Interface

You will find the program Set PG/PC Interface in the following menu.

Select access point of application

After starting Set PC/PC Interface the window looks similar to this one.

Add the Interface

This step is only necessary if you have problems when configuring the Interface Parameters Assignment Used.

If you can neither select TCP/IP nor Ind. Ethernet, then probably none of the modules is installed.

Click on . The following window displays:

Select the appropriate module and click

After this you should now be able to configure the Interface Parameter Assignment Used.

SIMATIC NET Commissioning Wizard

You will find the Commissioning Wizard in the following menue.

In the window displaying now you can select if you want to use either the MAC-Address (Ind. Ethernet) or the IP address (TCP/IP). You can
also select both options. The addresses to enter in that window are the addresses of the computer for which you are doing this
configuration. You also have to select the subnet you want to use for communication. In this case Ethernet.

When pressing the button, the following window displays. No settings are necessary here.

SIMATIC NCM PC Config - Finish

Here you will see the PCStation that was configured before. If you do not see it, your configuration was not save and compiled correctly, you
need to reconfigure your PCStation. You can double click on the area where the application or IE General suppose to be, the Hardware
configuration window will appear.

Please notice the PC station Name is default to as PCStation, if you want to change this name, make sure the new name is save and compiled
and later downloaded. Check it with Station Configuration Editor to make sure the PC station name is matching to the name you use in the
NetPro configuration.

The following window displays. Please select (Unspecified) as connection partner and S7 connection as connection type.

When pressing the following window displays.

NetPro - Properties S7 Connection

Here you enter the network address of the partner. In case of a TCP/IP connection this is the IP address of the PLC you want to connect to.

If the connection is an Ind. Ethernet connection uncheck the TCP/IP checkbox. Now the address is the MAC address of the PLC.

When pressing the following window displays.

NetPro - Enter Rack/Slot of the CPU

Please enter the rack and the slot of the CPU in the PLC. The slot number can be seen in the hardware configuration in the Step7 programming
language. Usually it is 2 for an S7-300 PLC, and 3 for an S7-400 PLC. All other values should be default.

With you close the window and accept these settings.

NetPro - Configured connections

Now you see the configured connection.

Now download the hardware configuration to the PC Station Manager.

Note that the download menu is available only if the PCStation is selected and active. It does not work if the connection in the table below is
selected.

Warning: It may happen that the download is not successful with a more or less meaningless error message. In this case please check the
hardware configuration in NetPro against the configuration of the "Station Configuration Editor". You will find the "Station Configuration Editor"
as an icon (computer symbol) on the right side of your taskbar. Both configurations must be identical before SIMATIC NET allows a download.
(Both configurations must be identical in terms of PC Station Name, the positions of the components - application and IE general, OPC server,
etc.)

NetPro - PLC Download Connections and Gateways

The last step is to download the connections and gateways to the PC Station Manager.

If you then click the arrow in the pull down menu VFD the application that you defined in the previous steps must appear. If you selected the
correct VFD, then in the pull down menu Connection also must appear the corresponding connection.

If you do not find entries in the pull down menus VFD and Connection, something went wrong with the SIMATIC NET software. Then it doesn't
help to type in the entries manually. In this case please check all your SIMATIC NET settings again and download them to the PC. Then restart
the S7 server and try again.

For best performance you should select and .

If you do not explicitly want cyclic services, you should disable them .

Testing the Connection Between I/O Server and PLC with WWClient

The handy tool, WWCLIENT, which is located in the Common directory of the Wonderware FactorySuite, can be used for testing a
connection between I/O server and PLC.

Requirements
SIMATIC NET software set-up correct.
I/O Server is running.

Node
the I/O server is running on a remote computer in the network.
Application Name of the *.exe file of the I/O servers. In this case S7.
Topic Name of the topic as defined in the I/O server.
Selection of the connection type between I/O server and client. Possible
Connection Type
choices are DDE and IOT (Suite Link).

Accept the changes .

Close the window with .

View of WWClient if Connection is Successfully Established

In WWCLIENT you should see a line similar to the following Connection type \\Nodename\Server|Topic

Configuring TCPIP Industrial Ethernet with SIMATIC NET Version 6.0 and generic NIC card (e.g. 3Com Card) Página 26 de 29

In the I/O Servers an entry similar to the following should display. The Status of the connection should be GOOD.

Menu Item in WWClient

In field ITEM enter the desired data in the PLC. Please be sure to use the correct syntax of the I/O server. Please refer to the corresponding
section in the online documentation of the I/O server.

mhtml:file://D:\Manuals\Wonderware\Notas tecnicas\Configuring TCPIP Industrial Ethernet with SIMATIC NET Version 6_0 and gener... 01/06/2019

With AdviseEx the item will be activated.

WWCLIENT should look similar to the screenshot below.

If you enter a value in the field VALUE, this value can be poked to the PLC by pressing the button POKE. This value now should also be visible
in WWCLIENT.

Values that are changing in the PLC will change accordingly in WWCLIENT.

Explanation of the Quality State in WWClient

This quality can be used to analyze communication problems.

Better explanation of the quality state can be found in the electronic documentation (pdf file) of the SIMATIC NET S7 I/O server looking for
"Quality".

Here is a list of the possible Codes and their meaning in short:

00C0 Data quality good.

00C0 Clamp hi.

0055 Clamp lo.
0040 Cannot convert.
0004 No access.
0018 No communication.

If the communication is OK, you will see: 0x00c0.

Entry in S7 I/O Server if Connection is OK

In the I/O server the number of connected items in WWClient should be seen in the column ITEMS. If all items are correct, the column ERRORS
should show the value "0".

Now the connection is tested and fully functioning.
