Facing the challenges of a lack of pedestrian realm and disconnected median with public
plaza, reclaiming the value of Park Avenue as linear urban park for humans is established
upon the intention to deliver green space back to people.

The idea of bringing public housing into urban fabric through landscape realm not only
1820 adds dynamics to the entire commercial district, but also explores the current challenges of
relieving housing demand of the entire Manhattan.

Environmental Sustainability: Compared to traditional ways of protein cultivation, emerging
future cultivation including cricket and micro-algae cultivation takes way less input of land,
water and feed resources to produce 1 ton of protein output.

Health: Crickets and micro-algae have greater percentage of protein content as 80% and
96% compared to 55% maximum for traditional meat cultivation. In addition, they have less
fat and more omega-3 and fiber to sustain human health.

Chongqing, a city of furnace with dense population, needs to breathe. Through re-consider
the tower-ground relationship, the existing ground level is peeled off to introduce natural ven-
tilation across the site through a series of “slot” spaces as Urban Textile 2.0.

The porosity of these slots brings new dynamics to the previously unlit underground levels
and introduces walkable civic realm along the residential neighborhood. The project aims at
creating a civic space to reach economic growth while enriching people’s daily activities.
