SUMMARY OF FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE LAST SURVEY

STRENGTHS

1. The Surigao Del Sur State University (SDSSU) is located in a place conducive to learning and
other academic activities.
2. SDSSU has very strong support from the local and national leaders as evidenced by the ongoing
and completed construction in the campus.
3. The University Campus is well-kept as observe in its clean surroundings landscape and rest
rooms. Vandalism is obviously minimized/controlled in the campus.
4. There is security and order inside the campus.
5. Water hydrants are available for firefighting and other uses.
6. Service offices and facilities are available inside the campus and they are accessible to the
students, faculty, staff and general public.
7. Facilities for assemblies are adequate and available to both small and big groups
8. The classrooms comply with the space requirement set by proper authorities. They are also
well-ventilated.
9. The classrooms are adequately provided with chairs and writing supplies.
10. The administrative and service offices are strategically located making them accessible to
clients, especially and to the students.
11. Smooth communication among the offices is assured by the presence of landline telephones.
12. The Student Center provides a venue for student leaders to plan and implement their own
projects and activities in coordination with the Student Affairs Office and the administration. ,
13. Foods serve in the cafeteria are varied, well-prepared and reasonably-priced.
14. The accreditation centers are well-kept, maintained and strategically located.

AREAS NEEDING IMPROVEMENT

1. Traffic safety and security in the campus are not well-managed.

2. There is no provision for fire escape and security in the buildings.
3. Building are not well arrange in the Campus as to location.
4. Access ramps for persons with disability are not appropriately constructed.
5. Safety grills in the gymnasium are not installed.
6. The Academic Building canteen is not free from flies and other crawling insects.
7. The Accreditation Center cannot be easily located.
8. There are no housing provisions for students who came from far places.
RECOMMENDATIONS

1. The university is encouraged to improve traffic safety and security by installing a properly
labeled gate / barricade to regulate entrance and exit of vehicle in the Campus.
2. Fire escapes should be installed in all buildings for precautionary / safety purpose. Fire
extinguishers should also be provides and place in accessible places.
3. Safety grills should be provided in the gymnasium to prevent accident.
4. The university administration may consider permanent plantilla positions for the university
physician and a dentist to cater the student’s health needs in the main campus and satellite
campuses.
5. Currently, the equipment and some supplies in the infirmary and the Midwifery department are
shared. The university may consider acquiring separate equipment and supplies for each of the
entities.
6. Medical and dental supplies may be augmented up to cater to students need especially, if they
need these equipment and supplies at the same time.
7. Street lights in the campus should be improved to secure the university at night.
8. There are designated parking spaces in the campus. However, some owners and drivers of these
vehicles do not use the parking area. It is recommended that the security office impose strict
parking in the designated areas.
9. The accreditation centers may be prominently to be easily located by accreditors and university
visitors.
